Sorry to come off as whiny, but I liked Human Again!!!monorail91 wrote: No Human Again, also a plus.

Anyways, looks like the movie's made a little over $18 million easy. http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=bea ... east3d.htm

Since this reissue is the theatrical edition, it includes the proper "Something There" ending instead of the snipped Special Edition version on the Diamond Edition Blu-ray. Did they fix that on the 3D Blu-ray, or does it still have the error?
Something occurred to me as I sat in the theater: why does Gaston bring a bow to kill the Beast when he carries a musket in the opening?
Really like the drawings in the credits.

Yes, the "Something There" ending is the original version on the 3D Blu-ray.
The only thing I noticed that was different between the two was that the Disney logo at the beginning says "Walt Disney Pictures" on the 3D Blu-ray and was changed to just "Disney" for theaters.
You can turn the 3D off on the movie and just watch it in regular 2D, which makes me happy. I don't like how the "suggested special feature" thing pops up immediately during the credits on the regular blu-ray. Makes me feel like I'm watching the movie on television. Plus I LOVE LOVE LOVE the animation sketches added to the 3D version. I'd take screen captures, but I don't know how to do that with my blu-rays.

Source: http://www.deadline.com/2012/01/disney- ... in-stores/Exhibitors are quietly furious that Disney has begun selling the Beauty and the Beast 3D Blu-Ray DVD at Target and Walmart and other retailers without fanfare at the same time the film goes into theaters today. In fact, it was initially released on 3D Blu-ray in October 2011. As one rival studio exec tells me, “They think what Disney did is very underhanded by sneaking it into stores.” By contrast, last year’s Disney’s The Lion King 3D Blu-ray didn't go on sale until two weeks after the theatrical release. ”Is Beauty and the Beast 3D Blu-Ray going to be the experiment that closes the windows for sure?” one rival studio exec asks me. “If so the exhibitors have truly lost a major battle.”
Disney in its defense points out that the vast majority of families don’t have 3D televisions yet so the 3D Blu-ray won’t affect theatrical gross. “We've talked to all of our partners in exhibition about this and have made no secret about the Beauty and the Beast 3D Blu-Ray being available. In fact there are multiple exhibition partners that are tying promotions into the 3D Blu-ray being available, like AMC and Regal.”
The reason for this situation is that Disney wasn't planning on releasing the 3D version theatrically. Of course after The Lion King 3D did so well on the box office they changed their minds but by that time the 3D Blu-ray was already released.
and they're furious NOW??? a little slow on the uptake, aren't they?Sotiris wrote:Source: http://www.deadline.com/2012/01/disney- ... in-stores/Exhibitors are quietly furious that Disney has begun selling the Beauty and the Beast 3D Blu-Ray DVD at Target and Walmart and other retailers without fanfare at the same time the film goes into theaters today. I think that's what Disney doesn't get; fans are just happy to see these movies back in the cinema more than anything, 3D or no 3D.DisneyJedi wrote:I've finally managed to watch the movie in theaters and I am glad. Glad glad glad glad GLAD!!!![]()
The 3D's probably nothing to write home about, but it was great to see an old classic on the silver screen again for the first time in eleven years.
I think that if they didn't bother with a 3D conversion (which I gather is very expensive), and pumped maybe just half that money into a decent advertising campaign, it would still be a success. Just because people are nuts to see Disney Classics on the big screen again.
Case in point; I saw most of the movies at the cinema this past year at the BFI Southbank in London, as part of the 'Disney 50'. The tickets for even the most obscure Disneys were sold out, and the response from the audience was immense with each showing.
I think Disney are missing out on a treat here.

An Anchorage man got more than he expected Friday afternoon when he allegedly swiped Emily Behny's wallet.

Hahaha love the one where they're posing! That's such a great show, I saw a touring production of it in Fresno, CA. I was really impressed with how elaborate the staging was, especially for a touring production.

Finally got to see it (didn't end up going when I originally said I would in attempt to avoid the disaster of an experience I had with the lion King)
Good stuff all around. I'll answer my own question since no one else bothered: the colors Do seem better than the platinum edition to me. I'm not sure how much of it was the glasses talking however. All I know is that bell didn't look like a redhead at any point, and the yellows weren't overweeningly vibrant like its been in the past. It looked like I feel like it should, with rich dark browns, no washed out colors etc. The 3D seemed done better here than the lion king to me, though it wasn't without weirdness in some shots do to the original animation not really following 3 dimensional rules to a tee. Sometimes characters would appear to be levitating off the ground. I didn't have any issues with characters faces though, it wasn't distracting like in the Lion King. possibly because human faces don't have noses that stick out as much.
The artwork at the end made me stay during the entire credit roll, a rarity for me.
