Look for Jon Bon Jovi as the mentor for the Top Six this week. This is going to be an interesting week for all the contestants because the votes from last week will be tallied in with this week and TWO are going to be sent packing.
The Final Four Show will then move to the Kodak Theater for the last three weeks of the show, and we will soon know who our new American Idol for 2007 will be. I still hold that the final two will be Jordin Sparks and Melinda Doolittle.
I think the two going home this week will be either Chris and Phil, or Chris and LaKisha. And it may be the latter rather than the former since they have never sent two males off the show in the history of Idol. Things have been really different this year, so it could happen.
My dream Final Four has always been ( and you can go back and check it) Blake, Jordin, LaKisha and Melinda.

I really think it's a combination of poor song choice several weeks in a row and a loss of that 'diva storms the stage' presence that she had early on. Vocally, she's still a powerhouse. I'm just hoping that LaKisha steps her game back up before voters forget that.Prudence wrote:Is it just me, or does LaKisha lose her original appeal a little more every week?

Wow!! Tonight's show rocked, and all six brought their 'A' games to the show. Jon Bon Jovi was a great mento, and I think he was impressed with all the talent.
Phil Stacey blew the hall wide open with his version of "Blaze of Glory", and may have saved himself from elmination, then again maybe not.
Chris Richardson tried to do "Wanted Dead or Alive", but failed miserably. After last year when Chris Daughtry just killed the song, Chris Richardson's version was very pale in comparison.
Blake Lewis went out on a limb and took a chance with "You Give Love A Bad Name", and he wowed everyone with his performance. Simon was right on when he said, "half the audience is going to love it, and the other half are going to hate it!" Blake showed why he deserves to be in the Final Four tonight.
Jordin, LaKisha and Melinda were spot on with their song choices and delivery.
If I had to pick the two to go home this week, unfortunately I would say that it should be Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey. I hope that LaKisha is not in the bottom three, that would be very scary. They have never sent two guys home on the show, they have sent two girls home, so I think it is time to set a precedent and send two guys packing. Let our final four be Blake, Jordin, LaKisha and Melinda.

Ugh... I really can't stand this show. I'm quite proud to say I've never watched any kind of "reality" TV, or any of its spawn like American Idol (or Canadian Idol, in my case). I just don't understand the appeal... if I wanted to watch repellant idiots and talentless hacks make fools of themselves singing I'd just watch the majority of videos on MuchMusic or MTV. Unfortunately, not watching it can't stem my embarrassment that we're beaming this crap into space for all the Universe to snicker about behind our backs at when we finally get out there sometime in the next millenia or two.
There are only 6 or 7 good (currently in-production) TV shows at the moment... which is pretty pathetic considering how many hours of TV are produced for every season.
Given the current lack of quality or taste in television, it's entirely possible to just cancel cable entirely and buy the few good shows on DVD as they come out... and end up paying less per year than cable would've actually cost you... particularly if you subscribe to the god-forsaken (note: does not endorse existence or belief in god), ludicrously over-priced HD or TiVo-esque services.

BLAKE...IS...AMAZING!!
Was not the coolest, most unique performance you've ever seen in your life?!?! Gah, I cannot wait until he release an album!
LaKisha is back! Yay! She did a fantastic job; I got chills at the end of her performance.
Melinda is just awesome. Her voice is out of this world.
I can't stand Phil. I'm sorry, I just don't like him.
Justin Timber-, er, Chris Richardson didn't do very well tonight, in my opinion. I agree with dvdjunkie. After Chris Daughtry's version of that song, nothing could beat it...not even the original.

Wow. You'd think someone who hated this show so much wouldn't give its thread the time of day.TM2-Megatron wrote:Ugh... I really can't stand this show. American Idol is one of the few reality shows that has some credibility. You should give it a chance, or at least, not call it 'repellant' on a thread full of its supporters.
If you don't think there is any quality in television, you are missing out, friend.
If people waited to get their shows on DVD, the shows wouldn't last. They need viewers. If studios were to just put them on DVD, that would waay more expensive.
And what's up with 'beaming it into space'? What?
And 'God' is capitalized.

lol, sometimes I'm in the mood to talk about how much I hate certain things... and shows like this are far too easy to hate. Besides, discussion critiquing a show is still discussion about the show; so it fits here. I'm hardly the first person here to post in a topic about a movie/TV show about how they don't like it.numba1lostboy wrote:Wow. I've heard enough about it from family members... the fact I even listened to them talk instead of leaving the room was "giving it a chance", for me.numba1lostboy wrote:American Idol is one of the few reality shows that has some credibility. As for criticizing it in a thread full of its supporters... again, I'm not the first to do this. I've seen dvdjunkie, the originator of this particular thread, do this many a time, with far more harshfully bashing comment than I've posted here. In any case, as I said before, discussion about the show includes opinions both positive and negative.
If I thought there was no quality at all, I would've said there were no currently no good shows as opposed to the 5 or 6 that I actually said.numba1lostboy wrote:If you don't think there is any quality in television, you are missing out, friend.
Obviously, yes. However, that doesn't stop a few people from profiting off the suckers still paying for cable and buying their shows exclusively on DVD. As for myself, I still do subscribe to cable... however if the quality of television degrades much further I may just cancel it. Even now, 85%-90% of all my TV watching is exclusively from DVDs. I wouldn't be losing much by getting rid of cable and waiting for DVDs.numba1lostboy wrote:If people waited to get their shows on DVD, the shows wouldn't last. They need viewers. A great deal of our television signals are powerful enough to break through the atmosphere and get themselves out into space, to go wherever they may go at the speed of light. So some thousands of years in the future, assuming there are other inhabited planets out there, some civilization might be receiving our garbage-infested TV programs. I believe the first television transmission powerful enough to get into space was the 1936 Berlin Olympics... at least according to Carl Sagan's novel, Contact. All in all, it's a pretty embarrassing thought, considering some of the stuff we've sent out there. It'll come back to bite us one day, I'm sure.numba1lostboy wrote:And what's up with 'beaming it into space'? What?
Perhaps; if you believe in it/him/her... which I don't, personally. As such, I don't usually capitalize it. If god wants to prove me wrong, my door's always open. Until then, I find the idea that life arose through random chance considerably more comforting. If it's random as opposed to intentional, it makes it all the more unique and special. To say some omnipotent know-it-all pointed his proverbial finger at some dirt and up life popped is a cop-out, IMO.numba1lostboy wrote:And 'God' is capitalized.

