When I saw this film since it came out on DVD when I got it today, this film is going down the drain. "Tinkerbell" is one of the films in the Fairies franchise where they took place in a place called Pixie Hollow.
Is this suppose to be a prequel to a 1953 classic animated Disney film "Peter Pan"? Maybe! It has the birth of Tinkerbell with her white gown after the fairies poured pixie dust on it and turns into Tinkerbell. That's why she was born.
Another problem with this film is where Tinkerbell speaks, that is a dumb idea, I've never seen Tink talks in a Disney film, I don't get it. Take a look back to "Peter Pan", an Disney animated film from 1953, she was silent in the whole film as well as "Return to Neverland", she doesn't speak either, and so the old Disney TV shows from the 50's and 60's including "Disneyland", "Walt Disney Presents", "Wonderful World of Color" and the "Wonderful World of Disney". All of these classic Disney TV shows where Tinkerbell appeared did not speak. As for the new movie "Tinkerbell", she talks.
This film is going down, I'm not a big fan of the Disney Fairies, but I prefer Tinkerbell over the other fairies in the franchise. I like her where she doesn't talk, but Tinkerbell talks in the whole movie? Come on!
I hope there's going to be other sequels to "Tinkerbell" that Disney would be working for in the future.
Mae Whitman's voice was awful. It was originally rumored that Brittany Murphy was supposed to do the voice of Tinkerbell, but it didn't work, so she went on to do the voice in "Happy Feet".
What about the ending to this film, I saving it just for spoilers. I should give this film a thumbs down. Not the best film ever. This film is in CGI, but the first two films "Peter Pan" and "Return to Neverland" are traditional 2D animation. "Peter Pan" is still a classic.
"Tinkerbell" is not one of my favorites, "Peter Pan" is still one of the best. I should avoid the movie at all costs.

At first I was sort of rolling my eyes at the thought of this movie.... but that was ages ago when it was first announced. Now I think I'm actually going to pick it up this week and check it out.
I generally dislike DTV sequels/prequels, but something about the style of the animation.. and just the beautiful settings we caught a glimpse of in the trailer changed my mind.
Also, (I'm a bit embarrassed to admit- seeing as I'm a college student-
) But, I've actually read a couple of the books from the Disney Fairies line, and I rather enjoyed them. Even though though there seems to be little continuation as far as the characters are concerned, from the books to the movie. I think I'm actually looking forward to it now. It'll be interesting to seeing how they portray Tink in this environment that is set apart from her roles in PP.

I bought the DVD today and I enjoyed it...
I'd put it along the lines of a "decent" Disney sequel (I consider Cindy and Mermaid III better than "decent" BTW...) or an exteneded "Enchanted Tales" feature.
I think the movie would have been much better as a musical, or perhaps 2D animated. I wished the other faries had been featured more. Especially, Rosetta! Love Cheno!!!!
From the deleted scenes it seems like they were in the original version of the film and it had changed quite a lot....
Overall I'd give it a B+ for effort. Cute....

I loved it! Im glad it wasnt a musical since Tinkerbell talking is already a bit much. Her singing would just be to out there. But this is a nice origin story for Tink. Now I know im probably hoping for to much but I hope they do another involving her meeting Peter and what happened to her to make her become mute.
And they ofcourse had Wendy make a cameo which was nice but ofcourse it looked nothing like her.
Also this filmed has changed so much its amazing they had so many problems on the film.
But ya, if they can end up doing one as a sort of prequel to Tink becoming who she is in PeterPan that would be great.
And I guess something pretty bad happens to all the faeries to make NeverNeverLand become so disenchanting.

Tinkerbell was never mute. Its been explained that pixies speak in a voice so high that humans can't hear it (unless this is proven wrong in the movie). That's why you hear jingle bells. Not to mention that Peter would understand Tink perfectly, so she is clearly not mute.
What I would like to know, how, is how she became a bitchy and jealousy prone character in the movie.

