Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
The article states it's a wedding dress, but it also says there are several versions, including one for coming down a marble staircase and one for dancing and walking.
So I think it's not her wedding dress, but the dress she wears to the ball? Why would they need so many versions for her wedding dress? Wedding scenes are usually pretty short.

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I think they mean ball gown instead of wedding dress; the daily mail is notorious for bad grammar and spelling, so I would't be too worried. Pretty convinced it's her transformation dress.
Was thinking visually, it would be wonderful if they did the collapse of her dress as they did in Slipper & the Rose; that was a brilliant scene done ever so well. I can't seem to find the scene anywhere, I don't know if anyone has it ?

Is this what you are referring to (around 6:55)?atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Was thinking visually, it would be wonderful if they did the collapse of her dress as they did in Slipper & the Rose; that was a brilliant scene done ever so well. (Side note: Why haven't I seen this movie yet? It looks like the perfect combination of costume drama and fairytales.)

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
Oh no I'm glad nothing really bad happened!
By the way, it is her wedding dress for certain. Lily was quoted saying, "I wore this wedding dress for about 20 seconds before I walked past the heater and burned some of it." Unless they even misquote people.
And yes, that Slipper and the Rose (which I have to buy) scene is really great, one of the best in the film.

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I really would not put it past the daily mail to misquote. They are just that crap.
But I can't believe you haven't seen the film Warm Regards! It is just wonderful; my favourite retelling of Cinderella. I can't tell if it is the same scene, as it isn't available in my country. But if it is the part where she is running down the stairs, and with every turn she makes her dress alters slightly bag to her normal clothes, then that is indeed the scene! (On a side note, I just purchased the film on bluray and it looks beyond lush and stunning, I can whole heartedly recommend it!)

But the report also mentioned the dress having "three miles of hemming" which sounds like a train of a wedding gown and not something you'd have on a ball gown.

I'm also sure it's her wedding dress. The wedding scene must be longer in this film.
Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
Well the scenario sounds exactly like the ball moment to be honest. Still not convinced it's her wedding gown, unless they have decided to feature it much more so than in the original film. Seems silly to have two 'big dress' moments in the film.

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I for one am interested and excited that there will be two big dress moments (and by the way, the D23 expo said this movie will be very opulent and having lots of great costumes sounds like that!) and that the "happily ever after" will be longer! More beauty, more love, more story, more great Cinderella stuff to watch and enjoy!

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
I'm confused though. Why would the actor playing her father be there in the first place when he's supposed to be dead according to the film's synopsis? Unless the actor was just there watching them film or maybe he heard about the fire and was commenting on it later on.

Oh yea he is dead according to the synopsis. Well your guess is as good as any. I think it's actors being there for some scenes and not others. He was there according to Lily James, it says he cheered her up with his comment just after the accident happened.

Surprise, surprise: it's more faithful to the 1950 film than I thought. That description sounds great! I'm really excited for this one.

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
Wow thank you disneyprincess11!!!
I am ever ever more excited! I can't believe the major live-action version of my favorite villainess and the major live-action version of my favorite story and characters (and special effects, Disney dust!) will be seen by me so soon. I love hearing the costumes will be big and the the pumpkin to carriage scene will be big enough to even be funny.
But this is coming too soon!!! It's like a year from now away!
You know, this is random, but for a long while I have thought Meryl Streep would have been a fantastic evil stepmother. I also hope they will do some thing like Maleficent's "Once Upon a Dream", with "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes". I also hope for "So This is Love" which is actually the name of the song the conductor plays at the ball in the animated film, but Branagh ordered a new song for their dance. I am hoping for it to be great and even better than "So This is Love".

How did you figure that? And did you really mean it was a surprise or were you being sarcastic?Old Fish Tale wrote:Surprise, surprise: it's more faithful to the 1950 film than I thought.

I doubt there will be a trailer with 'Maleficent'. This was probably just for that event.
No, I'm really surprised! I always thought they'd get rid of the mice... And I can't wait for this film too! I hope they show us the stepmother and the stepsisters soon.Disney Duster wrote:And did you really mean it was a surprise or were you being sarcastic?

Re: New Cinderella Adaptation by Disney
Oh I'm glad you're excited for it!! But I didn't read any mention of the mice. Just that one description saying the fairy godmother was "armed" with some mice, from a long time ago, not in this new article. Do you know more about the mice than I do? I hope the mice are featured prominently as animals Cinderella befriends and cares for. Same with the birds. And it would keep in line with that image we have of her riding her horse. She clearly loves animals!
I also realized they could use "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" in the film, too, because the fairy godmother could sing the magic words. If they have magic words that aren't Bibbidi Bobbdi Boo that would be a glaring omission.

Omg omg omg omg thank you so much Old Fish Tale! Now I am so, so, so, so extremely even more excited!!!!! It really will be extremely faithful to the original!!!
It sounds perfect! Perfect! The mice even get their clothes! Omgosh! I can't even believe they did that!
Oh man, so I loved reading every single thing except two. That is that the fairy godmother will transform into something that looks too much like Glinda the Good Witch, and that Cinderella will wear her hair down. I feel like her hair being up, above or atop her head, is one of the more iconic, identifying parts of her character, so I'm bothered they won't keep that. Unless it's partially up, above or atop her head, maybe something like Belle's...here's to hoping. But her hair being up, above or atop her head, is also what helped her look like a different person and disguise her from her stepfamily, and made it less sure who she was to the prince after she transformed back, you know? I also had written to Kenneth Branagh about her dress being silver in the original animated movie, not blue, but that doesn't bug me that's it's blue. I just hope my letter didn't make him wanna change it from silver to blue and put her hair down just to be different, or to get back at me for suggesting to him what to do. : (

Interesting they are staying so faithful to the film; I wonder if Mary Blair art has inspired the sets as well ? Fingers crossed.
I hope her working outfit is the same as the film, would love it if they kept it the same. And Lady Tremaine's iconic purplish/red dress makes an appearance.
Excited to see the trailer for it! (Still apprehensive though, I don't want to get too excited just in case).
