Well, the read-along is released on the 18th Feb, telling us we can 'relive the film' so presumably it will be released before then?

The Tink movies do change their plot a heck of a lot .... look at the first trailer for 'The Great Fairy Rescue'; it looks like a practically different film !

I don't think so. Tinker Bell's outfit is too iconic to permanently change it. I think it's just a new product line that's not meant to replace the usual depiction of the fairies. Tinker Bell has been rendered in many different styles and in different clothing in the past for various merchandise but her original image was never replaced.

Jolly good, what I like to hear !

Her outfit (and all of her friends) change from each movie; guess these look so darn awful that I'm noticing them more then they are actually being used.

Only Fawn looked bad, in my opinion! I wouldn't mind seeing them in these outfits in a future film...

I just hope it's not like the princess redesigns, where we'll be seeing them permanently. The princess ones were bad enough.

Q: At the last D23 in 2011, Planes had just been announced from Disneytoon Studios. It was supposed to be a straight-to-DVD film, but now it opens in theaters on day of your newest D23 appearance.

John Lasseter: It’s going to have a screening there opening day for everybody and we'll be showing some behind-the-scenes stuff with that as well as talking about next year’s Planes: Fire and Rescue and we're talking about The Pirate Fairy, which is the next in the Tinkerbell series and it’s phenomenal, it’s really cool.

Q: My little girl loves those , so I've seen those ones a lot.

John Lasseter: Secret of the Wings was a major step up and The Pirate Fairy really, oh you guys are going to love this one, it’s really great.

I hope it's on the same league as 'Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure' and 'Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue'! I was slightly disappointed with 'Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings', but it was still a nice film. I just felt the story should have been a little more powerful!

ooooo Skull Rock ! That hasn't been seen since 'The Lost Treasure' ? It is irritating how they have removed 'Tinker Bell' from all adverts though, it doesn't have to be 'Tink &...' just having her name somewhere might be nice.

Tinker Bell updates fresh from the D23 Expo via Twitter.

The Pirate Fairy will be released in spring 2014 and will be directed by Peggy Holmes and produced by Jenni Magee-Cook. The film will focus on Zarina, voiced by Christina Hendricks, who is the pirate fairy and the ship's captain and her human cabin boy James, voiced by Tom Hiddleston. James is in fact a young Captain James Hook. Zarina is described as a "red-haired bad-ass fairy who falls for Hiddleston's character". They've played a storyboard clip from the film featuring a song called "A Frigate that Flies" which was described as a "classic pirate-style song". This will be the first time the film series will feature Never Land.

Legend of the Never Beast will be released in spring 2015 and will be directed by Steve Loter and produced by Makul Wigert. The name of the Never Beast is Ruff, and was described as looking like something "straight from The NeverEnding Story".

More information about The Pirate Fairy.
Lasseter says that one of the first projects they worked on was with the Peter Pan character Tinker Bell and that they've been working with her since, exploring the land of Pixie Hollow. They are now announcing two new Tinkerbell movies, The first is called the Legend of the Never Beast and the second, said to be tied closer to the original Peter Pan story, is titled The Pirate Fairy.

Christina Hendricks will voice Zarina, the titular character in The Pirate Fairy, and her cabin boy, James, will be voiced by Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston. And now Hendricks and Hiddleston out on stage! Hendricks says that it’s extraordinary to be invited into the Disney family and that’s it great to actually be a fairy. Thanks to cameras in the recording booth she actually does see her facial expressions in Zarina. Hiddleston says that James is educated and polite, and energetic and kind, and he and Zarina get along at first. Unfortunately, James is actually covering for his cunning nature – as he is really Captain Hook.

Now we're actually seeing a musical sequence from the film! The scene was in storyboard form, but still fun to watch, the gang of pirates singing about all the places they can go on a flying ship. Hiddleston actually has a really impressive singing voice.

Zarina, the newest fairy in Pixie Hollow, will be voiced by the voluptuous Christina Hendricks, playing a seafaring, smart, swashbuckling fairy who creates a new type of Pixie Dust that gives her the power of all the other fairies’ talents. Tinker Bell must find a way to return things to normal. Zarina also keeps some sinister company.

Disneytoon Studio’s latest Tinker Bell movie, The Pirate Fairy, turns the community of Pixie Hollow on its head when dust-keeper fairy Zarina snatches the Hollow’s essential Blue Pixie Dust — and joins the pirates of Skull Rock. Among them is a young rogue named James, who is better known by his future title: Captain Hook. None other than Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, will be the voice behind the young soon-to-be villain. “Cabin Boy James is educated and polite and energetic and charming and attentive. James and Zarina are steady on. They're like best friends … for a while,” said Hiddleston. “It’s all an act. He’s covering for his ruthless and cunning nature.” Hendricks chimed in: “Imagine the betrayal!”

