That artwork is old art created for the og movie, and says nothing about the style of the final product. Dont believe anything until they A, flat out say its hand drawn, or b, show a trailer.
The only thing that would make me argue otherwise is that Naveen’s skin looks slightly lighter than in the last movie.

And since this is the same Disney that made a controversial mistake of accidentally making Tiana’s skin lighter in Ralph Breaks The Internet, there is the possibility this could also be from the prologue of the show before we see a 1-year time jump into where Tiana begins.

For what it’s worth, while waiting in line for signings at the Pixar/Disney Animation booth yesterday, I spoke to an attendee who said he works for The Walt Disney Company and he said that Tiana will be hand-drawn animated. And when I asked if he really meant that and not “3D animation that looks like 2D like Wish, Far From The Tree, Feast, and Paperman,” he said “no, it’s actually gonna be fully 2D/hand-drawn animated.”

He said he was trying to make his way up The Walt Disney Company to work at Walt Disney Animation Studios as a promise of a dying wish he made to his mother before she passed away and that he’s fighting for animation to be better treated at Disney, even the old style of classic traditional hand-drawn animation as well.

So, take that with what you will.

We’ll find out in 2 minutes under 4 hours.

This is who that TWDC worker is, BTW: https://www.instagram.com/brandontreakl ... BjaHE4OQ==.

It seems that there isn't any substantial news about the series.

Well folks, still no answer on if Tiana’s gonna be hand-drawn animated or not, but Yvette Nicole Brown said it’s now in production for Disney+ and Joyce Sherri said that the series will explore Tiana discovering a bigger world, very new and different magic, and that she’ll learn what it means to be a leader as the princess of Maldonia, which in short means we’re going to Maldonia in the series.

But it was a good panel.

Well, thanks to The Wrap’s Drew Taylor, we now seem to have our answer on what the animation style of the Disney+ Tiana series will be.

Image

But I guess we should have seen this coming since it would be speculated to not be fully hand-drawn last year.

Image

Then again, Tiana could have been the one supposed project Jennifer Lee teased as “further exploration into how hand-drawn animation works alongside CG animation, noting one of her filmmakers is already at work on such a project” which may as well be Tiana: https://ew.com/movies/disney-100-year-a ... -a-studio/.

Well, I guess we can’t really judge until we see what the footage looks like, and if the way it’s executed is like X-Men ‘97 and PaperMan rather than Wish or Feast. But I can’t lie when I say I’m a little bummed out about this choice, though now we know why Eric Goldberg at D23 in 2022 said Tiana’s animation style was under wraps at the time.

Guess it wasn’t talked about again at this year’s D23 because they knew if they said Tiana wasn’t hand-drawn, they’d be booed on stage and really feel hated for betraying the fans.

I’m sorry, everyone.

I’m sorry, Sotiris, Fareb, Kyle, JTurner, DisneyFan09, DisneyJedi, PatchOfBlue, Aviator, Disney’s Divinity, Thumper_93, Patricier21, and robster16.

I failed you all. I let you all down. And I couldn’t help you win. I was so hopeful that things would change. But I was wrong. No matter what I believed in, I was so wrong.

Who’s to say that even if The Animation Guild strikes starting tomorrow and shuts all of everything down that they’ll change Disney’s minds and make the series hand-drawn fully? That may also be a long-shot and there’s the possibility that Disney could use this strike to cancel Tiana as a middle finger to the guild, just like WB used the 2 strikes last year to cancel Coyote Vs. ACME and recently cancelled Fixed ahead of the negotiations with The Animation Guild.

And who’s to say even The Animation Guild would want to force Hollywood to bring hand-drawn animation back when they today congratulated SAG-AFTRA on getting a deal with an AI firm for voice replications after a hypocritical strike against AI last year.

I guess this is the end. No matter how hard we try, it’s not coming back. Unless a miracle from the sky can make things happen, hand-drawn animation will never come back to Disney, not even once more before this decade ends.

It’s over.

That's okay, D23ExpoVisitor25, you shouldn't apologize. I actually hope you are okay because I know how much you wanted it to be true. That sucks.

I always speculated it would be similar to Far From the Tree:

I don’t know if I’d say it looks like Far From The Tree since that’s like Spider-Verse but just as extreme in movement and camera frame rate.

If anything if Drew is saying it’s less extreme, it could look like Paperman.

Even if Tiana might be a hybrid, it could mean anything. It could mean that the characters themselves might be handdrawn and the backgrounds are not. We need to wait and see. But either way, I don't support giving up on Disney either. I didn't think they would go back to 2D animation after they laid off everyone. As much as I tried to convince myself otherwise. Yet they announced a 2D training program two years ago. Granted it was mainly to do Once Upon A Studio, but that DID make me hopeful.

On the other hand, even if Disney DOES decide, it WILL take time for them to rebuild up their studio. They're basically starting from scratch from what I understand. Then of course, there's the issue of the CEOs still being risk averse. That, too, is an issue that needs to be confronted with. I can't say it's likely either of these issues will be resolved anytime soon, but I can also say this: never say never. Things can change.

In the meantime, if you want 2D animation to return, just support whatever 2D animated films are coming here. Should any of them succeed, maybe we'll see a change in the winds. The Boy and the Heron getting the Oscar alone wasn't going to signal an instant reversal to 2D. Even if they decided to it would still take time.

My stance: I'm not giving up on Disney ever doing 2D again, but I'm not obsessing over it either. I'm just supporting 2d animation and believing that one day things will change.

You’re right, Turner. Maybe I should still have an inkling of hope that at the end of the decade, say 2029, Disney will have one hand-drawn animated movie in theaters prior to the end of the 2020’s.

If it helps, I did find a video with Jennifer Lee being interviewed about that question. She did say, "Never say never." That said, she also doesn't reveal anything that we don't already know, but... take it as is.

It’s gotta be Paperman-style animation. There’s no other way around it. Especially since Drew said it’s like a less complex (or did he say complicated) version of Spider-Verse’s animation style, so that would have to mean it’s Paperman-style animated since that blended hand-drawn aesthetics with a 3D-look well.

People will be unsure cuz Paperman was so expensive, but I feel like there’s no other way of describing the style of the Tiana series.

Oh no, not them bringing the ugly af style from Wish to this show

It will most likely look like What If from Marvel

I hope this ends up being a movie like Moana 2, Tiana deserves the spotlight

You wanna make Tiana a movie? Then make sure Moana 2 doesn’t fall short of a billion and you’ll get your Tiana movie with more money thrown into it to make it hand-drawn. Either you swallow your pride and complaining about Moana 2 to make it a hit, or you don’t get Tiana as a movie at all. Choose wisely. There will be no second chances after this.

Also, no, I believe the style will look like Paperman. They said it’s less complex than Spider-Verse. So it can’t be Wish or Far From The Tree. It has to be Paperman.

Oh god shut up, you dont know how box office works

The entire Disney fanbase could see a movie 5 times each and a movie could still be a massive flop.

Movies are succesful because the general audience supports them, fanbases mean shit in the end (except Opening day and fan screenings)

I've seen movies 5/6 times to "help" the movie, I've been with many friends to boost the box office, and those movies still were a massive flop...
