I watched Superbad last night. It was okay and had a few funny moments, but not as funny as I thought it would be.

Yeah, everyone was saying this movie was hilarious! I thought it was funny, but not as much as it was built up. I found "Hot Rod" to be waaaay funnier!

I too watched Superbad last weekend, and was disappointed. I'm a big fan of the 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up. Both movies have something more important than the raw humour that is present in them. They both are in the end, really "sweet" films. They actually explore the human condition, through comedy.

Superbad has a little "sweetness" at the end, but not enough. It was all swearing and sex and ultimately without a real point.

It's like the American Pie direct to videos - they all forget the human stories which made the first 3 films so successful and as a result are just cheap, crude, wannabes. Superbad is the same to a lesser extent.

Also I only saw the extended cut. I'm not sure how much was added, but I do prefer the theatrical cut of the 40 Year Old Virgin. Sometimes, extended isn't better. Especially for comedies which can tend to drag more than drama. Oddly, the extended Knocked Up is the same length as the extended 40 Year Old Virgin, and doesn't seem to drag at all.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Watched Peggy Sue Got Married a couple nights ago, love that movie. This morning I caught a bit of Robin Hood: Men in Tights, High Fidelity, and Dirty Dancing. And right now I'm watching (of course) Groundhog Day on TBS.

Forbidden Planet (1956), always good to see Robby.

Them! (1954), better than I thought it would have been. The acting was good, especially the girl who was in shock. And was the guy who played the doctor the same man who played Chris in the original Miracle on 34th Street? Ants are sill cheesey looking though, even considering the time the movie was made. Glad 20,000 Leagues won the Oscar for best special effects that year instead of this.

The Time Machine (1960). My favorite Sci-fi movie. I don't know why, I guess I just like the elements of the 1890s look mixed with futuristic ideas, monsters (Morlocks in this case) and questions that make you think. What three books would you have taken?

Logan's Run (1976), haven't seen this movie in awhile and I still like it. Weird as hell in parts but still fun. "The City" looks like a shopping mall though.

War of the Worlds (1953), my favorite parts are when you see the alien touch the woman in the barn and when another alien's arm is seen hanging out the side of it's spaceship, just before it dies.

In Search of the Castaways (1962), great old fun from Disney. Each time I see a movie like I can't help but be reminded how much current Disney sucks in comparison to the "old days".

The Band Wagon (1953)

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), WOW! I'm so glad I watched this! The dancing and singing was great and I was surprised by how well the non musical segments were acted. Also, this is one of those movies that is a perfect example for why widescreen is better than fullscreen for DVD viewing.

Gigi (1958), perfect and wonderful. A movie that is not only one of the best of it's genre, but of any kind of film.

Earlier today I watched The Wedding Singer, which is my absolute favorite movie. Just now I watched The War of the Roses. I'd never seen it before and it was so awesome, I loved it.

It WAS, but Jayma Mays looked absolutely perfect in it. Especially in that blue, flowery dress when she first visits Gnarnia.

So true. I generally do not like Leslie Caron, even though I am a huge fan of "An American In Paris". I liked her in Gigi though. :)

As for myself, I watched:

Disney's Tarzan. I often forget how good it is! Way underrated, excellent, even beautiful film! Phil Collins did a phenomenal job on the music too! And, Jane is as gorgeous as any of Disney's girls, especially with her hair down and in her jungle outfit. Only thing that turns me off about her is her voice, though it suits the film.

He Was a Quiet Man. At first, I thought some of the "fantasy" aspects were too cheesily done, but I started falling in love with the film. The ending threw me though, and I'm going to have to watch it again before I get a handle on it. Elisha Cuthbert is one of the most gorgeous celebs out there, but I came away not liking her after this one. Don't get me wrong, it was all the fault of her character, and I'm still not sure how much of that was fantasy and how much was reality, but the character she played, depending on how you accept her, can leave you rather angry.

I just finished "Children of the Bride", a 1990 made-for-TV movie starring Rue McClanahan and Kristy McNichol. It's the first part of what turned out to be a trilogy (followed by "Baby of the Bride" and finally "Mother of the Bride").

They were filmed at the very height of Golden Girls/Empty Nest mania, and it's fun seeing Rue and Kristy playing mother and daughter. The films themselves are very lightweight and enjoyable.

I bought all three from Amazon.com for $6.00 each. They're always running out of stock, so click over and buy them before the publisher decides to delete them.
I'm just valentine candy and boxing-gloves!

I enjoy this one just for Linda Blair. Don't care for the movie itself. :D