I'm not a big Bon Jovi fan, but rock is my favorite genre, so I really enjoyed rock night. And Jon Bon Jovi was a really good mentor.
Phil gave an awesome performance. I actually thought it was his best yet. And Paula was right. This was probably the best opening to a show all season.
I completely disagreed with Simon on Jordin. I thought she sounded great. It was nice to hear her low range. Maybe I've just heard so many sopranos trying to be altos in choir that I'm immune to it by now, but I thought she handled the low notes pretty darn well.
LaKisha has been boring me for the past few weeks, but I felt like she was starting to come back tonight. I thought she did really well. I do have to say that I wouldn't be crushed if she went home tomorrow, but that belter I loved at the begining seems like she might be on her way back to the top 3 where she originally belonged.
Chris was deffinatley the worst of the night. He did pretty good, but his poppy (semi-nasal) voice didn't really fit the song. And what was up with the lighting? It made him look very creepy and sick.
BLAKE IS BACK!!!!!!! I was less than impressed with his last two performances and he was one of my favorites. This is that Blake that I love. He has proven that he belongs in the top 4 with this performance.
Melinda... WOW! I'm deffinatley buying this song when it's available tomorrow. She did a great job with her Tina Turner brand rock. I love her... so much. lol. If she doesn't win, something is wrong with the competition. And she is getting very pretty.

Tonight overall was a good night.
Simon was right on Blake. Half will like it, half will hate it... I'm leaning towards the hate part. While he is unique the "beat boxing" doesn't do much for me. I personally thought it ruined the song, although I will admit he took the greatest risk tonight doing that.
Chris was pretty rough on his song as well. Daughtry nailed it last year, and this was just weak compared to it.
LaKisha may have saved herself after last week. Glad to see her "back". Jordin, and Melinda also did good tonight. Both were out of their element, and handled their songs well. I'm still hoping for a Melinda/Jordin finale. I hope that happens, but no matter what I think both of them will end up with a great album.
I'm starting to become a Phil fan. He did great tonight. Not the best of the night, but his last few performances have really improved. I hope he gets to stay another week.
I really think Chris will be going home. I think he will be in the bottom two, and either Phil or LaKisha will join him there, but be safe.

Saw American Idol last night and thought it was awesome.
It's really sad that 2 Idols have to go home tonight but the show must go on...hopefully it will be Chris and Lakisha. Idol will probably make 2 groups with one group saying while the other group 2 leave and one stays. It will be scary if Jordan, Blake or Melinda go....

The two best: Phil and Blake.
The two worst: Chris and Jordin.
Phil really surprised me tonight. Even though he still irks me for some reason, he was probably the best for me last night as far as voice is concerned.
I just hope Jordin doesn't end up going home. Hopefully, the votes that are being combined from last week'll save her. She seems really nice and is probably the only girl left that I could actually see myself buying a CD of (maybe Lakisha, depending on the songs she chooses to sing).
If I had a pick for who I'd want to win for this competition, it'd probably be Blake. Just because I know I'd buy a CD of him. But Melinda'll probably end up winning. Ugh.

I started to like Phil, but it was about his time to go. Chris was the worst this week, and last week really. They got it right this week with the eliminations.Anthony wrote:FINALLY Phil is sent home! It's about time. Kinda glad about Chris too.
Next week, I'd love to see Blake go home. That way we can finally have that Final 3 Diva Showdown that I've been waiting for!
I would like to see a "diva showdown" as well, but I doubt it will happen. Blake has a pretty big fan base.
I think LaKisha will go home next week, followed by Blake the week after. We will end up with a Jordin and Melinda finale with Jordin winning to become the next American Idol. At least thats what I think... who knows I'm probably wrong.

My crystal ball had it all right with tonight's Results Show. We lost Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson.........now it is on with the Final Four Big Showdown.
I am looking for LaKisha to get the next boot, and then Blake, and then it will be Melinda and Jordin in the Finals.
This will be tough to call, I like Jordin and Melinda, but on different levels. It will be interesting to see how well they both handle the pressure. I would like to see Jordin win, but I honestly think that it is Melinda's title to lose.

Good show tonight. America got it right!
I think LaKisha or Jordin should be the next to go. I like them both, but I'd really like to see Blake and Melinda in the final two, with Blake as the winner.

I agree that the eliminations were perfect. I'm rooting for Lakisha to get voted off next week. I really want to see Melinda win and Jordin deserves second place. I mainly want Blake in the top 3 to ensure that he gets a record deal (I'm sure at least the top 4 will go on to do somehting).

I didn't get a chance to watch on Wednesday, but I watched the end last night (when Chris got booted). I'm glad that Phil & Chris left. I used to like Phil, but he's very inconsistent. And I haven't liked Chris since he gave those puppy-eyes to the camera a few weeks ago. I hope that Blake gets kicked off next. The ladies are amazing...I like them all!
