Me, too. I’m ready for them to do another traditional fairy tale (with music, romance, a villain, etc.) anyway, and I’d like them to make more fairy tales with people of color at the same time. Two birds, one stone. I wouldn't mind another one lead by a male character a la
Aladdin either.
The thing is… I wonder why Disney hasn’t made another film with a primarily black cast since TP&TF anyway? Not just a fairytale princess story, but any story with black characters? They’ve had BH6 and
Moana, now
Raya and a Latina princess story soon. Simply looking at them as an American company, it’s strange they don’t make another with black characters considering they’re a much larger minority in this country than Latinos or Asian Americans. I just wonder if they're using TP&TF's performance as a way to justify putting off doing another film with black characters, in the same way they used it to kill hand-drawn animation (and would've done in fairy tales altogether, too, if
Tangled hadn't been too far along to simply cancel). Part of me is afraid that if they were to make another black princess, that Tiana would get thrown into the background in the princess line...

The DP line is the only thing keeping TP&TF on life support as far as merchandise goes all these years later.
Anyway, I hope Gay Prince Film is next on the list for somewhere between 2022-5.

I know, I know, we probably have another decade or two before that happens.
