The season started off a little slow ... But still quite enjoyable ... and then it was kicked into high gear.
Bree became my favorite character at the end of Season 1 ... and it is truly a shame that Marcia Cross was not nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of Bree this season ... Marcia is truly an incredible actress and Bree was "simply magnificent" in Season 2.
Gaby finally hit her mark. Eva Longoria has learned some tricks ... She turned the spoiled Gabrielle into a comedic tour de force. Gaby gets some of the funniest one-liners and scenarios this season.
Susan continues to pine for Mike. Their on-again/off-again romance takes center stage in Susan's life. There are a few bumps in the road ... Carl ... Dr. Ron ... and Carl again ... But the season ends with a would-be proposal interrupted ... by a vengeful dentist named Orson.
Lynette's work follies were fun to watch ... Tom became a stay-at-home dad ... but halfway through the season he felt emasculated (hey wasn't it his decision to stay at home?) ... so he enters the workforce with his wife ... But trips to Atlantic City ... and a brawl with his boss get him fired ... Oh ... and didn't he forget to tell Lynette about that daughter he has with the dancer ???
Edie continued her rivalry with Susan. But ... there was a truce at one point ... and Edie called Susan a "sister" ... But when Edie noticed that bad things happen when she gets around Susan ... the truce ended.
And let us not forget about the new neighbors ... Betty and Matthew (oh wait ... there's Caleb too) ... I was very intrigued by the new neighbors at the end of Season 1 ... But the Season 2 "mystery" was not up to par with Season 1's Mary Alice mystery ... It took the writers too long to incorporate the Applewhites with the rest of the housewives ... There were plenty of episodes which either had only a scene or two ... or didn't even have the Applewhites in it at all ... I did enjoy the inspired pairing of Bree and Betty as confidantes ... and possibly friends ... Alfre, Mehcad, and NaShawn were terrific ... too bad they didn't have much to work with ...

I agree with you whole-heartedly! Marcia Cross is an extraordinary actress and, in my opinion, the most talented of all five housewives. Bree has and always will be my favorite character on Desperate Housewives.
P.S.
Season two is even better the second time around!
I just watched "Arrested Development" season 3 and "The Comeback" complete series. Both extremely funny shows. So sad that both are cancelled. Both won Emmys, too. "Arrested Development" is my favorite of the two. If you've never seen it you should rent it and if you saw it but didn't like it, you should try watching just the first 5 episodes. The reason it's funny is because of the characters and it takes a bit of time to get to know them. My favorite episode from season 3 was "S.O.B's" which stands for Save Our Bluthes. It greatly parodied what the creators were doing to try to save the show with the family trying to raise money to save the company. I'm glad they knew it was ending so they could tie up the loose ends. The same can not be said for "The Comeback." Lisa Kudrow was expecting a second season so it ended that way. It's a very funny show. The premise is that Valarie Cherish (Kudrow) was a big star in the early 90's, but couldn't get a job after her hit show got canceled. It's now 10 years later and NBC is making two shows at once: a crappy sitcom called Room & Board in which they plan to re-launch an actresses career and The Comeback which is a reality show about that actress. What you get to see in the show is "raw footage" of The Comeback. It's hysterical. Valarie Cherish constantly tries to control the situations around her to make her seem holier than thou and she keeps failing. Everytime something goes wrong, she does a time out signal to tell the producers "this can't be shown," even though the final product will obviously consist primarily of these segments. It's brilliant. I can see why it didn't catch on, but I can't get enough of it. Too bad it had to end.
I've finally finished watching Desperate Housewives: The Complete Second Season, today.
Overall, it was much stronger than I remember it being, when they were broadcast. As I said, earlier, it really helps to be able to watch these episodes back to back, without having to wait a week, or longer, to see the next one.
I feel that the cast is still one of the strongest on television, and I loved the addition of Alfre Woodard as Betty Applewhite. I wish that they would have incorporated more of her, and her family, into the story. One thing that they never cleared up, though, is where is Matthew and Caleb's father? Did he and Betty get a divorce? Were they ever married? Why wasn't that part explained? There were only two times the father was mentioned. Once, in the beginning, when Matthew tells Bree and Danielle that his father was dead. However, Betty then makes the remark, "Telling them your father is dead...that's a little morbid, don't you think?" Then, there was the story that Betty told the doctor, when she was trying to get him to prescribe the sleeping pills (which she would feed to Caleb). Saying that her husband was abusive to her, and eventually her son (not Matthew or Caleb). There was so much more that could have been done with that story.
