Glad you liked it! What did you think about the ending and Rey and Ben kissing and Ben dying afterwards? Did you think it was an appropriate ending or would you have preferred something happier? Lol, good timing with TLJ.
It’s funny you mention that. Between skimming this thread and reading Twitter reactions, a lot of the movie’s details were spoiled for me but not this one. I thought there was a lot of sexual tension in their moments together throughout the trilogy so it made sense. It seemed to be the happiest ending Kylo Ren could earn— I mean, he did some pretty awful things in his past. Just about everything in the movie worked for me.

Rose being sidelined had to be done. Not only did she contribute next to nothing in the last jedi, but because of how badly that movie handled everything by essentially putting the story on pause, JJ had a lot to fit into this movie, there simply was no time to make her character interesting in this one.

Contributed next to nothing? Really? She freed those dog-horse thingies in The Last Jedi and aided Finn and DJ in trying to hack the mainframe in the Star Destroyer so they wouldn’t track the Resistance fleet. And, um... oh, yes. She kept Finn from attempting a suicide run on a gigantic cannon that would’ve killed him anyway. In other words, she managed to make sure he lives to fight another day.

This article will let you know why she is a pretty pivotal character in TLJ.

Rose's purpose was to bring Finn from caring only about himself and his friends to care about the cause of the Resistance. However, characters shouldn't be in a vacuum, JJ should have repurpose her character in TRoS.

I don't get the Rose hate at all tbh. But I especially don't understand those who claim she had no impact in the story for TLJ. If it wasn't for Rose, Finn wouldn't be interested at all in the Resistance and his only concern would be getting Rey out of there.

Not to mention, Rose was not meant to be a flashy hero like Rey or Han Solo. She represents the unrecognized heroes of our world, who get up every day and do the right thing no matter how hard it is. We need more Rose Ticos in film and fiction.

Yeah, I quite liked that about Rose's character. While I wouldn't say she was the most strongly depicted character in TLJ, she was at the very least more interesting than the likes of, say, Admiral Holdo. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking smack about Holdo by any means, but there was something about Rose's character that affected me on an emotional level, and I attribute that to Kelly's turn as the character. I too was a little miffed that she didn't get much to do in this last entry, but I took it as a case of Abrams trying to tie up a lot of loose ends with this story and left it at that.

I don't think that's the case since he brought three new characters.

The character of Jannah basically carries out the same function that Rose did.

I liked Holdo a lot. She and Leia have only one scene together but in that moment, I really believed that they've had a long lasting friendship. If I didn't know better, I'd think that Carrie Fisher and Laura Dern were both lifelong friends from that exchange but I think Laura only really met her during TLJ and was otherwise just someone who idolized her all those years. Also Holdo has one of the most iconic moments in the saga with the Holdo maneuver. Even JJ repeats it in TROS...if you look at Endor in the scene with the Ewoks, the Star Destroyer has been destroyed in the same way.

I get that sometimes when my Internet is slow and I have to keep reloading and pressing the submit button over and over until it works. Sometimes it also won't work because of a certain word.

I looked in the Feedback section because I remember asking about some error myself a while back and this matches the error I had a couple of times. I can't know for certain, but both times it happened to me it was in regard to one specific word I had used. I went through my post and tried to change any word that might somehow be considered "risque" for some reason, and eventually the post went through after I'd changed a word. The words I changed seemed really random. It happened to me in The Lion King Discussion thread and The Happytime Murders thread.

I don't know if y'all read this, but now Chris Terrio and JJ Abrams are blaming Rose's lack of screentime on Carrie Fisher.

The Rise of Skywalker Creators Say It's Carrie Fisher's Fault Kelly Marie Tran Wasn't in the Movie
https://themuse.jezebel.com/the-rise-of ... 1840725558

This would surprise me but then I remember that in TLJ, Rian Johnson made sure that everything Carrie filmed made it into the movie. Whereas JJ went out of his way to delete finished scenes of Leia.

So I watched it yesterday. While I do think it was messy in areas, it wasn't nearly as bad as how people made it out too be. It was quite entertaining in my opinion. What helped was finally seeing the power trio of this trilogy working together more and some of the C3PO stuff was funny. It does become a little silly towards the end but I still had fun with it.

OK, I will try to repost it, one word at the time if needed.

A couple of things about the force ghosts. When Yoda and Kylo Ren dies, their bodies disappear into thin air just seconds later. Rey is dead for at least some minutes, but her body is still around long enough for Kylo to resurrect her. Just found it a little strange.

And the force ghosts of Luke and Leia still have the age they had when they died. But in the end of The Return of the Jedi, we see the force ghost of a young Hayden Christensen. So Darth Vader becomes young again, but not his children? Their ghosts are now at least twice their father's age visually speaking.

It depends on how you look at it. You could remove everything about the journey to Canto Bight from the script without affecting the main story arc. That planet and everything that followed was essentially a wild goose chase.
And Finn's heroic attempt to die with honor, only to have Rose saving him, didn't lead to anything either. Had he just stayed in the caves instead, it would have change nothing.
Not that these parts can't be fund and entertaining, they were just not that important.

That wasn't the case originally. The ghost was played by Sebastian Shaw who was Anakin in Return of the Jedi. Lucas disrespectfully replaced him with Hayden Christensen. I personally go by the unaltered version so to me they are in the same age they die.

Yes, but Lucas keep insisting that all the changes he did are now canon, so one would expect that to influence and have consequences for the later movies. Which was clearly not the case here.

And I found out why my posts were being rejected. The reason was a spesific word I can't write for obvious reasons. That word is also the name of a 1995 Martin Scorsese movie, starring Robert De Niro.

Personally I don't really care who decides what is canon. This has become such a mess in Star Wars that I just care about what I like and to me that's "my canon" I guess. Honestly I only care about the unaltered original trilogy, TFA and TLJ.

Wow, this forum doesn't let us write c-a-s-i-n-o?

The reason Lucas replaced the ghost of Anakin with the younger version is that in his head, Anakin died in ROTS. So that's why redeemed Anakin resembles his younger self and not Sebastian Shaw. Personally I am not a fan of Hayden Christensen, as an actor or a person, so I prefer Sebastian Shaw.

BTW John Boyega and Reylo have been trending today for all the wrong reasons. John Boyega made some sexist and vulgar comments about Rey on his Instagram today. When he was called out on it, he got prickly and decided to attack the Reylos (because surely only Reylos would be against sexism). So he's been posting all this hate towards Kylo Ren's character and Reylo in general to deflect on the sexism he's been called out for.

Keep in mind that this is the same guy who claims Chris Brown is innocent, who lost his TROS script which was found by someone else and sold online on Ebay, who denigrated his employers by saying he would never do a Disney+ show and basically looked down on all the actors who are doing those shows, and also blatantly called out Kelly Marie Tran as weak for being kicked out of social media for harassment. Ironic that he's blocking people left and right today so who's the weak one now?
