That trailer was really awesome. It left you with excitement and questions (but really though, "Let down your hair" is really pushing it). Like someone else said a few pages ago (or the last thread), Disney could advertise this in different ways instead of changing the title. Adventure/Dreamworks-esque for boys, Romance/Princessy for girls, and Nostalgia for adults, teens, fans. I still don't like the title, btw.
I'm sure the phrase "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair" will be in there somewhere. It's the classic "Rapunzel" line!
I like Mandy Moore's voice. It sounds so...fairytale-ish, if you know what I mean. Donna Murphy sounds like an old school villan (Grimhilde, Lady Tremaine, Maleficent), and Zach Levi sounds great!
I think it will be a fun, endearing, and romantic film.

Rapunzel
robster16, sorry to ad yet another thing, but do you agree that the name Rapunzel doesn't even sound girly? Like, if you didn't already know the story, you could say "Prince Rapunzel" or "The Bandit Rapunzel" and it wouldn't sound wrong. So little boys wouldn't think Rapunzel sounded like a princess' name.
And if someone really doesn't think the CGI looks painterly...really, pay close attention, especially to the flowers at the window. They look like zooming in on painted, even water-colored flowers.

I haven't been on this site for a quite a while , since my beloved Mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer , and following the diagnosis , I was her sole carer until she passed away just last week.
Have there been any sketches of the character of the Wicked Witch posted by Disney?

Deco King, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I was at Disney's Hollywood Studios yesterday, and these posters are in the animation building. So, when we think that some people don't know about the movie coming out, more do than we probably know. But, I think that one of these was there last time I was there, which was quite a while ago.

Hey everybody, I'm new here
Although I've tried registering a bunch of times and it never works... but! I'm here now.
Anyways, this latest teaser trailer has me really excited for Tangled. I wasn't sure about Mandy Moore, but she sounds wonderful! And, it DOES look "painterly"... at least as much as CG possibly can at this point... makes me excited for the future of animation.
blackcauldron - the poster on the right is SO gorgeous. But I can't believe that they're not moving faster with this name change. Like, if you're going to change the name, then CHANGE THE NAME ALREADY!! Stop confusing everyone. The average person at Hollywood Studios is still under the impression that "Rapunzel" is coming soon. Not good.
Deco King, I'm very sorry about your loss
Also, am I being stupid? I can find for the life of me where to edit my avatar. Shouldn't that be under "Profile"?

That changed all of a sudden apparently. In the movie preceding HoND, Pocahontas John Smith did not have facial hair, though that should have been appropriate, since that's more like how the real John Smith looked. Some early concept-designs of this character does show him that way, and even with red hair! I'm still puzzled why he ended up blond and clean-shaven.enigmawing wrote:I just made the old to new comparison because the subject of alcohol seems to be much more taboo in recent times . . . while I do see them still depicting alcohol without issue I don't see them allowing characters to get drunk anymore, especially the good guys. Another example is Tarzan . . . they could let him hold the drink that Clayton gave him but he couldn't actually drink it.
Heh, and remember when the Disney heroes weren't allowed to have facial hair? I know that changed with Hunchback but I still think of it every time I see Flynn.
A bit off-topic, I know, but "Tangled" is all about hair too, after all!

My sincere condolences Deco King. I did not see your post before I typed my response on this thread.

Some info from blueskydisney.blogspot.com regarding Rapunzel/Tangled and it's trailers:
The shot zooming in on the tower is a pre-teaser for the Princess and the Frog DVD. The leaked trailer was for test marketing only. The trailer that will appear with Toy Story 3 is different.
another person posted this:
Yeup. The trailer that got leaked was an early trailer, not the final one. All those dumb tag lines and the pop music is getting re-worked.
But no promises that they wont get worked back in. Marketing carries a big dumb stick at Disney, despite the filmmakers themselves recognizing just how stupid the trailer is.
Fear not, the movie is great. I just think its a shame we have to defend the movie in SPITE of the trailer.
interesting and hopefull. I hope they continue the line of the pre-teaser from the PaTF dvd, because that sparked enthusiasm among fans and the general public so far, after everyone being depressed after the title change...

No offence, but are you sure this info is reliable?robster16 wrote:Some info from blueskydisney.blogspot.com regarding Rapunzel/Tangled and it's trailers:

Make that two. While I'm impressed with the richness of the visuals and the voices heard (does anyone else think Mandy Moore sounds a bit like soft-spoken Teri Hatcher?), I too fail to see anything painterly, or hand-drawn-esque in the new teaser.Disney's Divinity wrote:Hate to be a downer, but...the trailer doesn't impress me. As for what's been addressed here, I don't think it's "painterly." The funny thing is I've never really cared about whether the movie is "painterly" or not (that was more Disney Duster and several others' thing); I just don't think it is "painterly." It's nice CGI, as I said, but I don't think it's anymore "painterly" than the backgrounds in the Tinkerbell films. And to give it praise that, in my personal opinion, is undeserved is over-reaching to me.
But, on the bright side for people already hopelessly in love with this film regardless, at least this is only one voice of discontent.
And isn't it funny how when people dared to criticize the movie based on what we saw in that first trailer, it was "only a trailer", but the new one is suddenly much more than that?

Well people were criticizing the story that the marketing seemed to be going with with the first trailer. And it had only 2 seconds of completed animation from what I see, while this new teaser is all completed animation. And has come out all "official" like, so it really is "much more than that" I would say.Mooky wrote: And isn't it funny how when people dared to criticize the movie based on what we saw in that first trailer, it was "only a trailer", but the new one is suddenly much more than that?
But it still is only a trailer. Though we know how the visuals are going to be now. And what the actual marketing strategy for the movie will probably be (though this may still turn out to be wrong) And this teaser won't affect how we'll take the movie itself probably.
Also it seems you have a different definition of painterly

Well...my opinion on it is it could be true.....but take with a grain of salt as that's what im doing....because this could be new unoffficial offical info...so who knows at this point....I wouldn't say thats set in stone until Disney says otherwise...so right I guess that info I would say is a rumor and could changeDisneyFan09 wrote:Why won't anyone answer my question?

Thank you!!ajmrowland wrote:Welcome, SWillie!
And I agree with you, upupandaway... It most certainly looks painterly. The side by side comparison of the concept art with the final shot, in my opinion, is proof of that.
To those of you who DON'T think it's "painterly," can I ask what exactly you were expecting?
