I would say this is a very good sign that Fantasia is before Beauty and the Beast and is coming very soon. Its playing at the El Capitan which usually means it comes out on dvd the next month.

I'd say it's a good sign it'll come before Beauty and the Beast (or atleast I hope). It'd be better if it was Fantasia getting the showing, not Fantasia 2000, as we'd then know if the new restoration is all ready. At least they're showing off Destino, to get people psyched for Fantasia World (which I hope includes all the shorts, not just Destino). In the past, I'd say you're right with the home releases being the following month after the premiere, but it's just with Dumbo, that whole theory no longer works (if it did, we'd see Dumbo next month on Blu-ray). Its sad, we have no clue what the hell Disney Home Entertainment is really doing anymore.

Just wondering, and I totally forgot about it (so how good can it really be) but they are doing a new live action version of The Sorcerer's Appentice. Even though the film has no real similarities to the original short (at least not in the trailer I've seen), but could Disney be holding out to tie the release of the film version to the release of the original short in both Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 in these new Diamond Editions. So, that would be sometime in July, possibly August at the latest, which wouldn't come soon enough for me.

Yeah I know I so wanted to see a kid dressed up as Mickey Mouse and a guy that looked like Merlin played by Nicholas Cage....no Mickey Mouse...and no Yen Sid....unless the kids name is Mickey and Nicoholas Cage is called Yen sid.

im being a tiny sarcastic okay...note the word Tiny because this is tiny font

although in a brief second of the trailer they have the broomsticks in the water helping out if you watch it closely

I dunno. I think Nicolas Cage pretty much forgot how to act, but I like Jay Baruchel, and I'd rather have a movie only based loosely on the original story than like Nic Cage in a beard and blue robe padding out 90 minutes of a film.

Since I can't be there - ask them why the Shostakovich music doesn't fit the on-screen visuals. The Concerto looks like they slapped the music onto a short already made. It's the worst Fantasia sequence ever made. It may be cute, but it aint Fantasia.

Mmm, no, don't ask them that... I like the Shostakovich scene.

Ask them where Sunflower goes to when she's digitally erased.

But Bluray is the superior format, thats a fact its not a opinon.
standard dvd does not have anywhere near the same picture resolution or sound quality that that bluray has. Bluray discs also hold alot more information that standard dvds. so i dont know where you get the idea that people calling it superior to dvd as only being an opinon.

not trying to start an argument here, just stating a simple fact.
have a great night.

I agree with at least that much, somewhere the grammar train fell off the track! As for Blu being the "superior" choice, that is more opinion.

why the heck are you not buying the disney movies on bluray if you have a ps3. Snow white and up were able to be had on bluray for under 9.99 with coupons and various other incentives when they came out on bluray last year. disney always does 10.00 coupons for there releases.

And you do realize the blurays are going to include a dvd of the movies as well right?

i really dont get you.
musicradio77 wrote:OMG! I was watching the trailer on YouTube or someplace else that both "Fantasia" and "Fantasia 2000" are coming out on Blu-Ray only as "Diamond Editions", but sadly, these films are not going to be release on DVD. What a big disappointment! I have two copies of "Fantasia" and "Fantasia 2000" on DVD which is in my collection that I copied from someplace else along with the 1991 VHS of "Fantasia" and the 2000 VHS of "Fantasia 2000".

My mother has a Blu-Ray player at my Mom's house that she got it last month. I have a PS3 and I will not looking forward to get into Blu-Ray. I have tons of DVD's, but I'm NOT going to get into Blu-Ray. I don't collect Blu-Rays, but my mother and brother also has movies on Blu-Ray including a recent release of "Up".

I'm going to buy these films for my Mom, because she has a Blu-Ray player. I have to aware that Blu-Rays are expensive to get. DVD's are lesser price than Blu-Ray.

As you can see, "Fantasia" and "Fantasia 2000" are also not going to be release as combo packs. What a shame! Too bad, it ain't going to be release on DVD, they don't make them like they used to.

I always thought the Anthology restoration was pretty underwhelming with lots of scratches and dirt still visible on the print. I have that DVD set but I am extremely eager for the Hi-Def release because I know it will breath life into the film that it has not had since its original roadshow run.

The term "fact" in this case is VERY relative. If you care about having sounds that can blow your ears out and being able to see the hairs on Captain Jack Sparow's zit, then yes, Blu-Ray is in fact the ":superior" choice.

But if you are looking for cost savings, simplicity and simply not getting into re-buying same old/ same old every ten second because some new format replaced the old one ten seconds ago, then no, it's just opinion.

Give it up Fan Boy, not everyone has gobs and gobs of money to re-buy stuff they already have over and over again or see a need to. It's that simple.

Now then, back to the issue at hand, so it seems the "Fantasia" films are coming out this December? But what about "Fantasia World?" And how many discs?

Excuse me but why the hostility and arent there rules on these forums about name calling? i

I simply stated it was a fact and not and opinon.
And stated exactly the key elements that make it superior.
Holds more data increased picture quality and sound quality.
And I can tell you with 100 percent certainty the picture and sound quality of Fantasia when it arrives on bluray will blow away the standard dvd by a long mile.

I dont know where you buy your movies at but you can get blurays at prices that are just as cheap as some dvds.
Disney has gone out of there way to to make bluray releases affordable upon their release. how many millions of people picked up Snow white, Up , Gforce, and other recent releases(alll of which were bluray dvd combo packs by the way) for 9.99 thanks to disneys 10.00 off manufactures coupons and retailers pricing these at 19.99 or less price points.
And you can certainly bet that we will be getting 10.00 off coupons for Dumbo, Fantasia,Princess and the Frog,Beauty and the Beast, and the toy story movies. heck Disney even did a 10.00 of coupon for Surrogates, and thats a touchstone pictures disney release(i picked it up for 9.99 before tax with my coupon(which by the way the standard dvd didnt have)
And can i ask why you compalin about not having gobs and gobs of money to rebuy titles over and over again on a new format, when disney is also re releasing the same titles on standard dvd at the same time(which presumbly you allready own to begin with) at least with the bluray it marks the first time each title has been released.
if you dont like rebuying stuff then why are you aksing questions about rebuying fantasia.

better yet why not instead of Attacking my post, you simply try being a bigger person and not commenting on it if you cant say something civil.

I didnt do or say anything rude to you, so there was no reason to be rude to me. but you can sure as heck bet iam reporting you to a forum moderator as soon as i submit this reply.

I wonder why they decided to run Fantasia 2000 at the el capitan this month , if the movies are now december releases.
dumbo aside the el cap re releases have always been done a month or so before the home video re release, not 10 months before.

I allready have my ticket for the opening night with the Q&A, and i know iam definately going to ask about the bluray releases of these

Remember, Fantasia 2000 doesnt need a restoration. They might be touching up the original Fantasia still. Hopefully. Unlikely.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :(

I was really looking forward to this release, since I don't own Fantasia or Fantasia 2000. Oh, well. Luke did say it was subject to change. It's still highly unlikely. Ugh. I can wait for BatB, I think the Platinum is just fine.
