I really would like to see The Sword In The Stone get a 50th Anniversary Edition around Nov./Dec. I'm pretty sure we will, but it's not going to be the long over due release we've all been waiting for. Disney just doesn't want to venture into the vualts and rumage around and find some well worth items to included as special features.

I think Disney is going to re-release all their movies when they're done, they are following the gold collections suit. Start off releasing as many bare bones releases as you can then go from there.

That would certainly be a nice thought, I'd love to see them do that. I could see things going one of two ways:

1. Disney's physical releases just become worse and worse with less features and less effort put into them until there's either a new format or until digital distribution becomes a bigger share of the market over physical releases, at which point they could eventually stop physical releases altogether, or only release completely barebones physical editions.

2. As things do become more and more digital, Disney starts focusing their physical releases on collectors because the average consumer and casual fan will use digital means to watch Disney films. So we could see more expensive collectors editions that are more specifically focused for collectors, with lots of features and more collector-oriented artwork and packaging. I really hope they take this route, as we've discussed many times on this board how collectors will forever love to "own" these films.

Personally, I don't think Disney's physical releases are going to get worse then they are, because they've pretty much hit rock bottom. I don't think that a physical copy of movies will ever be completely phased out either. Look at music, a majority of all sales of music are purchased through itunes and other digital media methods. We still have physical albums coming out and being put into stores though. If anything they may go down a route where you have to order the physical copy if you can't find it, but I think we will always have some sort of method of getting a physical copy.

But is it even worth it if they just keep putting out stupid, barebones releases? Sure, they may always be available physically, but there's no point in buying them if they don't add any value to the copies most of us already own. That's why I hope they realize that the collectors market needs to be their best friend in the digital age. You're right about the fact that CDs are still available, but look at who's buying them- collectors, because they like to own something physical. No one is buying them solely for the music, or else they'd do it digitally. It will continue to be the same with movies: your average viewer just cares about watching the movie itself. The only people who will continue to buy physically will be collectors because they like to have a physical product.

It's highly unlikely, but once they get around to the package features on blu-ray I would love to see them include John Henry as a bonus cartoon on the Melody Time disc. It'd be get good to see it with it's own opening and closing cards/credits. Otherwise I doubt we'd ever see it on blu-ray.

Wow! 'Lilo and Stitch: Stitch Has a Glitch' has great animation! I never knew that... I'll definitely watch it when it's released in Blu-Ray!

Robin Hood and Hercules will be released on Blu-ray in the fall in Britain. This probably indicates a U.S release around the same time.

I hope they will include it. It is included in our DVD edition of Make Mine Music that came out here in Sweden in 2007. :D

They probably will. If not, I'm ordering it, because I somehow don't see them releasing the package features on BD anytime soon.

I will buy this either way (even on DVD) because it is not yet part of my collection. Sure wish they could just release it on BD, but I'll be glad to get it.

Its possible that we can get them in August or September, we got the last batch a tiny bit earlier than the UK.

Herc and Robin Hood BETTER get worthwhile releases, it's obvious they deserve them after all this time.
