Re: Any test drawings for The Witch character please?
I've been here long enough and gone through enough of this thread to surely safely say we have not seen the witch yet. We have seen some people in front of what look like concept drawng for Rapunzel, and some people thought they saw concepts for the prince, but he looks a lot like Jim hawkins from Treasure Planet, so we think the boy character concepts were for that movie.Deco King wrote:I haven't the patience to trek through all 13 pages of this post - but has the Witch character been shown yet please anyone?
I remember seeing some images of an ogre and a castle, and people thought it was for Rapunzel, but it turns out those were for Enchanted! The castle in the film looks just like the concepts I saw.

We do need to see the witch allready.Disney Duster wrote: I remember seeing some images of an ogre and a castle, and people thought it was for Rapunzel, but it turns out those were for Enchanted! The castle in the film looks just like the concepts I saw.
Are you sure those were for Enchanted? (Becouse the girl\princess in the picture had Rapunzel's hair and she was with a kinght,i don't think those were Giselle and Edward) i think that maybe the troll was created for Razpunzel but ended up in Enchanted,or it's a different troll, and he looked like a gorilla.
Look:

It's Rapunzel and the prince, not Giselle and Edward.

It's hard to tell! Her hair isn't as long as Rapunzel, but she's blonde. Though.... in the story, doesn't Rapunzel's hair get cut REALLY short once she's out of the tower? hmmmm... I donno.... The castle itself its look Andalasia.....Ariel'sprince wrote:You're wellcomeyou also think it's Rapunzel and not Giselle, right?.

Maybe she cut only some part so her hair will still like good (notice how her hair is long in a scary way in the other concept arts).Poody wrote:It's hard to tell! The castle is not the Andalasia castle,it's the one from the other concept art.
She dosn't look like Giselle and i also got a prove why it's Rapunzel-the knight\prince is overwight, the prince in this version was supposed to be a overwhight pizza dliever.
Anyway i think it's Rapunzel and not Enchanted (thought it whould be neat if we whould find out it is an Enchanted concept art).

The picture is from old version, entitled "Rapunzel Unbraided"... so you can see the fat Prince...
The old version about modern day teens (a bold girl and a fat pizza delivery guy who are tourned into Rapunzel and her Prince by a spell of the evil witch) was the most stupid plot I've seen... so, thank heaven, they changed the plot...
Today the story has been changed and Prince is the guy who looks a lot like Jim on Treasure Planet... he is the Prince from Rapunzel and NOT Jim... I say it because in the picture you can see Mr. Glen Keane and others concept arts from Rapunzel; moreover, Glen Keane didn't animate Jim on Treasure Planet, he animated John Silver.
The witch isn't showed... I read that Jason Ryan (supervising animator for the Witch) want to create a witch who looks like Snow White witch, so a very horrorific witch! wow!

Actually, that's old news. He's not fat anymore....veu wrote:In Rapunzel I think that the Prince isn't fat because I think he must to be charming and handsome, simply because it's a fairy tale!!! A fat Prince is a mistake because fairy tale needs to be classical and make to dream... a fat Prince isn't a correct decision for a new very classical fairy tale...

I still think it's Rapunzel.Poody wrote:Good point about the overweight prince, though it's hard to tell.
There's some Enchanted concept art in a book that I bought... I'll try and post the pics soon
You have Enchanted concept arts?
Veu-I know the old version,it does have a stupid plot,a fat prince is a nice idea (like a black Disney Princess) but still, the new one looks better.
Vermin Friends-i found the picture in Jim Hill Media with other concept arts.
rs_milo_whatever-i think it is a joke that she only cut some part of her hair so it will still look good, but on the other hand look at her in the old concept arts but that's the old version.

Well, I don't have any news about Rapunzel, I just want to repeat what was mentioned in an article years ago:
"Mr. Keane's team also tackled a project closer to his heart: a computer-animated version of Ariel that would be seen in a Disney theme-park show called "Mickey's Philharmagic." In an early version, Mr. Keane noticed that his famous mermaid didn't seem like herself. "There was a deadness in her eyes, a dull quality," he says. The shoulders seemed stiff. She also wasn't hitting what old-time Disney artists call "the golden poses," the few memorable images that sell each character to the audience.
Fixing the piece required combining the experienced eye of a traditional animator with the computer chops of someone from the new school. Mr. Keane drew by hand what he wanted and superimposed it over the computer-animated image. At one point, his team worked for nearly a week trying to light up Ariel's smile by pushing her cheeks up and creating little creases around her eyes.
"The Ariel project was a testing ground for forcing a CG figure into a hand-drawn look," Mr. Keane says. "We made the computer bend its knee to the artist, rather than the artist bend its knee to the computer."
In other words, the Ariel segment was Keane's first test with computer animation, and can be seen as his preporation for Rapunzel. This clip was made years ago, and during the time between then and now the skills and technology has developed much further.
It is pretty blurry, which makes sense since it is a 3D clip filmed in 2D:
