It's like how Disney did with the Beauty and the Beast Widescreen. cropped from top to bottom yet more picture on the sides.

Are there still slipcovers on the DVDs despite being in a box?

And how about the Princess and the Frog trailer - is it new?

For anyone who bought this, did your copy come with a chapter insert? Mine didn't and it seems odd that Disney would ditch the inserts again, but since this is in print for only a month, maybe that is why it was ditched.

Disney Duster wrote:Vermin Friends, you know how The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning was something to look forward to in your evil middle school days? Well, this film was something for me to look forward to, and it didn't really dissapoint! I think it's actually way, way better than Ariel's Beginning...sorry. Of course it's not really a good movie, and not near the original classic, but nearer than Ariel's Beginning (come on at least it has a dramatic challenging villain and, like, a plot that tries to be related to the first one's story). I just love things about it and I guess I really do have love for the movie. I actually like Tip and Dash...!
Understandable, but unfortunately for me, looking back now, both of these movies disappointed me. Of course, I was around 3rd grade when the second one came out, and didn't need to look forward to it as much (mainly because I didn't even know about it until I saw the trailer on the VHS for An Extremely Goofy Movie), but I really needed Ariel's Beginning, for reasons you already know about, and it really did disappoint me. Still does.

Nonetheless, I'm still getting that beautiful trilogy set, since the original film has always been there for me whenever I needed it- it really helped me to have faith in life.

I'm totally going to do that, too. It'll be so fun!

Here is the deleted song, ENJOY!

Thanks for sharing, Matt! Like I said: The song sucks, but the animation in this single video is more on-model, more smoother than most of the movie itself.

I was actually really surprised to see it fully animated! Usually in deleted scenes and songs in animation, there's presented through demo reels and storyboards (well, everything I've seen so far). So I was really happy to see it so nicely animated- very cool ink effects, IMO.

And it's great that we finally get to see their mother. Though what a surprise, she looks exactly like Morgana. Hmm... lol

Matt, I know it seems like we're asking so much, but if you can, and if it's not too much trouble, could you please post a picture of the cover, perhaps from an angle so we can see the spine? IF not, then I'll probably still be able to see it on Thursday or something when I go with my mom to Sam's Club. I'm hoping that since the Mulan box set was so cheap there ($23 versus the $34 at other stores), the TLM box set will be, too.

Thanks again! :)

After seeing it at Best Buy yesterday, yes, it does maintain the slipcovers (even the Peter Pan/Return to Neverland/Tinkerbell box set had slipcovers too . . . plus the box!).

The Princess/Frog trailer, however, is not new - it's the same one from the main web page, so it's more of a teaser than trailer. It still looks good!

goofystitch: Mine from Best Buy lacked the chapter inserts too, so you're not alone. Then again, it was worth not knowing what extra crap was returned from the original release to the SE. (The "Merbabies" SS, "What am I?" game, the storybook . . . the craptacular TLM2 trivia game . . .) The only worth while addition to the SE was Morgana's song . . . I loved it. (Also, the cameo of Lil' Ursula and Morgana plus their mom was a nice touch . . . too bad they cut it - I would have loved to see it in the film altogether! Of course, I liked the fact that it was all animated! *will cap it if anyone wants it*)

Speaking of "on-model": Is it just me, or are Tip and Dash the most on-model characters in the entire movie? (Sure, their addition is rather pointless, but they are new characters . . . with hero issues. XD) Well, them and Morgana (at least until she gets the trident anyway).

I was at Target today and I noticed that the three pack comes with exclusive lithographs. If any UDers have bought the three pack, could you describe the lithos (or possibly post pictures)?

Of course. Hawaii still doesn't have a Target, and this is yet another special I'm missing out on because of it.

Well, TLM2 was great for me, so, I don't know what to say about that disappointing you (you were in 3rd grade...why didn't you love it? LOL). It's funny how back then when we're younger I guess we don't need big new things as pick me ups, we can keep enjoying the same thing as much as ever. Well, actually today you can still enjoy TLM but it's harder with how old you are and having seen it so many times and what's going on, right? But there will always be things coming out for TLM, related, and such. I'm glad it has helped you so much in life and will continue.

Oh, how I found out about TLM2 was on some web site, some girl had screencaps of Melody and I was like who? Wow! How? And then I found out about the movie and the trailer and kept up on it as much as I could! I bet I looked for the trailer on VHS, but I might actually have seen it first in a Disney Princess CD-ROM game, they put trailers on the discs sometimes... For Cinderella 2, of course I freaked out when I saw it on the Disney Home Video web page coming soon, and that was like a year before it came out, and I searched and asked friends if they saw the trailer and it was on the VHS for Recess: The Movie or whatever...! So I went and rented that and ooohhhh man! Of course it's weird, you know it isn't really as good animation or voices but it's so exciting and you love it anyway! Course it's always more exciting in the trailers and images until you finally watch it...! Except Cinderella 3 lived up to almost all of it for me...

I'm not watching the deleted song until I get the movie! I only have it on VHS! I want the DVD!

Oh and I didn't know Vermin Friends lived in Hawaii! COOL! Are you of Hawaiin descent?

For me, the highlights of the movie were the scenes in which Melody and Ariel are mermaids, the scene with the song "For a Moment", the seal pups, and Melody as a baby.

