I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE DIRECTLY ASSOCIATED WITH DISNEY ACTUALLY SAID THISthis reminds me how bad this sequel unfortunately was
@DJTommy812 Honestly we were a bit reluctant to even upload the music clips from this movie. At the end of the day, what really matters is that we get the songs uploaded period... regardless of what we think of them. Disney direct-to-video sequels aren't everyone's "cup of tea", but there's people out there that enjoy 'em.

I thought I saw this on Disney's official site at some point, thanks for confirming it for me. It probably makes a difference in which edition I'll get.The_Iceflash wrote:I don't know if anyone caught this but apparently through the digital copy one has access to two exclusive bonus features:

I was planning on getting the release with the digital copy, but this makes it a bit sweeter! It's neat that they are going to do this.KACENAID wrote:I thought I saw this on Disney's official site at some point, thanks for confirming it for me. I wonder though if this is the start of a promotion for digital releases... Maybe now they'll start releasing more special features via download, until they move their best releases to digital releases. I think there will always be physical releases, but it doesn't mean they'll remain being any good.

Two things...
One, why is Inside Walt’s Story Meetings only a commentary or is my information not correct? I’ve said this before but not every has an iPad or laptop at their disposal. To force people to buy a separate device to get the most out of their bonus material when it obviously could’ve just been put on disc using Blu-ray’s nextgen interactive capabilities is inconsiderate to say the least (having experienced Second Screen, it is indeed the best way to view this material but they need to have an option for those without the resources).
Two, the deleted scenes on the disc are labeled: “Introduction of Boris”, “Waiting for Baby”, and “Dog Show”. Are the Platinum Edition deleted scenes, "Turning the Tables" and "The Arrival of the Baby", under the classic DVD bonus features section as the Blu-ray.com review seems to suggest? Also, the digital copy apparently gets you two additional deleted scenes off iTunes titled: “Baby Arrives” and “Lady's Sweater”. For those who have it, is any of this information correct (could you clarify if some of these deleted scenes are just old ones renamed) and do I really have to buy the version with a digital copy to get all of the extras?
Also, if anyone needs a coupon, just PM me.

I was interested, too and found the German rating certificate. Those scenes are apparently new and run about 5 minutes together. Also, the digital copy apparently gets you two additional deleted scenes off iTunes titled: “Baby Arrives” and “Lady's Sweater”. Are we sure it's included on the DC, or is it just through iTunes ?The_Iceflash wrote:I don't know if anyone caught this but apparently through the digital copy one has access to two exclusive bonus features:

I don't understand. What was the point of Disney so eagerly jumping on Blu-ray if Disney isn't even use Blu-ray's technology or capabilities and now instead they use digital copy crap?
Wouldn't it be smarter to have everything just Blu-ray this time around, then next time do the digital crap? So there's more excuse to buy it?
Or do they think the digital stuff is going to take over too soon? Still, it's a smarter idea to make people wait till later to buy this stuff all over again in digital, isn't it?

no, it must be something like the CD strategy apple uses. if you buy the digital version, you might get a bonus track (which is usually awful or nothing special). It's like the retailers' exclusives really.Disney Duster wrote:I don't understand. My argument is that no matter how well digital sales take off, there will most likely always be a market in physical copies. Who are the people who would then buy the remaining physical copies? 1- people who can't afford to buy into digital sale technology, and 2- collectors who actually enjoy having physical items to collect. In that case, why not create ultimate special editions of each release? For $30 they could give us a product that is packed with bonus features and has nice packaging that both of the remaining buying public could get into. It could be a limited release, so less are made overall and the cost to the company wouldn't be as great. It seems to me like it's an obvious way to handle future releases that would remain profitable, but the general disinterest Disney seems to display about creating great releases (like they have in the past) hints to me that when digital sales start to top blu-ray will be treated like DVD is now.Disney Duster wrote:I don't understand. I think if there is ANY chance that digital media will become the norm of the future, then Disney ought to be putting 100% of it's efforts there, so that it becomes the innovative frontrunner of digital media, just as it has often been with physical media.
Do you all honestly believe that digital is not the future? I hope they continue to release collector's editions as much as everyone else, but to say they should forget this "digital copy crap" is to say that they should make themselves irrelevant to modern society.

I don't think anyone would have any problems with Disney investing in digital distribution if Disney would keep up the quality of work on physical formats. Unfortunately, they aren't and the impression I think most of us are getting is that we're being bullied to buy into these new release methods to get the releases we want when we all know it would be fairly easy for them to release the exclusive digital release content in other formats. There's a difference between investing in the future and a new format, and forcing your consumer to buy into a product they dont want when your past product was perfectly acceptable.SWillie! wrote:"We keep moving forward, opening up new doors, and doing new things..."

I wouldn't call it "bullied into"... I'd call it giving you a reason to move on to the future of media.singerguy04 wrote:I don't think anyone would have any problems with Disney investing in digital distribution if Disney would keep up the quality of work on physical formats. To refer back to the two groups you listed a few posts ago - the first group that cannot afford or is unwilling to buy the technology required for blu-ray or digital releases, and the second group of collectors. You're right that these would be the only two groups that will hold onto physical formats. But consider how big each group is. The first group will be MUCH larger than the second. And when you consider who the majority of that first group will be - parents buying the movie for young children and others who don't really care about bonus features or the brightest and best picture quality, what Disney does with their DVDs (and eventually their blu-rays) makes absolute sense. Why should they waste money putting out the best DVD release they can, when the majority of people buying the DVD don't care or notice? The amount of people that do care and yet are still holding onto DVD is so small that they are insignificant in the long run.
And so, the same thing will happen with blu-ray vs. digital. Disney knows that those who really care about the bonus features will buy whatever format they put those features on. And so, by putting "exclusive features" on a digital release, Disney is telling fans "hey, we're planning on going this route in the future. You might want to think about it." When the majority of things have gone digital, the most hardcore fans will have switched a long time ago, thus ushering in the rest of the people who more or less follow the trends.
Disney is a business, and they have to stay relevant while still making money. You might see it as bullying, but Disney sees it as the only way to get people to hop on the bandwagon ahead of the curve.
