I am really excited for this re-release of The Fox and the Hound. It is one of my favorite Disney movies (and in my opinion one of the most underrated of the Disney classics). I wish it were 2-disc. Does anyone have more screen shots for the movie??

i won't pick this up right away, since I have a video tape of it I got a few years ago (couldn't find a DVD and I had wanted to see it......). But I'll get it on Black Friday or sometime after that.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I think I will remain satisfied with my Gold Collection DVD for now, after reading the review. I'd like to get the new one for "Passing the Baton" and the gallery, but I'm not going to worry about it. I'll only get it if I find some great deal on it someday while simultaneously having petty cash for it. I'll stick to being worried that I haven't picked up Dumbo yet, and I'm only after that one because of the restoration.

One step farther from ever cashing in on Disney Movie Rewards...

As always, very informative review. Kudos to UD.

I'm definitively upgrading.

Best Buy - $17.99
Target - $19.99
Circuit City - $19.99

I will be picking this up at Best Buy because I don't have the previously released Gold Collection DVD. I probably didn't get the GC because, I don't like the Gold Collection line.

I was all set to upgrade until reading the review. The main reason for upgrading for me was the restoration, which doesn't seem to be much of an improvement. I do want the short making of and gallery... and I could use the DMR points to get closer to that tour of the Disney Studios, but I'm considdering passing on this one. I guess I'll see what happens on Tuesday. Also, it's been reported that the cheapest advertised price so far has been Best Buy's $17.99. Does anyone know of any other stores that have it cheaper? It would be great if Wal Mart had it for $14.99 like they did with TLM so I would feel more justification buying it. lol.

how dissapointing. I was considering upgrading from my black diamond vhs, but the new edition hardly seems like it has much to offer.

I agree that this is a major disappointment, although if all you have is the Black Diamond VHS, then there's no excuse not to upgrade. The picture and sound even on the old DVD are much better than that. I, however, have the old disc, so I think I'll just hang on to it.

I'd like to see the Passing the Baton featurette and gallery -- heck, even the lion short would be nice since I don't have that yet -- but I do have Lend a Paw, and since the film is not improved in transfer quality I don't think I'll worry about it yet. If it's on sale for cheap on Black Friday and I don't have anything else to buy, then I may consider getting it, but otherwise I'll stick to what I have.

Thanks for saving me the money, Luke.

On WalMart.com it is listed at $18.87, but I'm pretty sure that that is just for the internet. I'll go look to see if we got an ad today, and I'll post if I find something.

I'm betting this movie will be at least 16.99 or lower at Target. They put 19.99 for Bambi 2 and TS 2 in their ads when they were released, but was a different price at the store.

No, I definitly got Bambi 2 at Target for $16.99 (I bought TS 2 for $15.99 at Circuit City!). The lowest price for a Disney movie at Target has always been $16.99. I know because with tax (6.5%) it comes out to be $18.09. I checked in the ad that I got today, and it's listed at $19.99. Click and that something Companion movie are both $16.99, but TF&tH is $19.99

I know it's 19.99, but I'm saying it could be a lie and could be 16.99 in store. (ie: Bambi 2 and Toy Story 2)

Would Target do something like that? Lie to their valued customers, like myself? Oh well, you could be right, but this hasn't happened to me before. Let's hope that it doesn't happen to me on Tuesday. I am a CRUCIAL money spender, and buy the cheapest products, with out the great things that any disney fan would want (ie the TLM Gift Set at Best Buy. I would LOVE to have it, but I have to spend my money wisely on the movies that I absolutely want.).

Odd...I picked up TLM PE for $15.99 :P

(and of course, when I went to Wal-Mart today, saw it was only $13.99, dammit!)

GRRRR! HAHAHA, I guess I overlooked that price. Wal-Mart had it for $13.99? My mom bought my copy there, but it came with a "10 Favorite Disney Songs From Under the Sea". It's a good CD, with some songs off of the TV show, some from the movie, and some I've never even heard of before. None-the-less, it's a good buy. I got a CD from Sam's Club with the "10 Disney Favorite Songs" including the Cindy songs (it was the Cindy DVD, afterall), TLM, TLK, Aladdin, BatB, Pinocchio, and SotS. I enjoy them, and I should look for these titles with CDs more often.