She can speak in this film because she is communicating with her own kind. Much like Lady & The Tramp can speak to each other but they can't speak to the humans. And Kenai from Brother Bear can speak to the other animals, but he can't speak to the humans.Atlantis wrote:Now I know im probably hoping for to much but I hope they do another involving her meeting Peter and what happened to her to make her become mute.
If there is anything that needs explaining it is how she changes from this sweet little girl (that she is in 'Tinkerbell') to the jealous, hateful, murderous girl that she is in 'Peter Pan'.
edit:
haha pap64 you beat me too it ! but yes... i second that !

ok but Tinkerbell and Peter never exchange words with oneanother. Its more like they have a mutual understanding of one another.
And we saw a bit of Tinks bitchy side in the film, but ofcourse her jelously is most likely do to liking Peter. Though they can probably come up with a valid reason to have her attitude change permanatly.
Im thinking perhaps something happens to Pixie Hollow and Tink is pissed off that she has to stay in NNL or she thinks she is to good for Petes friends.

Thanks for the info about this one heck of a movie. "Tinkerbell" was a big disgrace, because Tinkerbell speaks for the first time in a movie. Previous Disney films like "Peter Pan" and "Return to Neverland" are the other two films that did not speak except the old Disney TV shows from the 50's through the 70's including "Disneyland", "Walt Disney Presents", "Wonderful World of Color" and the "Wonderful World of Disney" where Tink makes an appearance in every episode.
Imagine if you watched the old Tom & Jerry cartoons that they did not speak in all of the shorts through the years except a few cartoon had Tom speaks periodically. I used to watched T&J on TV back when I was a kid. Pluto does not talk in all of the cartoons.
As for "Tinkerbell", it's a doggone disgrace. Tink speaks for the first time and this film was a big disaster. I prefer the classic Tinkerbell rather than the CGI one. Every time she sees it during the fireworks show at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World back then where they did "Fantasy in the Sky" as well as "Wishes!" from Disney World and "Remember Dreams Come True" at Disneyland where Tink makes an appearance during the fireworks.
"Tinkerbell" is not one of my favorite Disney films ever made. "Peter Pan" was good.

She is only in it for like a minute top. Tinkerbell returns her ballerina music box (whatever its called) to her. We only know its Wendy by her mother calling her (which I think they used a sound clip from the original film but im not sure). And I would say this is before her youngest brother is born...since she looked pretty young.
Here is Wendy:

I think people upset about Tink talking are just getting wound-up over nothing. It wasn't meant to be a full-blooded sequel to Peter Pan, it was meant to jump-start a Tinker Bell franchise for tween(?) girls. In ten years time it'll be a piece of the past, and beyond being referenced in "I Love the New Millenium: Part Four" on VH1, there's a good chance that once the fairy idea stops working for Disney, they'll cancel the franchise and this movie will be largely forgotten.
Besides, I don't see how it's that big of a leap of faith to believe that the fairies on Never Land and Pixie Hollow can communicate with each other without us hearing their voices sounding like bells. I mean, nobody complained when Mulan didn't speak Chinese in her movie. Would the Tinker Bell voice thing be different if this movie was theatrical and actually held up very well to Peter Pan? What if you got your complex plots, breath-taking score, gorgeous CGI animation, and all in a theater to make it seem more legit? Then would you care about Tink's voice not sounding like bell chimes?

But someone probably said it before that.yukitora wrote:Although I could see traits of the quickly ill-tempered Tink from the 50's classic, it seems as though by the end of the series she'll become a better person, rather than the jealous, easily betraying, almost murderous fairy she is when she goes back to London.
I wonder how Disney/Lasseter is gonna stay true to the classic here.

according to the commercials for "new in november" Disney Channel will be airing this.
I wish they'd premiere CARS or MEET THE ROBINSONS or ENCHANTED instead.
I may rent this movie, but at the moment, I don't want to buy it.

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.