Director Peggy Holmes announced the casting news Friday morning at D23, Disney’s what’s-coming-next expo and celebration. "We start to bridge Tink’s world of Pixie Hollow and her world of Peter Pan,” Holmes told the D23 crowd. The Pirate Fairy further complicates things for Tinker Bell and her pals when they discover that all their respective talents have been switched — forcing them to walk in each other’s little pixie booties.

The stars and director Peggy Holmes showed some unfinished footage from the toon, with the highlight being the rousing musical number "A Frigate That Flies" sung by the pirate crew about their flying boat. It will surely prove to be a popular number once the movie is released. Zarina doesn't suspect for the longest time that seemingly innocuous cabin boy James is really the secret leader of the pirates she's found herself in tow with, and that betrayal will have ripple effects.

Director Peggy Holmes revealed that the film will be about Zarina, a ship's captain who is also a fairy. A young Captain James Hook will be played by Thor's Tom Hiddleston, who, along with Hendricks, made an appearance on stage and explained the plot: "Zarina leaves her community at Pixie Hollow and she goes out into the seas of Neverland where she makes friends with some pirates. Cabin boy James is educated and polite and energetic and charming and kind, and James and Zarina are best friends... for a while. And eventually you realise that it's all an act, covering for his ruthless and cunning nature as the captain of the boat. His real name is Captain Hook."
Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/disn ... ealed.html
Director Peggy Holmes introduced Hiddleston and Hendricks to a rabid crowd of fans at the event. Hiddleston says his character, James, appears to be the perfect pirate traveling companion for Zarina. "James and Zarina are like best friends for a while. But you realize it's all an act and he's covering his ruthless and cunning nature," said Hiddleston. "And his real name is Captain Hook. Captain James Hook." "He's Hook before the hook," added Holmes.

Hiddleston, who sings a pirate song in the film, showed he is a true Disney fan by talking about how he often whistles Bare Necessities from The Jungle Book to make "everything better." Holmes said Hendricks was needed to voice "a tough, kick-ass pirate with some vulnerability." Mad Men star Hendricks said it was a lifelong dream to appear in a Disney film, especially as a fairy. She described watching her character onscreen as "kind of magical."

The Pirate Fairy will focus on Christina Hendricks’ Zarina, who the Mad Men actress describes as “scrappy and inquisitive and smart and scientific and daring and really fun to play.” Not your average Disney pixie, then. “She's a dust-keeper and is trying to break out of her category and experiment and discover things. She's trying to change her fortune. So she ends up stealing some blue pixie dust and ends up getting in some big trouble. But helpfully her fairy friends reach out.” [...]

The role was a welcome one for the actor, who admits to being a massive Disney fan and delighted to visit the studio. He broke into his own collection to research the role and find the right, er, hook for his character. “In Peter Pan, he's got this amazing, theatrical quality. He sounds like a real, old-school villain. While I was playing him as a younger man, I wanted to retain some of that gravel in his voice and delight in his mischief. His innate wickedness. He's not someone who has ever pretended to be a hero, he loves the fact he's a pirate captain. I also remembered Dustin Hoffman playing him in Hook and I saw Ian McKellen play him at the National Theatre about 15 years ago. And I wanted to bring my own sense of who I thought he was. The thing that's never been done before is I play him as Cabin Boy James, where he seems like an affable, educated, erudite, charming, open hearted young man, and then there's the big reveal that he's Captain James Hook.”
Source: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=38424
Pirate Fairy's director, Peggy Holmes, says Hendricks has all the qualities necessary for the role of Zarina. "Look, we're creating a pirate fairy," Holmes tells Zap2it. "It's never been done before. And she needed to be tough, but vulnerable. ... The first time [Hendricks] spoke, at the first record, we were like, 'Oh, there's our pirate fairy.'"
Source: http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2013/08/c ... fairy.html
This weekend at D23, Tom Hiddleston was revealed to be the latest in a long line of greats to portray the famous villain Captain James Hook, in The Pirate Fairy. [...] His character James, for example, starts off the new Tinker Bell movie as a young boy. “James is the cabin boy. And he’s kind and attentive and sweet and polite and educated and charming and they are best friends — until he reveals his true nature, which is that he becomes the captain of this rogue band: Captain James Hook.” The motivation for James’ transformation is yet to be revealed, but Hiddleston said that James is a young man who knows what he wants, and once he gets it, he doesn't feel the need to be friendly with anybody anymore. The power, it seems, goes to his head. [...] Hiddleston sure had a lot of fun in his role as Hook, exploring his own voice talents and paying homage to the original Disney animated Hook: Hans Conried. “There’s a real sort of theatricality and there’s an age in his voice — he’s like: ‘Where’s Peter Pan?’” he boomed, imitating the iconic voice. “So it’s almost these old English vowel sounds, and there’s a real gravel and a crack in his voice, which I tried to get once I was Hook.”
Source: http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/12/t ... interview/
"This is definitely my first pirate part," says Hendricks, "but hopefully not my last one. Zarina is definitely a spunky little thing. She's a fairy who dives into full-on pirate." The animated version of Hendricks has the trademark red hair. But she's definitely not the voluptuous character we've come to expect from Mad Men's Joan. "We gave her more of an athletic body," says director Peggy Holmes. "Zarina needs to be able to hang with the pirates, swing on ropes and get around a ship." What makes Hendricks perfect for voicing the part is her feisty attitude. "Christina has this vulnerable, fragile side," says Holmes. "But you don't want to fool with her when she gets her feathers ruffled. That's the kind of girl that needs to be around pirates. She can hold her own."

