After seeing Inside Out, I do think The Good Dinosaur will be the more prestigious film after all. Although I'm pretty sure the reason why this movie is coming out later closer to the awards is because it took longer to fix.

Inside Out was ironically light on the emotion, and winners tend to have a bit of depth to them.

Personal preference of course, but I wasn't fond of Merida's design. It was horrendous.

Either way, I wonder if the film will enhance the caveman stereotype or if it will give a more realistic depiction of early humans. Though I believe the former.

Pushed back a year and a half, late trailer, and the film is up for a MAJOR butt-whooping from Charlie Brown and friends.
If anything, I actually think that shows how much they care about making sure the film comes out well. If the characters were completely re-written and their personalities changed, it makes sense to switch the voice actors to better fit the new characters. This isn't unusual in animation. William H Macy actually recorded lines for Marlin in Finding Nemo before they re-wrote the character. Ditto Owen Wilson as Pacha in The Emperor's New Groove. And Kristin Chenoweth as Rapunzel in Tangled.

I do agree that recasting the film seems like a good call, since Pixar really seems dedicated to starting from scratch to make this a winner. I liked the original cast, but it's Pixar, they're hardly ever wrong on their voice acting.

I am concerned about them being able to deliver a quality package in time for November, though.

It reminds me of the French poster for Brother Bear.

I wonder what Steve Jobs would have made of this given his views on Brother Bear.

Well, from what I recall, he called it "embarrassing."

He certainly wasn't wrong. People can hate on Chicken Little and Home on the Range all they want, I'd watch them over Brother Bear any day.

Still the one thing Brother Bear did get right were its posters, so I am not horribly offended by The Good Dinosaur using similar imagery.

If they are using similar imagery as Brother Bear for logos and posters, that's on the marketing team. It's not a big deal. It's better than Rapunzel having the DreamWorks smirk on the Tangled posters.

I'm one of the few who actually likes Brother Bear for what it is. It's definitely super flawed, and the Phil Collins songs are cringe-inducingly horrible (especially those lyrics, yuck!), but there's something about it. There was definitely a lot of potential and it's too bad it didn't live up to it.

From the research I did, I saw he called them flops. But embarrassing? I know "Brother Bear" received majorly bad reviews, but I wonder why he called it embarrassing?

Why?

I'm one of the minorities who actually has nothing against "Home on the Range" and thought it was a cute and fun movie. It's been a while since I saw it, but I never thought it deserved that much hate.

Why do you consider it to be flawed?

Okay, I just had a really disturbing thought about The Good Dinosaur.

The movie is already facing fierce competition against the Peanuts movie. I'm sure of this, because in addition to the familiarity aspect of the Peanuts brand, they've already launched their advertising campaign at Target stores, that will surely get people prepared for the movie's premiere.

But The Good Dinosaur, which JUST began releasing trailers, and hasn't launched any merchandise yet, will not be the only dinosaur movie to come out this year. Jurassic World has already been raking in a lot of cash since last week. And with THAT film's own familiarity aspect, is set to challenge Inside Out's own performance.

So my question is, will the moviegoing public be willing to see TWO dinosaur movies in one year?

If it's good, sure. Multiple superhero movies can be successful in the same year, so if this is a good movie, Jurassic World should have no impact on it's success. If it fails it will be because mass audiences didn't like the execution.

It looks okay. Truth be told, I don't like how the characters look against the backdrops. It's a real clash of styles, there.

Actually. Jurassic World might boost this up.

Think about it, I've been hearing a lot of people saying that 5-6 year olds are going to Jurassic World, so the world of Dinos has already been introduced to them on the big screen. They;re probably gonna be hungry for more movies and Parents will take them to the Good Dinosaur. Especially since that's their target demographic.

So Jurassic World actually boosts up it's likeliness to do good. Now if the movie fails, it's probably because of early reviews and negativity surrounding it. Also maybe it would have done better if the release dates were swapped between Inside out and it. You never know. But I don't think it'll fail. Stamp on it "From the makers of Inside Out" and they should be fine. What might hinder it is the horrible character designs, which look like a scheme more fit for a pre-school age tv show, not an all ages film.

on the other hand we could end up with another We're Back scenario: an animated movie about dinosaurs released the same year after the first Jurassic Park...it bombed. :|
