Cool! Thanks for the tip. I'm looking for some used DVDs on eBay like the 1999 version of Simba's Pride.
I'm careful to read the product's description. I'll also ask the seller some questions.

Don't worry, we won't.
Anything that's from Malaysia is a bootleg..no matter how "great&perfect" is looks or how similar it looks with a Region 1 U.S. release.
Trust me..I've been through 3 bootlegs.
with a poor excuse from one seller saying that Disney has factories in Malaysia as well...(hey, who's the seller?)
Seriously, if Disney did have a factory in Malaysia...I think I'd rather buy airline tickets to go there to purchase those Limited Issue DVDs myself and have a well-needed vacation with Ryan.

As much as I adore the continent Asia...I wouldn't trust buying OOP/Limited Issue DVDs Asia...not that I'm being racist, I just like to save money and support the real Disney Co.
Yea, now go ask him why his Pinocchio picture is more blurry than his other DVD pictures!
Tip of Advice: people usually leave positive feedback for their items because..
1.) they're too..blind...to know what a true bootleg is.
2.) you leave negative, you'll get negative feedback.
P.S.: the reason why I knew my Lion King 2 Limited Issue was a bootleg was because when I popped it in and looked at subtitles...what the heck.."thai"?!
I recently bought a used copy of Beauty and The Beast Platinum Edition on ebay for $42.75. I was so excited to watch and of course when I tried to play Disc 1, I got the dreaded "unable to read disc" error message. I have tried playing it on 7 different DVD players and each one gives me a similar error message. Disc 2 plays fine. I'm so upset .....I could not find a sealed copy for sale so I figured I'd buy one that was used....and now I may be out $42.75 plus whatever else it will cost me to buy another copy.....that is if I can find one. I contacted the seller so hopefully I will hear back from him but dumb me left positive feedback for the seller before I had a chance to play the movie (I know...dumb move, but I wanted to do it before I forgot). I don't know if I should bother contacting Disney to see if they can send me a replacement Disc 1 because I doubt they will have it since the movie is in the vault. Any advice on how I can replace disc 1 without having to buy a whole new movie?
That's why I don't use eBay or my parents don't use it anymore.
Too many scams.
I'm not exactly sure what you can do, but I think you got jipped.
I guess try taking it to some electronic store or something and see what they say.
It could be dirty. *shrug*
Does it have scratches on it? Like when you face it toward a light, does it have scratchy looking lines?
If so, then I don't think you can repair it. I think you gotta buy a new one.
Sorry if this doesn't help.
I think you may be in luck because I had bought a B&B DVD also and te disc had damage. I called Disney and they said it was eligible for the Disk Replacement program. I would call first because they send you a paper that you fill out and a free postage stamp to put on your package. I hope everything works out!
How long ago was this Yaya? In the past couple of months? I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they can do. I hope they can replace it for me! I've been wanting this one for a while and I would hate to be out $43 and be stuck with a coaster.
Please don't slam all ebay sellers, because some sell bootlegs. There are a lot of honest sellers. Don't be afraid to some research and check their feedback.
Most bootleggers will have good feedback because of the fear of retaliation, but they will have some positives here and there that mention fakes, copies etc...
Don't forget this person bought a used copy of Beauty & the Beast, maybe the first disc just doesn't work or the seller will offer a refund.
I have to agree with msadrakula, Not all ebays are scammers.. Patience and research will make bootleg purchases extremely minimal. I've gotten some good deals on real movies after look'n around for a while for the movie I wanted.
Jfig.. There are a few options you can go..
Clean the disk, see if that helps.
If you find the disk authentic, but damaged, you can get a refund through ebay. Esp if you paid via Paypal, file a complaint.
If you opt to send it to Disney for a replacement, You can go back on ebay and leave a note under your feedback to state disk was damaged. The positive will stand, but it will be noted.
I heard back from the seller and he is checking into how to file an insurance claim since I added shipping insurance to the shipping. He said that he last viewed the movie 2 weeks ago and it worked. He provided me with some suggestions on things I could try but the Disc still will not play. Hopefully Disney will be able to replaces Disc 1 for me. I'm waiting until they open to call them. I do have to say, for a preowned DVD, everything was in immaculate condition. Not a single mark or tear on the slipcover or the dvd case. He is being somewhat helpful, except he hasn't mentioned the posibility of a refund yet in the e-mails we've sent back and forth, so let's see what happens.

If insured, the delivery company will have to pay for it, not him. So your covered on that aspect... Hopefully Disney will have a replacement for you.
