I went out and bought Bambi II on the first day.

Is there any web-site that tracks $$ of the first day sales vs. first week in an organized fashion? What is the record DVD for first day sales? I'm trying to see how Bambi II fits into that scale.

About comparing Bambi II to the original Bambi, there is no comparison, the original stands out (to me) as the greatest achievement in cinema history (my favorite film of all time)..and the sequel wouldn't top it because it's a different time and different circumstances, which is why I feel that the original is such a beautiful and wonderous masterpiece, because of the time it was made (before most of us (or our parents for that matter) were even thought of). Time has a funny way of making things more sentimental and glorious (they just simply could not make another Bambi, it has only been done once and that was in 1942). Bambi just is Bambi...there is nothing to compare it to, it is the original..Bambi II however for todays standards is a wonderful film. It has the same emotion of the original only in todays standards. While I am praying for Bambi's Children (they can follow the book on that one, it is absolutely wonderful), I would love to see a more silent and simple film of it, it is TRUELY what Walt wanted, because Nature is honestly the main character in Bambi, and nature dosen't talk, make jokes, and that is why I loved the original so much, the fact that nature was really the main character. Most of us see Bambi II and love it because it reminds us of the beauty, wonder, andjoy of the original, we just love to see those characters and settings. So, in my honest opinion, Bambi II is loved, beause it reminds the true fans (me anyways) of the love we have for the first one. There never has and never will be another film like Bambi, it is unique and timeless, and even if you found it boring, everyone seems to rememeber it :D

Well you see that's what the Disney company intended. They kind of exploited the greatness of the original film to sell the new film because everyone loves the original. Everyone loves the new movie too including us because it's Bambi. They're are still a few people who think it's a crappy imitation and that's alright; they're entitled to their opinion and they don't have to watch it. I think what so great about it is that it's a new chapter, we see what happens before he grows up. I always wondered what happens next and hopefully they'll continue. Yeah, you might not put adult Bambi on T-shirts or lunch boxes but you're forgetting his cute cuddly children. Which is why I think another sequel is inevitable. You can see the difference in society in these films; what might of appealed to people in the 40's defiantly doesn't appeal to us now. Which is why they incorporate more talking and jokes in the new film because they want the film to be accepted by today's society. But enough Sociology for now! ;)

Did anyone preorder theirs at Fye? I just picked mine up today. (Today was the soonest i was able to get to the mall) Anyway, If You Preordered it at Fye it came with an awesome Bambi poster. (the original not the sequel) I Believe it's a reprint of the 1982 Re-Release Poster. (the mostly white one)

Guess how many copies I sold at work today... 4! That's pretty good I mean I'm one of 20 cashiers so out of the whole day we probably sold more than 100. Every time I saw someone buy one I was like sweeeEEEETT!!!

I also had that Sign of Spring song stuck in my head but I countered it with the most stupidest song you ever heard and it goes a little something like this. A one and a two and a....

Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
Banana phone
Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
Banana phone

I've got this feeling
so appealing
for us to get together and sing - SING!

Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
Banana phone
Ding dong ding dong ding dong ding
Donana phone

It grows in bunches
I've got my hunches
Its the best
beats the rest
cellular modular
interactivodular

Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
Banana phone
Ping pong ping pong ping pong ping
Ponana phone

Its no baloney
It aint a phony
My cellular
Bananular phone

Don't need quarters
don't need dimes
to call a friend of mine
dont need computer or tv
to have a real good time
I'll call for pizza
I'll call my cat
I'll call the whitehouse, have a chat
I'll place a call around the world
Operator get me beijing jing jing jing

Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
Banana phone
Ying yang ying yang ying yang ying
Yanana phone
It's a real live mama and papa phone
a brother and sister and a dogaphone
a grandpa phone and a grandma phone too - oh yeah
my cellular bananular phone

Banana phone
ring... ring... ring...
Its a phone with appeal (a peel)

Banana phone
ring... ring... ring...
Now you can have your phone and eat it too
Banana phone
ring... ring... ring...
This song drives me .... bananas
Banana phone

The soundtrack is well worth the buy as well, Bruce's score is magnificent and in such dedication to the 1st.

I didn't sell any copies today, I'm ashamed.

Favorite parts:
1. When Bambi and GP bond with each other, I usually skip to that part most often followed by...
2. The part where Bambi freezes out in the meadow and GP kicks some serious ass followed by...
3. Mena getting caught in the trap to the end. My least favorite part is...
4. The groundhog except when Ronno butt's in.

Favorite Character:
Wow I don't know I would have to say GP, not because I like Patrick Stewart but because GP is real mature (except in some parts). He's strong and wise. He kind of reminds me of Morpheus form The Matrix.

Favorite Song:
Not really a fan of the all the songs (because I'm a hard rock guy) that they used but First Sign of Spring is probably the best song in the movie. I really like that they used the original score and some original composure's as well.

