Really?? Darn! Too bad he didn't name names. I'd love to hear all the juicy details!

I thought they were right to vote Lakisha off. Her rendition of Staying Alive was mediocre. This was the only time I watched the show.

I actually feel a bit bad for LaKisha, though.

Anybody watch Jay Leno Monday night and see Melinda, Jordin and Blake as his guests. They were really relaxed and very talky about things on the show. It was nice to see them together without the pressures of performing. They talked about their adventures going home this past week, and what the judges say - do they listen or just blow it off. Also there were the inevitable Sanjaya jokes and questions which were avoided like the plague.

Musical guest for the evening was Taylor Hicks who performed "Heaven Knows" off his CD, which this week was finally certified Platinum - which means a million units sold.

Looking forward to the Final Three Tuesday night on Fox.

I loved Blake tonight. I know I am biased but I thought his version of Maroon 5 was especially awesome. I also liked how he was the only one that did 3 new songs, while the girls both did a repeat song.

They didn't seem too happy with Jordin tonight.

It that time, folks. I hope you all are voting for your favorite (please no Sanjaya votes to throwaway). It is all down to the Top Three - Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks, and Melinda Doolittle.

To my thinking they each brought their A-game tonight. Jordin was probably the weakest of the three, but she was way better than Blake even though he knocked out that Maroon 5 song, and his version of Robin Thicke's big hit was outstanding. I just don't think that he stands a chance to be in the finals, but it is up to all of us to vote for our favorites. Melinda and Jordin should get the nod for the finals. Any other way, and the fix is in.

I really want to see what Jordin and Melinda can do when it is just them and no one else. Has Jordin learned to use that big voice to her advantage, and has she put the fact that she is only 17 behind her, so she can win this title? Can Melinda come to the front, and no longer be the background singer she has been for the last few years?

I am so looking for an all-girl finals this year!!!!

Lately, I haven't been watching AI as faithfully as I used to. But, I watched it last night. Here are my thoughts about each contestant:

Blake:
I really liked his "Roxanne". I thought it was really good. I love "This Love", and, although he did a good job, it wasn't nearly as satisfying, in my opinion, as the original by Maroon 5. I wasn't paying too much attention to his Robin Thicke song, so I can't really comment. I was preoccupied during the whole show, but this was the one that didn't even get me looking up at the screen.

Jordin:
I don't like the song "Wishing on a Star". A Top 40-type station in Boston used to play this song semi-often, and I've just never liked it. That said, it was a good performance. I liked Jordin's vcrsion better than the original. I must've only half-payed attention to "She Works Hard for the Money", so it mustn't have been her best performance. Mediocre, I guess. I didn't recognize the last song she did, so I either didn't watch the previous episode she sang it on, or it just wasn't memorable. If I may quote Randy Jackson, "It was just okay for me, dawg".

Melinda:
I'm a big Melinda fan. I always have been (well, for the past few months). I was shocked that any judge would pick a Whitney Houston song for a contestant to sing, but then I realized that Randy picked it for Melinda. She messed up a few notes, but it's a Whitney song. I'd mess up the majority of the song, so, in my eyes, Melinda was golden. I wasn't familiar with the Ike & Tina Turner song, and, as with the other 2 contestants, I must not have been too impressed, since my organizing my music collection was more interesting than the song. I recognized "I Am Woman" from a previous episode, and was disappointed that she chose a retread. That said, I loved it the first time, and, although I didn't love it as much a 2nd time, I thought that she did well.

Side notes:
Did Melinda's town really name a street after her, or was it just a sign they made for her?

Jordin, we know you're 17. Heck, wasn't Diana DeGarmo 16? From my (bad) memory, she didn't play the teenager card. You're not there because of your age, but because of your talent. Hanson is my favorite band. Do NOT be ashamed of being a Fanson ( :D ). I mean, maybe she only likes that one song, but maybe she's a big fan. I don't know. Don't blame liking the song on being 17...they're a great band.
I have a related story.......................................
This time last season, I wanted Elliott to win. When it was down to Taylor & Katharine, I wanted Taylor to win. Katharine seemed to have an attitude problem. I'd rather buy Katharine's CD than Taylor's, though, based on my preference of music. I really like her single. Anyhoo, this season, I've been keeping in mind who I'd be the most likely to buy an album of. Out of the Top 3, I'm assuming that I'd be more likely to buy a Jordin album, if she sings pop (a la Katharine McPhee). But, she seems to have some kind of attitude that bothers me. My husband pointed out that, when the mayor read what song Simon chose for her, she seemed happy and like "yay". But, later she confessed that she had never heard the song before. She just bothers me sometimes. But, she has an amazing voice.

