Ok, I just wanna say how much I loved this movie. I was pleasantly surprised that I had finally found a movie this summer that wasn't terrible. Spider-man 3 was the biggest disappointment of my life, Shrek 3 wasn't spectacular, and so I entered Pirates 3 hoping to have found a decent sequel. And I found just that. I honestly don't understand why people did not like it. I don't understand why it didn't get a bigger box office weekend. I liked it alot....

Preliminary estimates are in, and well, it looks like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was far from breaking the opening weekend record. From Friday to Sunday, it is estimated that the film earned $112,547,000. That puts the film at #5 among highest opening weekend totals. Adding in the Thursday totals, the film is estimated to have earned $126,547,000. When Monday totals are added into the weekend totals, I expect Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End will break the record for highest Memorial weekend totals, previously held by X-Men: The Last Stand, which earned $122,900,000. during it's Memorial weekend.
Here are the top 5 highest opening weekends of all time, with their opening weekend totals listed.

Yes, I did mean to say POTC: AWE not POTC: DMC.I'll agree about Spider-Man and Shrek being let downs, but I think POTC (I think you meant AWE) was friggin awesome. I ended out the trilogy very nicely and I was blown away by it.
I wont spoil anything, but the first 15-20 minutes of the movie, I kept thinking "Can they DO that in a Disney movie?!"
My friends and I dressed up as pirates for the event, and I, as you may have guessed, once again donned my Captain Jack costume. It's not a very good one, but I was definitely turning some heads. I'll show you once my friend gets the pictures online.
Total Awesomeness.

Anyways the reason I didn't like POTC: AWE was because the middle of the film was boring. Then almost everyone double cross each other. I would say it's an average film not too good and not so bad. It would probably get a B- because of the ending. But still it's worst then the first two. Spider-Man 3 gets a B+ while Shrek the Third gets a C-.

Ok, so I went to see this over the weekend (Saturday night to be exact). The film was overlong, often nonsensical and a complete piece of cinematic fluff - but those are just some of the many things that made POTC: AWE one of the most fun experiences I've had this year at the cinema.
Perhaps the only complaint is the length, as I really believe they are doing the franchise more harm than good. At almost 3 hours, it could have done without at least 30 minutes in the first half, especially all the mincing about with one person betraying the next. However, all that aside, when the film gets going, it really doesn't stop. In fact, the film probably doesn't draw breath for the last hour and it leaves you wanting more.
Another minor complaint is that the relationship between Elizabeth and Will is really not explored at all until the crucial 'bonding'. Given that much of the emotion of the conclusion relies on you caring that these characters remain together, very little is done to engender any great feelings towards them. In my mind, that was the one area where the film fell flat.
Loved the surrealist moments in piece, especially Jack in the Locker, and would have gladly sat through more of them. However, given this is a 'big blockbuster', that seems like too much wishful thinking.
Walked out with a swagger in my step, feeling like a million bucks. Would gladly see it again, but given the length, will probably wait a few weeks.

ok im content with the opening numbers altho it didnt break any records for opening weekends. at least it makes 126 million which is only a few notches below DMC's 135. that's understandable due to some ppl feeling let down by DMC (which i love!)
also i haf a question, barbossa has a peg leg right? why is it in the battle scene at the helm i thought i saw him wearing boots on both feet.im pretty sure it were boots. did he wear boots during battle to hide his weakness or what?

Did anyone else not get to see the trailer for Enchanted? My theatre didn't show it. 
I gave the movie a low rating because of the end, but then after I heard what the bonus scene was, I gave it a higher rating, but still slightly lower because I didn't get to see it (didn't stay long enough for the credits).

Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.