Favorite parts:
1. When the Great prince takes Bambi to the "Special Place"/When Bambi has fallen and the Prince sheds one tear.
2. When Bambi freezes on the meadow
3. Bambi's Dream (Absolutely beautiful music makes this sequence)
4. When Bambi is leaving and runs back to the GP and rubs his head against him (That could make even the biggest, meanest biker shed a tear)

Favorite Character:
Bambi, from the moment I saw the original, I fell in love with this little guy. There is something about deer that seems to touch me (which is weird because I do hunt them :S), but Bambi for some reason has a very soft spot in my heart.

Favorite Song:
I'm 80's rock (good ole' AC/DC and all that), but I am a huge country (and Johnny Cash :D) fan. But I would say The ending chorus of "There is life" at the end what my favorite, but the favorite of all is Bruce Broughtons score..it was very powerful and emotional, just like the original.

Favorite Quote:
Bambi: "What were you like?"
GP: "Me? Actually, I was alot like you..."

Most emotional (it is Bambi, everyone has an emotion from it :D):
When Bambi rubs his head against the GP as he leaves and the love you feel between the GP and Bambi after Bambi has fallen.

or

When Bambi turns around and says in a very depressed voice and such a sad look on his face "She's never coming back, is she?" and the GP simply says "No.."

Best Picture... This one :D

eh...I actually can't decided..these seem to be my favs.

Yeah I'm not a fan of country; my friend is but not me. He tortures me by making me listen to it in his Jeep but when it's my turn to drive I crank up: Korn, Rob Zombie, Rammstein, God Smack, Rage Against the Machine (my friend hates) and Metallica. Head banging fun!!! Sometimes I'm in a classical mood so I listen to Zeppelin, CCR, and ZZ Top. Or Sometimes I have to listen to: Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, of course AC/DC and Van Halen (not Van Hagar)! It's funny I don't like country music but I listen to southern rock bands like CCR and Lynyrd Skynyrd... weird.

Anyways...

Those pictures dang ole auhhhh man! :D

Favorite Quotes (forgot that one):
Thumper: I'm a mountain lion.
Bambi: I'm a bear.
Flower: I'm a TURTLE!
 I laughed my ass off on that one. :D

Ronno: Hello PRINCESS!
It's funny cuz he's making fun of himself too.

GP: When I tell you to run you RUN! Never freeze like that! EVER!!!

Porcupine: Kids these days, no respect, no respect at all. What are you looking at you big moose!?!

Favorite Pics: ... Well I'll have to come back to you on that one, I have to go to school now. You know what I think I'm going to listen to some Pearl Jam on the way up. ;)

BTW - David, where you at! ;) I haven't seen him in a while must be busy with work and school. That's not a valid excuse though! ;)

I just got Bambi II for my kids and we have alrady played finding Thumper 30+ times. Otherwise, it was honestly a good movie (Score: 6) and it was the first cheapquel that really had the amibitions to match the original and not just pander to the core kid audience. It was very beautiful animation and keeps to the same themes. However, I thought it still has too much kid focus and the Rono scenes are useless.

 I haven't even played it once yet. Not sure if I'm going to. But they also have a sort Super Mario game on the Bambi II web-site were you have to get Bambi to jump over water traps and get butterflies. Crazy.

Actually if you think about it Ronno does work in the plot because he is the antagonist along with man. I mean you dont necisarily need an antagonist in the plot but in the case of Bambi II it makes it a little more interesting.

Another thing about Ronno he says "these are the boys Stab and Jab." I don't know about the rest of you but I deffenitly don't give my boys weird names. I don't give my boys names at all, they're just there. :P

It looks like Bambi II will sell approx 2m copies in the first week. However, Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Wererabbit is on track to sell just over 1m.

The nuttiness of it all!

As far as I remember, Ronno's "boys" were named Stab and Jab. Dab doesn't even make sense. O_o

That's awfully sad about Wererabbit's sales stats, Netty. I most certainly wish it were the other way around, but hey - people tend to follow the shinier promotional campaigns like a moth to the flame.

Damn right! J/K ;)

I thought for sure Wallace and Gromit would do just as good if not better than Bambi II. My dad and I are Wallace and Gromit fans and to prove to you that I'm not one of those people, I will go out and buy a copy of Curse of the Wererabbit for my dad. That is, right after I'm done with my speech class.

ok, favorite scene: All the movie :P
serious, is the best sequel I ever saw before n_n

now, something really funny happened here the 2 times I went to the theaters to watch it: the parents entered as if they had an "Oh excelent...another kids movie...hoorray  " but all the movie they were pretty concetrated on it and even told theirs sons all the Bambi story, and at thge end some kids were a little boder but all the parents had a smile on their faces and that glimmer on their eyes like if the child who were once had saw the movie n_n

isn´t that just priceless?

I rewatched the original tonight (Seen Bambi II about 100 times :D) and I have to say, the original still sticks out to me much more. The emotion and power are much higher (I think still due to the age of the film). Don't get me wrong, I love Bambi II, but it can't top (and I doubt anything ever will) Walts original masterpiece "Bambi" :D
