I think what draws me the most however (like Sleeping Beauty) are the characters of the villain and the hero. While I enjoy the dwarfs and Snow White, Grimhilde and the Prince to me are probably my favorite from the film. My earliest memories about them I think stem from when I was a child and saw the 1993 re-release of the film when I wa six. Seeing Grimhilde on the giant screen, especially when the transformation ofher into the witch, forever impacted me. I think she is the only villain I can ever recall who scared me (that and combined with going on the original version of Snow White's Adventures at Disney World when I was four
As for the Prince, even though we barely know anything about him and that he really doesn't do much in he finished film, I still enjoy his character and his role in the graphic novel version. I personally find he's very handsomely drawn, and I love his voice and the tune "One Song." I think my appreciation for his character too has grown for me after seeing the deleted concepts for his original plot, and seeing him take part in the action in the comic book version of the film, with the love triangle and escaping to find Snow White. So to me he's up high on my list of favorite Disney male heroes/princes.
However, even though I stated I don't care much about Snow White and the dwarfs themselves, I still find them highly enjoyable characters. The characteristics of the dwarfs are wonderful and I still find their antics amusing and funny each time that I watch the film. Their attachment to Snow White I think is what makes them especially endearing as well, particulary at the funeral sequence.
As for Snow White herself, maybe it's just me, but I just don't get all the hate over her voice. I have always particularly enjoyed it, and never once found her voice or personality annoying in the least. I enjoy her optimistic outlook and that certain childlike naivtivity she has about herself. You don't have to be a masochist to enjoy Snow White's voice.
Anyway, I recently just received in the mail an interesting book on the making of Snow White, and I was flipping through and noticed mentioned of a song called The Lady In The Moon. Originally it was meant to be the song in place of where the Silly Song sequence is now. I'm curius if in the upcoming Platinum we'll see that materialize as some form of a demo or not. Although considering the Sleeping Beauty UK book made mention of two deleted songs that didn't make it on the DVD, I'm not holding my breath.
