I bought this the other day, not got around to watching it yet however I am excited because I've heard quite good things about it.

It is very good. Out of all the different versions of A Christmas Carol that I've seen, this is one of the best. I'm looking forward to watching it again.

Watched this last night for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I agree with what others have said stating this to be a very surreal adaptation, I was pretty astounded by the sheer detail which really reminded my why I converted to Blu-Ray! Will most likely rewatch it next month nearer Christmas, it will no doubt be spectacular in 3D made me wish I had the capabilites to watch it in the third dimension but never mind still a really good film

I don't have a 3D Blu-ray player or TV and I really don't plan on getting one so I'll be buying the standard Blu-ray combo pack. Anyone know if a coupon will be available?

Also, I have a question: Will the 3D Blu-ray disc play on a standard Blu-ray player and if it does, will it give you the same effect if you're wearing 3D glasses?

I think it depends on how the 3D Blu-ray is made. I have Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on 3D Blu-ray, but I don't have a 3D player. When I start the movie up it gives an option to play in 3D or 2D. If I choose 3D it says my TV and/or player doesn't support it and stays at the menu until I choose 2D.

You're right. 3D has the option of having the 2D version on the same disc. For one reason or another, Disney didn't use this feature.

And there wouldn't be a need in having 2 Blu-ray versions. I think Disney did this to avoid confusion.

But in A Christmas Carols case, remember you can show the PiP footage full screen (although I do think this is the SD content upscaled rather than native 1080p like The Rocky Horror Picture Show's Shadowcast appears to be).

But if it is, you'd need the 2D film, 2D film PiP content, 3D film all on the same disc. And while I don't know for sure, I'd also guess 3D HD content takes up more space than 2D HD content.

I think Disney would have to produce two BDs anyway because they would need a 2D and 3D release. You really have no idea how stupid the public can be and having 3D displayed prominently on the case could put off ignorant purchasers who only have 2D compatible systems. So far no company has (as far as I know) released only a single disc BD with 2D and 3D for a new release, only re-releases. Even the upcoming IMAX releases seem to be 2 discs (1 2D BD the other 3D BD). I would guess partly to reduce confusion and partly to be able to charge/justify more for the 3D version.

With the extras, etc... it makes sense to do a 3D only disc.

The Cloudy 3D Blu-ray is pretty bare bones with extras (no DVD or digital copy), and its normally more expensive than the Blu-ray combo pack. The only reason I purchased it over the combo was a price mistake a few months ago that made it cheaper than the combo.

If they clearly advertise it as having both versions on the same disc, how can that be confusing? Some consumers might not be the brightest bulbs, but surely they could handle that?
And with 3D you have to add half the size of the 2D version. So if a movie is 30 GB, both of them together is 45 GB. Since A Christmas Carol is only 98 minutes long, it definitely could've been done. I don't know the size of a PiP feature, but since the picture is small, I doubt that it would take up much space. In any case, it could've been done, but Disney would rather advertise having 4 discs in a single package, without having any content that's worthwhile.

does best buy actually have this cheaper than Target? the 4 disc I mean....it looks like its $27.99 on sale and if they take the $10 off coupon...its $17.99 That's $2 off Target w/ the coupon if that's correct...unless that's the BB ONLINE price and if it is, I'll be mad.


Also, I just checked target's website since my target app on my iPod claimed this movie was ONLINE ONLY and it said, when I checked to see if my stores had any copies "not for sale, the sale date is 11/16/2010" But it IS 11/16/2010!

I bought the standard combo pack today at Wal-Mart (the non-3D pack) and they let me use the 10.00 off coupon, so the total came up 11.01 instead of 19.95 (the standard price for the standard blu-ray combo)

Good luck, Best Buy hasn't been taking the Disney coupons for the last few releases, they claim that the movies are already on sale. I've been going anywhere BUT Best Buy with the coupons.

I didn't have a problem using the coupon with Toy Story 3 at Best Buy.

You have a good Best Buy then because a lot of them aren't taking them anymore. One Best Buy actually tried to keep my coupon when I said I was going to buy the disc elsewhere since they wouldn't accept it. I literally had to pull it out of the manager's hand. I have been to several in my area and I know people are being told the same thing I have been there in other areas.