I definitely want Melinda to be in the final (and win :) ). I think I'm leaning more towards Blake to be her opponent. Jordin will get a record deal and be happy listening to "MMMBop" in her closet. It would be diverse and interesting (jazzy soulful music vs. contemporary beatboxing). Yes, I'd like to see Blake & Melinda in the final. But, saying that, I didn't vote last night (*gasp*).

I thought Blake was the night's worst performer in all three rounds. In fact, this might have been his worst night. The vocals came off as monotone and nasally. I liked Blake a lot early on, but the novelty has worn off and it's time for him to leave.

While liking both of them, I tend to prefer Melinda to Jordin. Last night, however, Jordin blew everyone away in all three rounds. Melinda was good but not at her best, while Jordin was. Like everyone else, I wish they would have avoided repeat songs.

I can't say that I would buy an album from any of the three remaining contestants (depending, of course, on what direction they take their music). Therefore, just as with last year's finale, I'm not overly enthused at this point. Still, I'm rooting for Melinda vs. Jordin on the final night. My votes went to the two of them last night.

Melinda, Blake and Jordin were all great but one has to go home and I think it will probably be either Blake or Melinda.

I'm hoping that Jordin gets eliminated tonight, but I'm not so sure that's gonna happen. I think its pretty much assured that Melinda is going to win at this point, she is far and away better than Blake and Jordin combined. But, I'm still gonna root for Blake.

I'm a big fan of all three, but I really want to see this come down to the girls. I thought Melinda was the best last night with Jordin at a close second. I'm a big Blake fan and he was amazing on "This Love," but he's not a belter like the two girls are and I think it would be much more interesting to see those two go head to head. Because if Blake doesn't go, it's pretty obvious that the winner will be whichever girl is left standing. I would be so shocked if Blake won.

Well Blake and Jordin are the top 2... Meaning Melndia Doolittle has been voted out of American Idol... They are alll 3 good but I was expecting to see Blake or Jordin go... I think Simon was very shocked.... as was I... :o

Definitely shocking. Melinda deserved to be in the final two at least as much as Jordin. They're both incredibly talented. Blake is good but should have left several weeks ago. He's stale and not half the powerhouse that Melinda is, so it's a real shame. At least Jordin ensures that this year's finale will be better than last year's.

Tonight was a shocker. I was thinking it would be Blake, or maybe Jordin as the shocker.

America got it wrong.

I don't know what to think about the final anymore. I was really wanting Melinda in the final and hopefully winning it. No matter what I'm sure she will get a recording contract out of this and go on to bigger things. She isn't a backup singer anymore.

I was happy to see Blake go through :D
Melinda is an awesome singer and will go far in her career with or without an American Idol win.

My vote (if Canadians could vote) would go to Blake just because his would be the only album I would probably buy since I like his style of singing.

I am still shocked by tonight's results. The only redeeming quality left in Idol this season was the fact that Melinda was the frontrunner. Blake and Jordin just don't belong in the final 2. Oh well.

I am positive that Melinda will have a huge post-Idol career.

The results of tonight's show is a great barometer of the age of the person who is watching and voting on the show. The styles of music reflect what is happening today on the music charts, and Melinda, apparently just didn't fit what the people want.

I was really shocked that Blake was voted through, but the teen and tweeny-boppers got in the votes and kept him around for another week.

Melinda will go far, we have not heard the last of her in any way, shape or form. I will buy her CD when it comes out, no questions asked. It could be titled "Melinda Doolittle Sings the Yellow Pages", it will be ten times better than most of the stuff that is out there right now.

Jordin sang herself into the Finals and deserves to be there, but I think that America got it all wrong by voting Blake Lewis through to next week. Here is hoping that we get it right, and make Jordin Sparks our next American Idol.

I will be the lone voice in the forum saying how happy I am that Blake made it through. I thought he did so good last night, and I think he's so original and creative, especially for this show.

I wish it had been Melinda that got through instead of Jordin though.

Oh well. Go Blake! ;)

This is going to make for a pretty boring finale seeing as it is obvious that Jordin will win at this point... she deserves to over Blake anyways...

I'm so bummed Melinda got off. She's been my favorite since I saw her audition. She has become my favorite Idol contestant of all time (beating out Kelly Clarkson). I really hope we don't have to wait a year for her album. Typically, the second runner up doesn't put out an album until the winner and first runner up have CDs on store shelves. I'm going to buy the rest of her digital downloads (I already have 3) and make an album out of it on my iPod. She completely deserved to win.
