DisneyFreak- I'm 17 (now going on 18 ), so my parents no longer care that much if I watch R-rated movies. Heck, I was watching Braveheart a few nights ago with my mom on Bravo!
Anyway, my parents in general still make a HUGE fuss over any Disney DVD I want to buy. Despite the fact that its been around 2 years since I started collecting Disney DVD's, they think its all a "phase", and that I'm wasting money on stuff I won't want when I'm older. But now, its not so much the idea of a "phase" that they keep talking about, but more that I'm going to college next year, that I need to "grow up" and further that "Disney Animated films are made for children, not adults." (That last one ticks me off to no end, and they know it!)
I think that when I go to college next year, I'm going to have a huge Disney party with my roomie and do nothing except watch Disney movies and buy a cake with Disney Princesses on it (or something like that). God I can't wait to go to college...less than 1 year to go now!! I should seriously start a countdown until I graduate...

Yeah, my parents do and say the exact same thing. UGH.brotherbear wrote:DisneyFreak- I'm 17 (now going on 18 ), my parents still make a HUGE fuss over any Disney DVD I want to buy. You guys don't need to worry, I'm 37 next birthday (which I'm spending at Disneyland Paris) and I'm probably more into Disney stuff right now than I've ever been. I just wish they'd hurry up and return to 2D animation. I've been building up a huge collection of Disney merchandise over the last few years, as you can see from my photo's on the previous page. I've collected the movies, first on VHS and then on DVD for years. Someone lending me a copy of Beauty and the Beast on VHS is what got me started. But my real passion for collecting started when I went to Disneyland Paris last March. What really got me started was when a couple of figurines were broken in my luggage on the way home. I trawled through Ebay to find replacements, and finally contacted DLRP to get some of them replaced. But Ebay got me hooked on collecting other figurines, mainly Belle and Ariel stuff to start with. And then I continued collecting pins, I'd already bought a lot at DLRP when I'd been there. Everything just snowballed. I go to college at Leeds on day release every week, and they have a Disney Store in the city, near the college, and I usually go in and buy something. I started collecting the plush Princess dolls earlier at first, and then they brought out a lot of plushes for The Little Mermaid. Last week I just started collecting the 7 Dwarfs, and have got Doc and Dopey so far, which you can see sat alongside Snow White in the pic. Probably the prized items in my collection though are my Armani figurines, so far I've got Ariel, Belle and Briar Rose, and will probably be looking to add a Cinderella to the collection next. So when people start saying you're too old for Disney, don't listen to them - I regularly watch Disney movies, and Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King are amongst my favourite movies of all time.

) Also, I just sent in my Platinum Edition of
Beauty and the Beast to the Disc Replacement Program, so that is why it is not here.
My Disney DVD Collection (minus the live action films):
Stitch w/ my "Classic Disney" CD and 3/4 of my VHS collection (there's about 10 more down in my basement's entertainment center, because they could not fit my my "Disney VHSs" bin up in my room!):
*Will post pics of other VHSs, pins from WDW, and figurines at some later point, and an addition to my Disney DVD collection after Christmas!
Your thoughts/comments? Remember I just started collecting last summer, and I have been very inconsistent when it comes to buying DVDs. I would have more Disney, but there were alot of TV Boxed sets (namely Seinfeld and Friends) that have set me back, stalling the growth of my Disney DVD collection. Also, what DAC DVD would be essential to my collection? Or do I already have the 'key' DVD?

gee that sucks..yeah I dont understand why people think Disney movies are just for kids? I mean everytime I do a freaking myspace survey one question is always "do you still watch Disney Movies?" Does that mean were not supposed to? Of course evertime I answer I always say "HECCKK YEAHH!!!" haha, but yeah Im glad my parents dont make a big deal about it, they actually like the fact I collect these movies cuz they say if I keep em my kids wil enjoy them or something. My entire family will watch one with me every so often. Haha the only Disney movie I feel awkward watching with everyone else around is The Little Mermaid, because I use to have a big crush on Ariel when I was a kid, and its already been like 14 years since I did(Im 18 now). And just the other day I was watching it and my mom starts singing along with Ariel and shes all like "AWWW REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE LITTLE JEREMY! I USE TO SING THIS ALL THE TIME?" god that was embarrassing haha I was like "MOM YOUR KILLING THE MOVIE! STOP!". But yeah I think Ill throw a Disney party too!brotherbear wrote:DisneyFreak- I'm 17 (now going on 18 ), so my parents no longer care that much if I watch R-rated movies. Yep!PixarFan2006 wrote:Another ripped Beauty and the Beast cover? That's the second one I've seen so far
Man, our Beauty and the Beast VHSs have really taken a beating!
I can't really remember what happened to mine, though. I think that part of the plastic ripped off in the corner, and it just got ripped and worn out from putting it back and taking it off of the shelf!
No, the cover is not glued on. We just have the white cases with the clear plastic in place to slip the cover into. The cases are just like Australia's (I've seen your pics), but only they are white, and just slightly larger.RachelSmachel wrote:It's kind of weird seeing all these American videos. I didn’t know they were different. It seems you have a white case with the cover glued on it. In Australia we have clear cases and the cover is slipped in between a clear cover and VHS case.

Your collections are really great!
Here's mine:

Except for the Ellen DeGeneres Collection, all DVDs are RC2 (the German Versions).
Some DVDs are missing, too (X-Men 2+3, Butterfly Effect, Scrooged, Over the hedge and Mickey's once upon a christmas), they're at my boyfriends'.
Don't mind the figures and the other stuff around the DVDs.

now that i finally figured out how to post web-hosted images on here, i can finally show you my collection
note that only four dvds on my shelf are live action, everything else is cartoon stuff!!!

Note that with my Disney collection (and possibly others) that I find it easier to sort it an alphabetical order rather than in chronological order, mainly cuz the disney sequels mess up the chronological arrangement and in this way, it makes more sense
