Thank you very much, lighthousemike! Well, actually, the pc has a problem and none of your excellent videos plays for me- that's why I requested screencaps- but it's absolutely ok, you don't have to worry about this! Sooner or later, I'll get the TLM dvd and I'll have those trailers and images from the trailers! You've been so kind and patient with all of us, thank you so much!

This trailer isn't any different from the one on the Disney Princess Site, so if you haven't seen it yet, you can see it there.

What's a good DTV movie without it?

It's just so we can verify whether it's the original white logo, or the powder blue logo. I think everybody wants to see this.
I think this would help. The powdered white castle logo is completely restored for "The Little Mermaid" DVD which will be coming out this Tuesday. I hope lighthousemike would do better if they could put a powder white logo in a 640x480 screencap version.

Lighthousemike, I'm not really sure if the later version of the Walt Disney Pictures logo would look like this.

Does the 1997 reissue did have that later version of the logo? I remember seeing "The Little Mermaid" in the Masterpiece edition on VHS that I didn't have, it did have the alter version of the old logo as shown on the second screencap.

By the way, the Masterpiece version did have a special end credits featuring Jodi Benson in a music video called "Part of Your World" while the credits was shown split screen on the right. I've seen the closing credits of "The Little Mermaid" with Jodi's music video being shown. I have the VHS original Black Diamond edition where the original end credits are blue text. Anybody notice that?

My God you can't even make a simple joke without it snowballing!

For the record there are a number of DTV films I like:

Lilo ad Stitch II: Stitch Has a Glitch
Bambi II
Aladdin and the King of Theives
The Lion King 3
Return to Neverland
Kronk's New Groove
Pooh's Grand Adventure
Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure

Everything else is trash though! ;)

Okay, I feel down-right unclean as the DTV that I liked the most is Cinderella 2. Aside from that and The Return of Jafar, I haven't really got into the DTV thing and I don't own any at all.

Out of all the DTV films, I've only seen The Return Of Jafar, and Pooh's Grand Adventure. I watched the first one when it was just released, and I thought it was okay. Don't know if I would say the same, if I would see it again.
Pooh's Grand Adventure was also good. My only problem with it was the animation, it was different from The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh, which had a very unique style.
And that's essentially my fear for the rest of the DTV films. That it looks too different from the original films.

They've changed the end credits!

When Mermaid was made, there was no DTS, and that should read "Dolby Stereo" and not "Dolby Digital". :headshake:

The animation looks amazing! You gotta give it that I think. I mean, anybody who says every DTV sequel is subpar to the original in terms of animation needs to see those screen-caps, in fact, I think it's almost to a point you'd be dissing the original if dissing this animation.

Story-wise, yes it does looks childish and a marketing tool, I actually find the origial to be mediocre too. I mean, none of the characters really had depth to them at all, they're either just "good" or "bad", the story was a stereotypical "good v.s. evil" with nothing reallly new added to it, plus really did nothing but rehash Snow White and Cinderella. In fact, since Disneyland's castle was called "Sleeping Beauty's Castle" in 1955, I wouldn't be surprised if Walt only approved of it just so he have a back story to that castle. In other words, for marketing reasons!

Take that what you will when you diss it.
