Isn't a short film prior to a Pixar movie an obligation? Couldn't resist that one!

I'm sorry for being repetive, but the more spots I see and such, the less I can't forgive the character designs of this movie. They're not only cartoony, but also bland and uninspired! It looks completely distracting!

Re: The Good Dinosaur--11/25/15
A new trailer is out.
I'm just not feeling this movie. Everything about it just feels so familiar. And not in a good way. It's like I've already seen this movie many times before. The unlikely-duo-go-on-a-road-trip aspect, the boy-like-dog trope, the man-against-nature angle, the coming-of-age narrative, the same overused themes of family and friendship, the shoehorned sentimentality. And the execution of these motifs and tropes seems very paint-by-number and Hollywood-esque. From the trailer it looks like the film tries too hard to appear epic and heartfelt to cover up how formulaic and conventional it really is.

Even I'm loving this film so far, I do agree and that was my first though. It's Finding Nemo meets Toy Story with dinosaurs, completed with the # as the dog cliche. I have a feeling the old version was more original.

I guess I'm in the vast minority, but this is ending up being my most anticipated Pixar film ever. I know it's going to go head-to-head with TS3 as far as being my favorite. I'm feeling so many emotions from just these footage we've seen.

The movie is said to have no antagonists and I like the facts that the T-Rexes in this film will be allies. In any other movie they would have been the cliched main villains.

Agree the trailer alone makes me cry. It feels like Pixar continues their return to form, with a story filled with concepts and sequences that will appeal greatly to both kids and adults. The very thing that made me love movies in the first place. Its also special because these are my two childhood favourites (dinosaurs and Pixar) together. I'm starting to feel like a little kid againblackcauldron85 wrote:I guess I'm in the vast minority, but this is ending up being my most anticipated Pixar film ever. I didn't know about this. Hmm. Could be interesting. I try not to get my hopes up with Pixar, because I did that with WALL E's and Up's concepts, and I ended up not liking the final product in either case. I think there's something here that I could like, I'm just not sure it'll end up making its way onscreen. Don't get me wrong--I know it's going to be successful financially, that's just the way of things.jazzflower92 wrote:The movie is said to have no antagonists and I like the facts that the T-Rexes in this film will be allies. Moreover, I'm still stuck on the designs. I suppose they could work for me, but the ultra-realistic backgrounds alongside them sticks out to me. Sort of how I've heard people complain before about how the stepsisters and Cinderella/Tremaine look like they're from two different movies in Disney's Cinderella or that the fairies don't quite gel with the backgrounds in Sleeping Beauty, that's how I feel about the designs/backgrounds right now.
Edit: Wrong they're/there/their.

Im mixed on this film too. I think I'll like the story but I still think those are the worst dinosaur designs Ive ever seen in an animated film. Even the designs in Dinosaur Train are better than these.

To those criticizing the cartoonish style of the characters against the realistic backgrounds, Is this the 1st time you notice that in a Pixar movie? ... This isn't Jurassic world people ... It's animation not live action ... Exaggeration is one of the 12 principles of animation ... It won't be animation if they made everything look realunprincess wrote:Im mixed on this film too. Fair enough, but the cartoony designs on a premise like this is bluntly jarring and distracting! Of course this isn't the first time Pixar have made cartoony designs (which really has never been Pixar's strenght in the first place), but a premise like this calls for a more naturalistic design, not completely cartoony.

According to a couple sites, Alan Tudyk (big surprise if true) is in this. It is also on Disney Wiki and IMDB. Any confirmation?

Uhhhh.... I think you missed a crucial piece of the puzzle here. There's nothing wrong with exaggeration. But having the characters be exaggerated and the backgrounds ultra-realistic is off-putting for me.Patricier21 wrote:To those criticizing the cartoonish style of the characters against the realistic backgrounds, Is this the 1st time you notice that in a Pixar movie? ... As long as they're not CHEATING with live-action backgrounds, it's fine with me.Disney's Divinity wrote:Uhhhh.... I think you missed a crucial piece of the puzzle here. You've got to be kidding me, Pixar! A dinosaur with a basket feeding a chicken??
Sorry for my condescension, but this film looks more jarring for every trailer I see!

I thought that that was funny... I think this movie = different strokes for different folks based on everyone's opinions so far! I guess Brave is a movie that some people love and some people think it's Pixar's weakest non-Cars film..and TGD may be just like that in that sense...DisneyFan09 wrote:You've got to be kidding me, Pixar! I think its just an evolution joke. Afterall, chickens did descend from dinosaurs, so it's a funny sight gag to see a dino treat a chicken like a pet.DisneyFan09 wrote: A dinosaur with a basket feeding a chicken??