As for the deleted scene, I'm surprised Undertow didn't inform Morgana at one point that she's suppose to sing her lines. The animated objects and merfolk composed of ink were neat, they made me think of the parts in Dumbo's "Pink Elephants on Parade" when elephants are just outlines on a black background.

I held off buying Ariel's Beginning in anticipation of the Trilogy set. I'm going after that Target one with the lithographs. :)

Nope, I'm full Japanese, but we're required to take Hawaiian history classes (history of the monarchy, some language, etc.) in elementary school, and in freshman year, we take a class called "Modern Hawaiian History", which is basically the dark side of Hawaii's history (overthrow, Pearl Harbor, etc.); the middle and high schools also offer dance classes, which focus (at least 1/2 way) on hula.

So no, I'm not Hawaiian, but I can read it properly (was the only one in my class who could), and know a fair amount. :) I did take Japanese during my freshman and sophomore years (this past two years), but I hated it, and didn't understand it at all. Whatever, two years of language is good enough for most colleges.

Sky Syndrome, I wish I knew about the trilogy box set before AB came out. Or did I... oh wait. Yeah, I did know about it before, but I didn't think I'd get it since I was all practical and conservative WAY back then. Oh well, I'm happy for you! Are you getting it today?

I don't know if it's been brought up, but has anyone else noticed. That when they show the quick glimpse of Ariel's sisters. Adella in the original release was thicker, I think due to the animated series.

Well, in the new release, Adella has been reanimated into a more attractive, thinner version, a'la Ariel's Beginning.

I don't have a screen cap of the new one.

Yes, I mentioned that in my thread about Ariel and her sisters. We also never get to see Arista or Alana. :(

My friend bought the trilogy for her kid, and gave me the lithographs. They aren't much at all, they are about postcard size too.

That's a real shame. I mean, yes, it does show that they care about the trilogy's canon enough to fix something like that, but what does that say about the animated series? I guess we'll never see that on DVD, since it'll directly conflict with the movies, which are considered more official than the series.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of the lithographs! I've never seen a lithograph before. They look pretty nice! I recognize the first one as a movie poster (without text), thus why her hair and tail look different from the way they are shown in the princess franchise, all glossed over and glamorous. The second one was promotional, and used on the back cover of TLM2's initial release.

I've never seen the third one before, I really like the picture, except for Flounder, who looks much older than he did in this film or even the first, IMO. Still, it is very nice, and I can imagine very nice to have. Thanks again!

(I hate to keep asking, but could someone please that a picture of the TLM2 cover? I just want to see if there were any changes made between the one posted on Amazon [color, shading, etc.]..) :(

Two more questions:

Any idea why Disney withheld an insert for TLM II?

And if I had bought the PE of TLM by itself, what would have been inside? Any inserts? Movie rewards code? Because I got the trilogy set and it looked like TLM PE had been re-wrapped, and inside the case was empty. Not even any sort of insert or did Disney remove them for the trilogy box?

Hmm... I never really cared for the inserts, but without them, I probably would feel as if something were missing. I remember that at some point, in some thread, I was talking to someone, comparing our Mulan boxsets;

I said that my "Mulan: Special Edition" had a slip cover, "Mulan 2" did not. He said that both of them had slip covers, and someone else came in, saying that his Mulan SE didn't have a slip cover, but his "Mulan 2" did.

I think it might depend on where you buy it from. Just like when Ariel's Beginning came out, half of us had that insert/advertisement for TLM2, and the rest of us (like myself) did not.

If you had bought the TLM PE by itself, you'd probably have outdated coupons and advertisements inside, considering it was released in 2006. I just checked the inside of Mulan SE, and there's just the DVD Guide- no coupons, no advertisements. So maybe it's not just you. It's not much of a loss for me, since I'm usually never interested in what they advertise, but I can definitely see how it could be a loss for you, and many other people.

I got my Mulan set at a Wal-Mart in Wisconsin and neither DVD was with a slipcover.

However, they had the inserts.

I always want it all - slip cover, inserts, magic code.

I feel like I'm missing out or have been cheated if a component is missing.

I popped mine open and inside are two things: a DVD guide booklet that explains bonus features, shows "family trees" for the discs so you can find everything, a list of scene selections, an announcement for the Platinum editions of 2007 (Peter Pan and The Jungle Book), and a Disney Movie Rewards code.

The other thing is a Disney DVD Insider booklet, which has: coming to home video announcements for Peter Pan Platinum, Cars, The Fox and the Hound 2, Air Buddies, Enchanted Tales: A Kingdom of Kindness, Mickey Saves Santa, and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time; pointless tidbits about some trinkets Jack Sparrow has on his person (a shinbone of a reindeer, [non-specified] animal tails, two rings, and a blue spangle bead); a page stating Jim Carrey is Jack Frost in Santa Clause 3, Steve Anderson voices the Bowler Hat Guy in Meet the Robinsons, and Ernie D is a Disney Radio DJ; an announcement for Meet the Robinsons coming to theater, and blurbs for "catch Little Einsteins on Playhouse Disney!", "go on the Disney Cruise Line!", and "join the Disney Vacation Club!", "join the Walt Disney Collectors Society!", "Enter the [now expired] Master Replicas sweepstakes!", "Get Blu-Ray!", and "Get DirectTV!"
