Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)
I think they nailed it.
I hope it's as good as Sweeney Todd, which I found to be an excellent Sondheim adaptation. Meryl's going to rock this big time. Anna Kendrick is also excellent.
Highly anticipating this now

HOLY SH!T IT LOOKS SO AMAZING!!!!! That was one fantastic trailer! And beautiful, too!
Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, and even Lilla Crawford seem like they will be so good in this! Oh, Meryl is fantastic, and Anna, doing so well as Cinderella who's dream coming true is not turning out like it seemed. Oh, this film, I can't wait to see this film!!!! The costumes, the effects, the acting, the directing, the singing, ahhhhh!!!!!

Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)
I really want to see more of Emily Blunt. The baker's wife is my favorite character, but I can understand why the Witch, Cinderella, and the Wolf (LOL) are flashier characters for advertising, plus Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp are the biggest stars. I despise the wolf's look though.
I'm confident this will be a financial success now. A lot of critics are expecting it to suck but it looks good so far! It'll be fun at the very least.
The website plays some gorgeous instrumentals:

Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)
If you change your store location to the UK on iTunes, you can hear the track samples. Just listened through and I am pleasantly surprised at how good most of them sound, especially Blunt and Chris Pine. The only two I'm kind of "eh" at the moment on are Anna Kendrick, who sounds good technically, but there is a whiney-ness to her tone that kind of bugs me a little...and Depp's wolf is the exact same way he sang in Sweeney Todd. I can already tell I'll be skipping past his song during repeat listens to the soundtrack. But Meryl is phenomenal and sounds so much like Donna Murphy in parts. The orchestrations are sublime. Can't wait to hear it all.

Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)
Loving all of the sound clips! I cannot wait to see how this translates on screen! Some initial thoughts on the songs/singing:
Meryl - Oh god. She's brilliant. As usual. "Stay With Me" is WRENCHING and "The Last Midnight" might even garner applause in theaters. Her pronunciation of "laaaaaast midnight" is very Donna Murphy. Watch your back Patricia Arquette, la Streep is coming for you!
Anna Kendrick - I mean it's clearly her voice, but much less pop-y than we've ever heard her. I always had confidence in her for the role, and I'm glad that was justified. Thank goodness we don't have another Amanda Seyfried situation.
Emily Blunt - I'm really feeling Joanna Gleason here. Clearly Blunt's voice is not meant to fill a choir hall, but it works for the role. Gleason didn't consider herself a singer before doing Into the Woods, and yet is iconic as the Baker's Wife. Blunt has a natural warmth and a nice tone. Most importantly, it doesn't seem like she's trying really hard to sing, rather choosing to act instead. Claps!
Chris Pine - What an interesting voice. In a good way. Glad he isn't a Russell Crowe situation.
James Corden - Delightful voice! Not familiar with much of his work, but he seems ideal for the role of the Baker!
Both the kids are good, but I'm not surprised by that as they're both straight from Broadway. The orchestrations are gorgeous. Most importantly, there doesn't appear to be a dud in the bunch in terms of singing! Very consistent across the board!

Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)
Wow wow wow! It sounds soooooo amazingly good!
And oh man, I’m so glad they are using the original “Last Midnight”’s more meaningful “You’re so nic., You’re not good, you’re not bad, you’re just nice. I’m not good, I’m not bad, I’m just right” instead of the changed lyrics from the revivals where she steals the baby and then jk she doesn’t steal the baby.
They have Cinderella at the Grave! Yes! I thought it was cut! But if Cinderella’s mother gets to sing…why doesn’t Cinderella sing her parts? WTF?!
Cinderella sings…pretty beautifully but not as much as I think a Cinderella should. I don't think Anna’s voice fits Cinderella so well. I think she sounds a little nasally sometimes. But it is beautiful at some times…
Johnny Depp…ugh…didn’t like him this time. Sorry, I just didn’t think he did this song fittingly.
“It Takes Two” sounds so beautiful and sweet! Emily really does sing so beautifully, I’m surprised how much so! Her “Moments in the Woods” is really, really great!
The Princes sound great! I’m surprised I think Chris Pine has a better sounding voice than Billy Magnussen. But together their “Agony” is so excellent!
Holy sh!t Mery’’s “Stay With Me” was too amazing to be believed! I didn’t really like how she sounded more angry than desperately sad during her “Who out there..” and “What out there…”, but it was powerful and GOOD anyway. And Mery’s “Last Midnight” was pretty amazingly fantastic!

I like Kendrick. Her voice is more pop, but she's still good enough. Especially compared to Depp... ugh.
Meryl.... a-ma-zing. Disney should just go ahead and start pushing her for leading actress, she should easily make it to the top 5 based on her vocals in ' Last Midnight' . Holy crap what a voice.

Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)
VERY pleasantly surprised. I kept telling myself not to get my hopes up for this but everything looks and sounds great. Very excited now.
Last Midnight - WOW! Meryl sounds especially amazing which I wasn't expecting after Mamma Mia
I think she'll definitely earn an Oscar nomination if the movie is reasonably well received...she is Meryl Streep after all.
Anna Kendrick's singing takes some getting used to but I think the personality she'll bring to the role will make people grow to love it.
I didn't even mind Johnny Depp. I'd prefer they kept the prince/wolf metaphor but since they didn't, the wolf's song isn't that challenging so I'm fine with his fairly basic singing.
I wonder if all of the songs will be in the final cut of the film?

Hmm, the clips aren't working for me now so just in case they were taken down, you can find them on tumblr pretty easily.
Here's Last Midnight for example:

I can't stop listening to it!
