What's a Single-Width Black Keepcase?

Its like the norm for DVD cases but with that flip tray holding the frist disc.

Grest Parent Trap review! This release represented a tough choice for me (and many people, I'd suspect), as I already had the Vault Disney set and didn't see the need to own both copies. In the end, I decided I'd rather have the sequel than the audio commentary. I remember liking all the PT sequels from the days when they were still shown on the Disney Channel. I'm pleased to see that the original hasn't suffered at all in video quality or bonus features (aside from the short and the commentary, which I lament but can live with). It's a shame that the sequel couldn't have gotten better treatment, but I don't see a re-release anytime soon. Even though I've had the Vault Disney disc forever, I haven't watched it and it's been a long time since I've seen the movie. Your review helped remind me how good it is; I can't wait to see it again.

It seems appropriate that the PT and Halloweentown reviews come back-to-back, and not only because they both concern Double Feature sets and made-for-Disney-Channel sequels... "Let's Get Together" is played in Halloweentown High, even if it is in subpar, rock 'n roll fashion.

Thanks for the high praise! While Disc 2 of this new 2-Movie Collection can supplant Disc 2 of the Vault Disney set, it does bug me that the commentary (and to some degree, the relevant short) were not included. That, a better transfer on TPT II, and the making-of featurette would have made this the perfect Parent Trap release, but as it is, it's hard to find a better Disney DVD carrying a $19.99 SRP.

Now I have a question.
Does the Parent Trap movie look as in the captures? It looks as if the movie was shot on a foggy night in London. White shirts measure between 50 and 60% RGB (grey) when they should measure around 85-90% (white) and objects in shadows are almost black.

For some reason, screencaps of The Parent Trap make it look darker than it really is. I think that it's very likely the light background color of the review page makes the pics seem darker or perhaps my eyes just get quickly accustomed to the transfer when watching the movie, since playback doesn't make me feel like "these colors are too dark" the way the screencaps on the review page do. The same was true of the Vault Disney release (and the other three Vault Disney releases as well, I think) and I didn't think those transfers were too dark. There is almost certainly some room for improvement (I pointed out the colors not always looking natural in my review), but it's definitely a nice looking transfer when viewing in full.

The excellent review of Desperate Housewives caused me to buy the first season today. I haven't watched it yet, but I was very impressed with the quality of the packaging and Best Buy's price ($40).
