You're lucky I didn't say anything about their un-deserved wins in the other categoriesDisneyJedi wrote:Sotiris, how dare you?
Please tell me which track of the soundtrack was this 'epic and nostalgic' music on. Unless by nostalgic you mean 8-bit music. Because I've listened to the whole thing and there's nothing award-deserving there.DisneyJedi wrote:I thought the music was well done in said movie, epic and nostalgic!
Well which film would you have given it to?
I agree with DisneyJedi - there are some AWESOME moments in the score. I think you should revisit it. To give specific tracks, the main theme, "Wreck-it Ralph" is just plain awesome. The last minute or two of "Rocket Fiasco" when Ralph is getting his medal is epic as anything. The entirety of "Royal Raceway" deserves more appearances in the score, especially the part that comes in at 1:25. "Candy Vandals" is badass. "One Minute to Win It" captures the spirit of that scene perfectly. The sad moments during "King Candy" and "Broken Karted" when Ralph is making the tough decision are heartbreaking. And then entire finale, "Sugar Rush Showdown", "You're My Hero", and "Arcade Finale" are all perfect to me. 2:35 in "You're My Hero", COME ON! You can't not love that.

I wish that were enough to wake Disney up and keep this show going...estefan wrote:Character Design in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production: Robert Valley - Tron Uprising

I would’ve thought Brave would win for the score. I didn’t notice anything particularly deserving from WIR’s score.
I’m not sure how it won in Voice Acting either, tbh.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

I thought Brave should have won for Best Music. The music to WIR was nice, and that's about it. The music to Brave was just gorgeous. The songs needs more recongizition.Disney's Divinity wrote:I would’ve thought Brave would win for the score. I didn’t notice anything particularly deserving from WIR’s score.

I thought WIR deserved Best VA the most. Alan Tudyk was great!

I agree with Sotiris. I've listened to almost all the the soundtracks nominated. I'd go with Rise of the Guardians or Brave. They both pack much more emotion into the music that meshes well with the visuals. I came away from both movies remembering bits of score from them. I didn't have that experience with WIR. The music works really well in that movie, but it's not the kind that you notice (with the exception of the songs) while watching the movie or that is particularly enjoyable to listen to by itself.
Can't comment on Adventures in Zambezia. I do think Jon Brion's score for Paranorman should have been nominated, though. It was refreshingly simple, but still emotive.

Thank you for posting, estefan! What an unusual turn that took. I expected this short to be very different based on the trailer I saw quite a few months ago.
Oh, and I miss hand-drawn. Paperman's technique is lovely and all, but it still can't quite replace the looseness and occassional distortion one can do in hand-drawn. Adam and Dog looks beautiful, even if it has some rough spots. At times, the animation wasn't inbetweened. I don't think it was a stylistic decision ... the budget probably ran out.
