Yeah, they made him in the style of these shorts, like so...

...but they have yet to actually show him in a short!

Mickey is quite the world traveler this time around. 8)

In this day and age he probably needs to be since he is the mascot of a world wide corporation. Man, now I see Mickey as a good wills ambassador.

Since the next episode will be taking place in China, I hope it'll have a cameo appearance by Mulan.

This series is actually pretty good! Mickey needs something fresh to work with currently, in this decade aside from Three Musketeers/House of Mouse the gang's been really underutilized (not counting videogames, that is), they need new material to work with in this age and something that's not only for the preschooler audience.

The only criticism I'd give would be Goofy...He's my favorite, so I'm gonna be a little nitpicky when it comes to him, but his attitude in No Service really threw me off, and his new design is really blegh (as compared to the others of the gang, who have been cuteified to the extreme for this series).

Still, this series is fun. Hope we see more characters of Mickey's world in this series, like Scrooge McDuck, or Clarabelle Cow, or Max Goof...Perhaps even Oswald.

If this series has enough success and attention, maybe Disney could make a new animated series about these characters...It's hoping too much but still...

Well, in regards of "No Service", as I said before, they all had an attitude, even Mickey. In regards of Goofy, here's what TVTropes.org (a great site by the way) said on the matter:

This is probably just a case of Goofy receiving the "George Geef" treatment by him getting cast in random roles. Plus, Goofy often was grumpy in some of his classic shorts, too, especially in the '50s and '60s ones (i.e., "Motor Mania", in which Goofy plays an average suburbanite who is an entirely different person once behind the wheel).

And as for Goofy's design, I think they were trying to go for the Dippy Dawg look of old:

Panda-monium

Written and directed by former SpongeBob director, Aaron Springer.

The highlight of this cartoon is the art direction.

I'm getting a bit tired of Disney blocking these shorts for other countries. I've only seen Croissant de Triomphe. I'm pirating the last few now because I am done.

Well, thank God I live in United States. :D Anyway, the next episode will be called Bad Ear Day. I don't know what's about, but I think it something to do with Mickey having a bad ear day.

You can watch the shorts legally on Disney's Australian website.

@ Big Disney Fan: in that same picture you posted lies the problem. Look at the Gang barring Pete. They all look super-duper cute with their pie-hole big chibi eyes and tiny plump bodies. Donald and Daisy even resemble a baby's features, their designs looking young, round and soft.

In comparision, Goofy looks like a deranged hobo. Not cute, or awkward/weird-cute as he was before.

Just watched Panda-monium, bonus for it being somewhat in Chinese.

Maybe they were trying to go for a hobo version of Goofy's "Dippy Dawg" self?

That's not funny. I mean, I'm not a fan of Goofy's design either, but I'm sure Paul Rudish has his reasons.

Well, he probably does. But I don't know what they are and I'm just trying to think of something based on the comments made here.

"Croissant de Triomphe" has won two special Emmy Awards, awarded to Background Painter Jenny Gase-Baker and Art Director Joseph Holt.