At any rate, I think most of the developments that happened during the second season are going to have interesting resolutions during the third season. I'm interested in finding out what the situation is with Mike. Where does he know Orson from? Why did Orson run Mike over? Also, what is Orson's interest in Bree?
The only development I'm not really looking forward to is the one of Tom and Lynette. I'm sorry, but, I don't like the fact that they wrote Tom as having had a one night stand, before he met Lynette, and from that one night stand, he has another child. The lady that they hired to play his one night stand is very grating on the nerves. Who knows?! Maybe she'll drive Lynette to kill her. That would be a great end to that story! (Kidding, of course. I don't believe that they would really write that into the story).
Other than that, I'm very happy with Season 2. It's much stronger than the critics gave it credit for, and I'm very excited for Season 3!
Well, it's a Volume rather than a season, but I'm in the midst of Tale Spin Volume 1.
I seem to have no luck getting any second season sets, but I have a nice pile of first seasons. Some I haven't even gotten to watch yet.
These are the ones I have:
Family Guy Season 1 and 2 (happily, this set has season two, so that's my only season 2...)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer 1
Smallville 1
Batman the Animated Series 1
Wonder Woman 1
DuckTales V. 1
Aqua teen Hunger Force 1
Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers 1
Darkwing Duck 1
Talespin 1
Lizzie McGuire 1
Gargoyles 1
Kolchak the Night Stalker the Complete Series (but my copy is screwy and I need to exchange it for a new one)
And... that might be it, but I may have forgotten something. Also have random Sailor Moon DVDs, and some other animated shows in "selected episodes" editions or pilot movies.
I finished the second season of Desperate Housewives last Tuesday. I loved season two and I'm majorly looking forward to season three! This show is without a doubt today's best television show!
I'm about half way done with the second season of Lost, which is a real treat because I didn't watch seasons one or two on TV. I received a Best Buy gift card last Christmas, and since all of my friends had been constantly been talking about Lost, I bought season one with the card to see what all the hype was about. So I watched the DVD and LOVED it. But of course, season two had already started airing on TV and I had to wait until now before I could see season two...but it was worth it! Season two is awesome and I can't wait to see what happens at the end!
Just finished Season Four of Silk Stalkings, probably one of the best guy-girl cop shows ever on television. Rob Estes and Mitzi Kapture were just great along with the supporting cast that featured Charlie Brill and Mitzi McCall and John Byner. I loved this show, and now I have to go get Season Five so can complete the series.
Also finished Season One of Rawhide with Clint Eastwood and Eric Fleming. This was one of the best written western shows until "Maverick" came along, but it also gave them a run for their money. Can't wait for Season Two and also am looking forward to Season One of "Maverick".
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!
I have the OC seasons 1 and 2. Its basically what you see on TV the bonus features are minimal with very short gag reals and behind the scene footage. Hopefully season 3s set is better
On Saturday I finished Season 2 of LOST [the second time for me, since I watched it on ABC but my friend had only seen Season 1, which I had let him borrow the week before]. The most consecutive time I've ever devoted to a TV set, but it's just so good. Can't wait until Season 3 on Oct. 4!!!
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?
I just finished season 5 of Smallville. In my opinion, the season had a rocky start, but became strong and ended in a cliff hanger that is making me stay home on the 28th to catch the conclusion. lol.
Before that I finished season 2 of The Office. So much funnier than season 1 and I love where they went story wise with Pam and Jim. Can't wat for that conclusion this Thursday. Another great thing about season 2 is we finally get to see the rest of the cast and they are all hysterical. Kevin has now become my second favorite character. Nobody is funnier than Dwight Schrute!
Before that I watched season 2 of Lost Wow! What great writing and acting. The whole season was strong and held my interest and the finale was ever so shocking!!!!! But that's the great part about Lost. Also, the bonus features are stupendous! I now compare all TV bonus features to what Disney does with Lost.
Before the I finished the 7th season of The Simpsons and was surprised to find 2 episodes I'd never seen before!!!!! lol.
And before that I watched the 5th season of 3rd Rock From the Sun. A great season, but the only extra this time around was a blooper reel. Anchor Bay has given the other seasons a good treatment. I hope the 6th and final season has some new cast interviews about the end of the show.