"We all know Peter Pan and Tinker Bell and Captain Hook," says Hendricks. "This goes back and shows the introduction of how that all started and how these worlds collided." Hiddleston, best known for his double-crossing Loki from Thor and The Avengers, makes the seamless transition into high-seas treachery. "He has a lot of charm and charisma," says Holmes. " For me, all the best double-crossers have that."

Voicing her first fully animated film, Hendricks did everything to be sporty, including taking off her shoes to do the very physical voice work. "I was able to bring out my playful side and to act like a pirate in a very small room in a very silly way," says Hendricks. It's all part of the honor of taking on a Disney animated character. "Since I was born there was Disney. And it's something you grow up with that's magical. There's a history to it," says Hendricks, 38. "When you become a fairy you become part of that history. I cannot imagine it being cooler."

Press Release wrote:Disneytoon Studios’ “The Pirate Fairy” brought pixie dust to the festivities, unveiling the newest and most exciting adventure in the Disney Fairies franchise. Director Peggy Holmes (“Secret of the Wings”) introduced Christina Hendricks, who gives voice to Zarina, and Tom Hiddleston, tapped to voice a young James aka Captain Hook. When a misunderstood dust-keeper fairy named Zarina steals Pixie Hollow’s all-important Blue Pixie Dust, and flies away to join forces with the pirates of Skull Rock, Tinker Bell and her fairy friends must embark on the adventure of a lifetime to return it to its rightful place. However, in the midst of their pursuit of Zarina, Tink’s world is turned upside down. She and her friends find that their respective talents have been switched and they have to race against time to retrieve the Blue Pixie Dust and return home to save Pixie Hollow. With comedy, heart and epic thrills for the whole family, “The Pirate Fairy” sets sail Spring 2014.

She has already completed voiceover work on Disney’s big new animated feature, The Pirate Fairy – a prequel to Peter Pan, in which she plays a misunderstood fairy who steals the pixie dust from Pixie Hollow. “It’s been so much fun to see characters like Tinker Bell and Captain Hook and find out what they were like before Peter Pan comes along,” she reveals. “This has been like a dream job for me. I feel like part of the Disney family now, and I would love to be able to do more voice work because you can get so caught up in the fantasy land you’ve entered into. As an actor you can just let your imagination fly.”

More information about Legend of the Never Beast.
Disneytoon Studios also announced another Tinker Bell film, the Legend of the Never Beast. In that one, due in spring 2015, director Steve Loter said Fawn, the nature fairy from Tinker Bell’s world, rallies her friends to not fear the white-furred, sharp-toothed creature that comes to inhabit their land. It turns out Ruff, the eponymous creature, looks fearsome but has a big, sweet center.

Director Steven Loter was on hand to briefly discuss his new Fairies film project Legend of the NeverBeast. The artwork shown from the film showed the Disney Fairies flying with a beast that looked to my eyes like an animated version of Falkor the Luckdragon from The NeverEnding Story.

Loter was on hand to share a personal anecdote behind the inspiration for this film. While he grew up harboring a fear of large dogs, his daughter embraces her natural instincts to see all animals as her friends; the bigger and shaggier, the better. Fawn’s unusual friendship with the massive creature known as the NeverBeast came out of Loter’s firsthand experiences watching his daughter interact with animals.

The seventh film in the direct-to-video Tinker Bell franchise, Legend of the NeverBeast is out in spring 2015 and directed by Steve Loter. It’s about Fawn seeing a potential friend in a monster called the NeverBeast, and inspired by Loter’s six-year-old daughter’s love of large dogs.

Press Release wrote:Disneytoon Studios director Steve Loter revealed plans for “Legend of the NeverBeast,” which takes the Disney Fairies on an epic action adventure that’s full of heart and edge-of-your-seat suspense. Fun and talented animal fairy Fawn believes you can’t judge a book by its cover—or an animal by its fangs—so she befriends a huge and mysterious creature known as the NeverBeast. While Tink and her friends aren’t so sure about this scary addition to Pixie Hollow, the elite Scout Fairies set out to capture the monster before he destroys their home. Fawn must trust her heart and take a leap of faith if she hopes to rally the girls to save the NeverBeast. Directed by Steve Loter, “Legend of the NeverBeast” roars to life in Spring 2015.
