It seems like Segel and Stoller not only love The Muppets, they fully understand what makes them tick. It's getting terrific early reviews from critics and fans. I really hope this film makes a killing at the box office. I know I'll be seeing it a few times at least.
You know, I just read that one of the big movie sites was projecting that Muppets would make around $60 million. Now I realize that the past 6 films didn't make as much, but I really feel without seeing it myself that this one will end up being the biggest money maker of the franchice and easily past $100 million. Time will tell, but I get a good feeling this new filmis going to do great.

a reminder you can earn double reward points opening weekend on 'THE MUPPETS'...instead of up to 200 points (4 tickets @ 50 points)....up to 400 (100 per ticket)!

I might see it, but I doubt I could get my dad to see it.....I usually drag him with me to see movies. :p I just wish it was G....there's no real reason for it to be PG....and I hate the "Fart shoes" thing....that says they are trying to be like Shrek!
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

The joke there is that fart jokes are below the Muppets. Fozzie's jokes are meant to be terrible, so Segal and the other filmmakers feel the same way you do about fart jokes.

Anyway, I think this will do really well. I imagine it will open #2 behind Twilight's second weekend and then leap into #1 the following week, much like what Tangled did.

It's quite impressive how many people didn't get the joke.

I'm planning on seeing this on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it because I haven't seen a Muppets film in years. And after reading/hearing how great it is, I'm excited to see it.

Sad face? 97% is pretty fantastic--honestly whenever I see something rated 100% perfect I get a little suspicious

I'm seeing this later with a friend. Super excited!!

Saw it today! I loved it! It was very nice and refreshing to see the Muppets on the screen again! Many parts had very nice homages to previous movies, and I loved it all! Can't wait to see it again!

No need to be sad. Don't get me wrong, I want to see the movie so bad, it's just that it's no surprise when 3 people gave this film negative reviews. Even if Armond White did not review this movie.

I just got back from The Muppets and I loved it! It was so original and Jason Segal's script was hilarious. I thought him and Amy Adams (who was wonderful) would steal the spotlight, but oh no! The muppets definitely had the most screen time. The songs were excellent, and I loved all of the celebrity cameos. Definitely seeing this again!

Wow! This is really getting good reviews. I really want to see this now, but too bad I work five days out of the week with my job. (And I do not want to deal with noisy audiences to see it over the weekend).

Saw it and thought it was great! However, there are two things that felt strange about it:
1. That Jason Segel's brother is a muppet. Umm, can someone explain that one to me?
and...
2. The fact that the new Muppet show, "Muppets Tonight" that ran from '96 to '98 was not acknowledged.
Overall, good movie. Saw a lot of great trailers for upcoming movies.

Oh, and I almost forgot...
The new Toy Story short "Small Fry" is great! Loved it.

I'm hoping overall this is a return to form for the Muppets, with more movies, and perhaps a rebooted TV show? Seems that since Disney acquired them in the 90s, they kind of let them go and forgot about them.

Check out my review http://awesomereviewer.tumblr.com/post/ ... ets-review

For those of you who don't wanna go to the site:

The Muppets are an American treasure, they have entertained so many generations of kids and families. When I heard that they were going to be in a new movie I was ecstatic, I couldn’t believe it. And with each new trailer my excitement rose. However, one thing bothered me, would they be able to keep the classic Muppet appeal in this new age of toilet and more cynical humor? Well I am happy to say they did.

The basic plot summary: “With the help of three fans, The Muppets must reunite to save their old theater from a greedy oil tycoon.”

The story is great, it’s about finding your one true place, whether it be with the one you love or a family that loves you. It is handled with finesse and the good old Muppet charm. Throughout the movie there is the presence of an emotional connection with these characters. They are fun, entertaining, and most of all their love. The story does dip a bit in the middle, but the end really makes up for it.

The characters are all here and just as lovable as ever, with the inclusion if a few new ones. The new characters are great especially the new Muppet, Walter. He is a character that is very likable that inspires others to do the best they can. He is a great edition to the Muppet family. Jason Segel, Gary, is great even though his acting could use some work. Amy Adams, Mary, is just as gorgeous and amazing as ever. I could not picture anyone else besides her doing the role and she was a joy to watch. And the villain, Tex Richman , is great. He is underhanded and the threat, while at the same time being really funny, going toe to toe with the Muppets.

Jason Segel gets some more credit for actually writing an amazing and funny script for “The Muppets.” The writing is fantastic and we get a sense that he really loves these characters and what they have to offer. The script is intelligent with smart witty humor, classic Muppet charm, mixed in with a lot of heart. I had a smile on my face the whole time watching.

The musical numbers are great too. The songs are catchy, fun, entertaining, and at times very funny. I am a huge fan of the songs in this movie especially Life’s a Happy Song. The melody, the lyrics are perfect. Party of One and Man or Muppet are great too. Hopefully they get Oscar noms or even a win.

Overall “The Muppets” is a great movie. The humor is smart and witty. The movie is written so well with lovable characters and great performances it escalates it to a whole other level. The songs are fantastic and the movie has a lot of heart and charm. I give it a strong 4.5/5, smart, funny, well written, and overall great entertainment.

I highly recommend people go see “The Muppets.” It will satisfy long term fans and captivate new ones. It is just pure entertainment and one of the best movies you can go see during the holiday season. There only very few moments when I didn’t have smile or wasn’t laughing. Possible Oscars include song and hopefully a writing nom.
