I'm not too keen on Sierra Boggess, hopefully she will grow on me. I still think Kerry Butler was better.
Under The Sea sounds REALLY AWESOME! I am excited to sea that! Probably super exciting and up-lifting like Be Our Guest
No problem! Something was telling me all day to check the website, and so I did and I'm glad I did.The Little Merboy wrote:Thank you for noticing that tsom

Well, Sierra did star in Phantom of the Opera so that was a likely side-effect. I suppose it's bad if you don't like Opera, I guess. It sounds like Sierra is making it sound Opera-ish, thats what is REALLY bothering me![]()

Okay...is the only reason you think mermaids don't have fish tails because their tails go up and down? I think Disney, and everyone else who animated mermaids did it because it's way more attractive than the side to side swimming. I've always known mermaids are half fish. Wkikpedia, which can be wrong but is contributed to by everyone on the internet, people who don't know their stuff and as many people who do know their stuff.UncleEd wrote:But Mermaids aren't half fish. I remember from biology, fish swin their tails left to right, mammals are up and down.
Norm Lewis on 'Mermaid' Casting
Pati Buehler recently interviewed Norm Lewis about his roles in Les Miserables and as 'King Triton' in The Little Mermaid Broadway musical. Below is an extract from the article ("Lewis, Lea, Les Miz, Mermaid, Bubbles and More...") regarding The Little Mermaid:
"Pati Buehler: Seems like we just talked yesterday about your going into Les Miz, and now we are nearing the end of your contract. You have to know that everyone is buzzing about Little Mermaid. Are you willing to admit guilt yet as to being cast as King Triton?
Norm Lewis: (laughs) ummm. Yes. We had to work through a few details but it will be announced very soon. I am leaving Les Miz on April 22 going into rehearsals for Little Mermaid on May 29th. I go to Denver on July 1st where it will open early July and run through Sept.9th, as I am told. It will come back to NYC for rehearsals on Oct. 5 and hopefully open on Broadway on December 5th. This is what they've told me". He also invites those living or visiting Denver this summer to see the show!
PB: Any other solid leads in place besides Sierra Boggess as Ariel?
NL: "Sherie Rene Scott will play Ursula and Ed Korbich plays Scuttle (left). And I don't know for certain about any of the other casting. But we'll all soon find out." The role of King Triton came about for Norm as he was in tech week with Les Miserables. He went into the auditions for Mermaid during that hectic time frame. He was called back and they wanted him to learn and sing a song from the new show. "I was in tech week and really couldn't swing learning a new song then and there, so I found another seafaring type song and they offered me the role", says Norm.
According to Norm the musical appears to be much like the filmed story. "King Triton finds Ariel absent from an underwater feast and finds that she has gone to the surface. He is pretty upset and also gets into this big feud with Ursula and so on as the story unfolds". Regarding the staging or sets, he's not been told much and will have to wait and see like everyone else.
Norm is excited to be creating a new role and promises to "keep working on his new body" as he will appear naked from the waist up in the show. (From what I could tell, he's ready to go, only if he skips that 3rd slice of pizza!) ...We all look forward to seeing him as King Triton and enjoy the rest of the cast when The Little Mermaid comes to Broadway. "

True, but "The Phantom of the Opera" isn't anywhere near actual opera.Disney's Divinity wrote:Well, Sierra did star in Phantom of the Opera so that was a likely side-effect. oops,i didn'y notice tscom already post it,sorry, ignore it.Ariel'sprince wrote:people,go here (http://disney.go.com/theatre/thelittlem ... index.html) and you can hear part of your world and under the sea and the finished version!.

But, if Alan Menkin is working on this project, don't you think he'd have a say on how Sierra sings the songs? So I'm guessing he's fine with the way she sings it, and it's alright for it to be sung that way!The Little Merboy wrote:Yeah, but "Part of Your World" isn't suppose to be sung like that.
I really don't like the change to a feast Ariel misses, and if it's a feast she's missing, then where will the newly lengthened "Daughters Of Triton" fit in?! Also it sounds like Triton knows about Ursula's plan and might confront her even before she becomes Vanessa...that's only my guess."King Triton finds Ariel absent from an underwater feast and finds that she has gone to the surface. I know! I saw that and I was like "what???" I think maybe the guy was giving a quick synopsis of the beginning, and calling the concert a "feast." As for the Ursula feud, I think he might be refering to the song "Wasting Away" and how Ursula and Triton had had this never ending feud, and how she wanted to get Triton right in her sway. I don't think he meant that Triton knew what Ursula was planning.Disney Duster wrote:I really don't like the change to a feast Ariel misses, and if it's a feast she's missing, then where will the newly lengthened "Daughters Of Triton" fit in?! I's so unfair! I live in the UK too and I want to go see a few broadway shows. I'm 16 though, so I can't really just hop on a plane and go halfway around the world to see them. I intend to go to New York as soon as I can, but we're talking a good few years away. I'll have to make do with promo clips on youtube until thenChrisLyne wrote:Just booked my tickets for opening night (July 26th)! Seats 229 and 230 in row D of the Mezz.
I had a major panic when I couldn't register, the site let me select UK as my country but because I couldn't select a state I couldn't proceed. I had to phone to book my tickets, the staff were very helpful and now I'm ready to go and really excited to be in the first audience!
Now I have to start looking at flights and hotels!
I'm thinking about flying from the UK to New York to see Tarzan and then getting an internal to Denver for TLM and get a flight home from there. I really want to see both shows and this way I can do both (much cheaper than doing a seperate holiday for each show even if the internal flight does cost a bit).
Very excited and really looking forward to it, I'm sure it will be well worth the money.
The new website is good, I still think I prefer the Demo POYW reprise vocals but I'm not going to judge the new singer on one or two lines (especially since there was never a demo of POYW leaked to compare it with), I'll wait till I've seen the show and then see which I liked best.
