Not until at least the show premieres...and is fully casted...and written...

Then maybe a month or two later.

I'm looking forward to this show even more with every bit of news I hear. I live in the UK so I don't know why! I just wish they weren't closing Beauty and the Beast for it!

Norm Lewis is an incredible singer. I've never been lucky enough to see him perform in person, but he has a great voice, and is a commanding presence when need be, which I think will work great here. I only hope he gets more to do than what he initially had on the demo tracks.

A black King Triton - no ploblem, but if I was him, I would be a little confused about my white daughter...

So far the cast sounds interesting. I can handle a black King Triton. Hopefully I'll be able to see the little mermaid on broadway in the near future.

The Little Mermaid On Broadway

Post by Disney Duster »

I've got to admit...I would like genetics and facts to be present in this thing. The only reason I could see for Ariel's father to be a different race from her is that in merfolk, genetics don't apply. Take a look at Ariel's sister's tails, all vastly different colors from the tails Ariel or her father. And their hair is balck, brown, and blonde, all different from Ariel's red. In fact, something interesting is that Ariel has a blue-green tail and Triton has a blue one, and Ariel has red hair and Triton used to have red hair (evident in a television episode). So all of Ariel's sisters are different from her and their father, and Ariel and triton are a lot alike in color of tail and hair. Now that's been changed with Ariel and her father being different races. But if genetics don't apply under the sea...okay, it just makes merfolk even cooler!

Maybe Ariel's mom was up to some not G rated behavior and TRiton was too stupid to figure it out?

Well, it stands to reason that since Merfolks naughty bits are now fish parts, that females would lay eggs and the males would secrete their sperm into the ocean to fertilize those eggs. It is possible that other nasty fish juice got into the mix. However, that doesn't sound very Disney, does it?

Maybe blue-green fins are a recessive gene and one in every 8 merfolk have them, which would make it genetically more fesable that Ariel's sisters tails would be pink, orange, red, etc...

If there is a God and if He smiles down upon us, I won't gag nearly as much at "The Little Mermaid" as I did at "Wicked".

I don't think I can ever watch the Little Mermaid the same way again. :P But Mermaids aren't half fish. I remember from biology, fish swin their tails left to right, mammals are up and down. Mammals birth live young, fish lay eggs. So mermaids must birth live young like a whale or dolphin.

Now that this cat is out of the bag though, here is one I've always wondered. Since the Mermaid anatomy is a lot like a human's, on which end to they go potty number 2? Would it be on the front like most sea creatures or the backside like a human? Anyone else ever wonder that?

I confess, I have often wondered this. I eventually assumed it was backside, just due to the human tendencies.

You guys should go to:
http://disney.go.com/theatre/thelittlem ... index.html

In the background, you can hear "Part of That World" & "Under the Sea." It sounds like new voices. Very diferent from the demos & the movie.

You all should check it out and then say what you think of the voices. Personally, I think it's great.
