cant disagree.
ajmrowland wrote:2. Being optimistic, but the slutty ship hasn't sailed quite yet. There may be hope for her.
I wouldn't call her 'slutty'. Ever. No matter what she wears or how she behaves. In my opinion, 'slut' is a mysoginistic word that's being used by hypocritical males (mostly), as a means to keep women in line; to decide how a woman should or shouldn't dress or behave. If they don't obey, they'll be labeled 'sluts'. There's no male equivalent to the insult. A man can do whatever he pleases and never be called a similar thing.
I wasnt saying she was either. I guess I got the comments from that page going through my head. Besides, "Slut" is as often used by girls to other girls as it is by guys. Not disagreeing, just saying.
So that's why I won't call her that. I was not attacking you, by the way, ajmrowland. Just some general thought I felt I should share before I continued the discussion.
oh, no harm done. I dont use the term that often, either.
I'm wondering how much of this 'new image' was really Miley's own decision. I think it's dangerous that some people on this board are applauding Miley for it, since we don't know whether it's something she wants, or if it's decided for her, by her father. She's only 17 years old and thus underage. And we've seen in the past what her father will do for money. He even exploited Miley's little sister. Go back a page or two and you'll find the horrible pictures of a 9 year old dressed up like a... Well, let's say with that outfit and those photo's made public, you wonder why they just didn't move next door to a registred sex offender and opened the windows at night...
I'd nearly forgotten about that. Still, I cant say it was direct parental decision or bad influence from her dad, but I do think she should balance things out, and she seems to be trying to with her new movie and all that. Only time will tell, unless we get a fortune teller on here.
blackcauldron85 wrote:It's not like she was stripping or anything. I mean, she showed a little more skin, but Britney and Christina were at this age, too.
Like I said, I'm not a prude and I will never say to a woman how to dress or behave, but I just think it sends the wrong messages to teenage girls about 'how to be taken seriously'.
I find parents are often as much at fault as the stars are. Aren't they the ones supposed to be telling their kids WHY they shouldn't dress like that?
blackcauldron85 wrote:1. Miley can sing. Very, very well.
Everybody has different tastes, but I think we can establish what's good singing and what's not. Miley sounds good because they've run her voice through the computer a zillion times to make it sound better; at least that's how I judge it. I would put her on the same level as your average American Idol-finalist. (I wouldn't want to be caught ever watching that program, but it's on when my sister's home, unfortunately.) Oh, and just so you know, that was not a compliment.
Miley can sing, when we can hear her voice over the "echos", but she cant act. no. The computer would have to be really good to make her voice still sound like hers.
blackcauldron85 wrote:2. I hope that Miley doesn't go the alcohol/drug/sleezy route that Britney and Lindsay did (and I'm a fan of them). I hope that her parents have raised her well enough, and that she has enough self-respect, to stay away from things like that. I'd hate to see her go the bad-girl route. But dressing up a little doesn't mean that she's whored herself out.
Do you remember her pole-dancing during a show aimed at teenagers? Including the half-dressed dancers in the background? Hvae you seen how she behaves in the 'Party in the USA' clip? (Again, I curse my sister!) Do you think that shows self-respect? Have you seen how her father dressed up his 9 year old daughter? Do you think that's good parenting?
I havent seen the clip, but I know the pole dancing was an ice cream truck, and it wasnt meant to be a sexy one. As for the PITUSA clip, I will never even watch that a first time because that song is obnoxious shit.

The whole cast of Hannah Montana just finished filming. I remember back when Disney Channel was really good I used to watched That's So Raven, Cory in the House, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Phil of the Future, Kim Possible, The Proud Family and Even Stevens. Now that Hannah Montana is done filming the only good show are The Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck, and Phineas and Ferb. Good Luck Charlie looks like a good show but I haven't seen it yet.

It's harmless but predictable. The concept will wear itself out very quickly (siblings recording video diaries for the baby to watch when she's older) and I have a feeling it'll be phased out in favor of making the show just a straightforward family comedy.

http://www.tmz.com/2010/05/11/miley-cyr ... -can-dance
Miley -- who was 16 at the time -- was dancing with 44-year-old Adam Shankman during a wrap party last summer in Georgia for the movie, "The Last Song." Shankman, who is openly gay, produced the movie as well as "Hairspray" and other flicks and is a judge on "So You Think You Can Dance?"

The people who shot the video say they were offended by the dirty dancing -- which included a graphic lap dance.

The people who shot the video obviously forgot their kids were not likely to see it.

There were children at the party, the parents ended up leaving out of disgust from what I heard.

For those who want to see it and haven't heard, she will be performing on Dancing With The Stars tonight.

I do think the dirty dancing can't be all placed on Miley, Adam Shankman could/should have taken a bit more initiative and realized it was innappropriate to do that (especially around children). In the end I think Miley just suffers from something quite common, "Stupid Teenageritis". At the end of the day she's a teenager, and what teen hasn't done things like this before? The only major difference is the fact that A) She's a celebrity and therefore has the public eye on her, and B) Her fanbase is most likely a younger group.

Of course if her parents would do their job she might not be making as many errors in judgement. While I can understand that she wants to be free and do what she wants, she still needs to realize doing things like this can greatly hurt her image.

^Y'know, at that age, most people just stop listening to their parents.

Edit: in reply about the party for Last Song.

Today at 6pm (CST) Radio Disney will be hosting the Planet Premiere of the song I’m Still Good featuring Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana Forever.
"Featuring" Miley Cyrus? Don't they mean "by" Miley Cyrus?

I think they mean 'by'.

Anyway, anyone watched the first five episodes of HMF?

They are like the third season in acting, but the quality is so much better!

I am wondering however, if this season will have 15 episodes. (That would lead to the series finale being the 100th episode)

Also, I don't think they will stretch this season untill spring 2011, episode 6 is on august 22, and seven is in september...

I haven't seen any of this show. Never been interested really. Do you think, as someone who has become a huge Disney fan in the last six months, I should give it a go, you know, for curoisity?
