Given that animals can't form picket lines...I'm sure Disney will still allow them in their movies. It's the humans that are troublesome.

Disney is doing a wonderful and amazing return to 2D broadway style, and should be celebrated not disected apart...
Does anyone remember that south park episode where everyone was offended around christmas time, and the play that the ended up doing??
LOS ANGELES - In a surprise move that has plenty of insiders scratching their heads, the Walt Disney Company announced that they will no longer make movies featuring people.
Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, issued a press release today stating that the growing concerns and attacks towards their upcoming 2-d animated film The Princess and the Frog has prompted them to rethink all future movies involving people of every color.
"We did not expect this much criticism and outrage," Iger starts. "I mean, the movie hasn't even come out yet, and people are already writing it off as racist trash based on a couple minutes of footage."
Indeed, much of the criticism has been found online, with internet forums and websites inundated with repetitive arguments for and against the film. Not since the famous Jim Shu v. The Walt Disney Company lawsuit concerning 1998's Mulan has there been so much controversy over an animated rendition of a culture.
"It's not nice," Iger states. "We just wanted to make a nice fairy tale movie with a twist, but it's just snowballed into this great big bandwagon of racism, and we never really wanted to offend anyone. So we've decided to cancel all our films currently in development. They will be reworked to focus not on our fellow man, but on a fictional creature of similar intellect that we hope can mirror the strengths and struggles of mankind, without ever offending them."
The creature Iger mentioned will be a new "species" created especially for Disney films called "hunam beings." Regarding the Mouse House's projects already well into development, most are being reworked to turn humans into hunams, although a few films are too far into development for the change.
Moviegoers can relax knowing that films such as TR2N, Prince of Persia, and Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will be the last live-action to feature humans as we know it, and can look forward to I'm Only Hunam!, a new comedy starring veteran Disney actor Zac Efron. I'm Only Hunam! will be the first in the Disney Company's ongoing "hunam being" franchise, and features a teenager named Caz Norfe trying to fit in at his new high school.
Similarly, the company's animated studio is rushing to re-animate all the scenes in The Princess and the Frog and Rapunzel to feature hunam characters. Tiana is now being touted as the first Hunam Disney Princess, while Rapunzel will be the first CGI Hunam Disney Princess.

That sounds like an Onion article to me. Screw the "Associated Press" logo.
I'm sure the suits are just in a phase. Once the the film is done and released, people will stop having a cow and Disney can relax and not worry so much about what kind of "people" will be in their next WDFA film.
I agree, once the film is released, we may hear about the race stuff for a bit but it will die down. The numbers will prove just how "bad" this film is for African Americans....Majority of the crowd will be families....rest of the crowd will be Disney fans, especially those who have been waiting for years for Disney to return to 2-D and fairy tales. And there will be a group who will go just because they want to see if it actually is worth the controversy or not.
funny article and i think they are right. Nearly every group, country, race or whatever could be offended about millions of movies and it getting really ridiculous sometimes. I could be offended about every stereotype from my country in many movies, but it's only funny to see especially when they are pretty bad.

I am lumped into all 3 categories
I agree as well. Its like the Beverly Hill Chihuahua debacle. Fans were arguing their heads off, declaring it the worse Disney film ever before release and it created a controversy about how the film might drive parents to blindly adopt chihuahuas.
But the film came out, we learned that it isn't half bad and had a very nice and strong message of adoption and care and the arguments ended.
Same thing will happen with Princess and the Frog. People will go see the movie, enjoy it and the controversy surrounding its release will be forgotten, just in time for the next hot topic to arise.
Every time I look at this topic and see all those articles posted about how PatF could spawn loads of controversy I have to think of Avenue Q's "Everyone's a little bit racist". Just so fitting.
This whole PC craziness has totally gotten out of hand. When did people stop thinking and not overanalyzing everything?
It's just kinda sad that people have to start bashing a movie that hasn't even been released yet, which says a lot about how intolerant our society actually is. Because sometimes tolerance means to wait and to get to know something better.
I personally believe the reason people are being so sensitive is because they are feeling guilty of the actions made many years ago. The ones that have made the most noise have been white people with the occasional black person commenting on the madness.
They feel bad for the race issues of the past and are now trying to avoid any conflict which might start the race war all over again, even if it means criticizing an animated film.
I really hope more news of the film arise, I want to talk about how great the film will be, not more drawn out race discussions.
Siren wrote:Me too! Once the film is out there will be nearly unlimited discussions of the story, songs, characters, animation etc.
And suddenly, people will start being hypocrites, and pretend they knew the film would be good.
Hope you are not talking about me. I've always been looking forward to the film despite the criticisms (though I should try to keep the hype down, but its hard when the trailer is so magical!).

This comment is from a food blog, but it can apply to the controversy surrounding TP&tF. Not to bring up the topic again, but I couldn't resist:
Jeez, people will get their panties in a bunch over ANYTHING these days. It’s almost like there’s an entire separate race of Americans that are just looking for something to blow the whistle on.
(Commented by Adam Bomb on www.grubgrade.com. The article this is taken from in case you were wondering, is about a donut shop called Psycho Donuts and people were protesting saying that it's insensitive. It has nothing to do with TP&tF, but if you're interested, here's the link: http://www.grubgrade.com/2009/05/17/psy ... /#comments )

With that said, I think that the complainer race is racist against me for not complaining. When will I be free!?!

Can't we just talk about the movie, comparison to other films, and merchandies that will be with the film. I'm sick of the race talk.
Walt Disney always belived in quality, bring the quality back.

I know, my bad for bringing it up, but I just had to share the quote. I thought that it was clever!
Does anyone know if the current trailer is the only trailer there will be (besides the teaser trailer), or will there be other trailers closer to the movie's release? Do you think there will be the trailers that each introduce a character (or two or more related characters, like how Rutt & Tuke were introduced together)?
I would assume that closer to the films release there will be a flashy kid friendly trailer made for the film. The current one aims at those of us who remember/lived through the early 90's. I bet there will be a trailer that shows more comedic relief and is a bit shorter sometime this summer.
I hope there will still be either this one playing or another non-kiddie trailer around when the movie comes out, so there won't only be kid-oriented marketing around the movie's release.
