Nothing we can do, but except it. I googled her, and found a better picture.

She doesn't look like Ariel, but she has to do an amazing job, blow everyone out of the water

I found Sierra on myspace, apparently she signed on as Ariel in early January. All of her friends have been congratulating her since Jan 12th.

Sierra is a alumni from my College (Millikin University) from 2004. Jodi Benson is also an alumni from my school, so i'm very pround of my school right now!!!
I also kinda know her indirectly since everyone a year older than me knows who she is. Millikin is a very small school.
As far as who I personally prefer, I really did not like Kerry Butlers voice from the recordings. I think Sierra will be very good for the role.

I agree with you. But I think part of it might be the low quality music. Perhaps it will be better with a full orchestra to accompany the songs.That1GuyPictures wrote:I already listened to the Broadway workshop demos of the musical.
The lyrics are absolutely horrendous. The new songs are okay of the time, But the lyrics? YIKES.
I hope that it is visually interesting, because it sure wasn't a great experience for the ears.

Crazy! I didn't know how I didn't even hear about this yet. I thought I recognized the actress, though. Sierra Bogess was in a musical called "Princesses" that was broadway-bound a couple of years ago, but since fell apart. It did its out-of-town run here, in Seattle. She was one of my favorite actresses in that show, and she had a really good voice live. I'm happy for her! I got invited to the cast party for that musical, after I went to see it on opening night, and its cool to think that I got to hang out with broadway's future Ariel
I have to admit, I'm growing increasingly nervous about this production. After Tarzan didn't live up to the other disney musicals (at least according to critics), Ariel is going to be under a lot of scrutiny when she reaches the great white way. My main concern is that the mermaids are going to "swim" using heelie-like shoes to glide across the stage. I saw her skate at disney on ice, and it was impressive, but broadway is a far more upmarket entertainment experience. I still would have preferred the spectacle of wires, but disney has the top guys working on this, so we'll have to wait and see...

I agree about Ursula's songs. All the new ones are good, but some parts in each don't fit right. For instance, in Wasting Away, halfway through the demo (when she's saying, "But now my potions and spells, ointments and gells, baubles and shells...mean SQUAT!"') you think she's about to truly show how she's pissed off that Triton banished her, but then she returns to her complaints about how her figure's gone. It just isn't right. And I don't even understand why she starts ranting about wine and parties near the end of All Good Things Must End. Also, does anyone have any idea of what a "pippy" is?
Then again, it may not be the lyrics that bother me, but the performers. Just look at how Poor Unfortunate Souls, Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl and Part of That World were successfully butchered alive (the latter far worse than the former). The only songs from the movie that turned out good was Part of Your World and Les Poissons.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

1. Ursula complained about how her figure went in the film so the song is just a bit more elaboration as to how she thinks her life has gone.Disney's Divinity wrote:I agree about Ursula's songs. 2. Urban Dictionary defines a 'Bippy' as a Butt, A#@, Booty, or Fanny, and that it us a Mid-Western term.

Just got a new bit of info form animated news:
Little Mermaid - Broadway explains the visual magic that will be used to help characters swim in the Mermaid musical. “The ‘roller skating concept’ is indeed what they are doing. Puppets are being used from a Japanese art style,” writes the site’s source. “Disney did a Mermaid show in Tokyo at their theme park and used that style of puppets for their production of Finding Nemo at Disney World in FL. It will be unlike the Lion King puppets and more of its own style”
What do you think ?? ?? I still think itll be AMAZING ! !!

I like most of the new songs, and others need work such as "That World Above." I didn't really like the lyics to it. I really like Ursula's songs, and I think the singer in the demo did a good job. Of all the new songs, I guess my favorite would be "Beyond My Wildest Dreams" and "All Good Things Must End." And as for the old songs, I guess my favorite would be "Daughters of Triton" because it was extended.
As for the roller skating, what happens if the actor/actress falls on stage? That would be kinda bad. And I guess for the future, whoever wants to play a role in "The Little Mermaid" would have to know how to skate really well.

Her complaining about "wasting away to practically nothing" wasn't my problem. My problem was that the song should've dedicated its first half to her exaggeration over her looks and the second half to how she wants Triton to pay. "Now here I am, ravenous with hunger, miserable beyond belief, and meanwhile wasting...wasting away. Lib as a clam, hardly getting younger, stranded on a dead-end reef. Completely wasting away." And then she resorts to repeating herself about how her looks aren't what she desired.1. Ursula complained about how her figure went in the film so the song is just a bit more elaboration as to how she thinks her life has gone.

I don't think that falling on stage would be any more of a problem than other shows. There's always a chance of things going wrong in a performance. What if Tarzan's swing-vine snapped? What if Mary Poppins' flying wire malfunctioned and she was left suspended above the audience for an hour? What if the beast fell to his death instead of Gaston?
But anyway, as for the songs, I haven't heard them, but they were only demos, and are often changed, re-arranged and sometimes cut completely before a show reaches broadway. Some songs have probably been changed already.
