How's it feel reviewing the movie THREE times now, Kelvin? I must say, you get better and better at it. In 20 years you'll have written your fifty-first review of the movie on home video in whatever format it
I can't wait for Review #4. Hopefully by then they'll have finally included all the laserdisc material, a Kathryn Beaumont & (Insert Disney Animator or Historian) commentary, and a longer documentary to complement "Reflections on Alice".

Since Tim Burton's film is being released in June, I doubt there's a blu-ray for this one coming that soon.
The only thing I find odd about the release-aside from the obvious and the new features-is that several menus are noted to have small alterations.
What could've held them back from keeping the motif of the old Peeks menu? What made them drop the animated transitions? I guess maybe the new features? The setup menu is the same.

I think they've realized that most people don't like the animated transitions. I'm glad to see them go.
I'm not. Most people say they take too much time, but if your watching a DVD, your not exactly pressed for time are you? I like them because they create a more cohesive experience in navigation, and if you dont like them, you can just skip past most of them.
Anything that draws you further into the world the disc is trying to convey is alright with me!
I think they're just annoying hahaha. I want to get to the good stuff. Maybe I'm just impatient, but that's my take. I love how they set up their blu-rays with the columns so you can easily see where you are and where you've been without taking a million years to find some obscure bonus feature.

Wait for Dumbo - they've thrown all that out of the window.

Yeah I heard about that. Maybe that's more of a Diamond/Platinum edition thing?
What a darling piece of Disney Advertising; could anyone say when it was from ? Katheryn sounds very much like she did in Peter Pan; so could it be from around this era ?

Early/mid-50's, shown during Disneyland and Mickey Mouse Club, most likely.
I've read from a few sources that those Alice Jell-o commercials were probably from 1956-57.
Of course it's great hearing Sterling Holloway and Kathryn Beaumont. I'm guessing the Mock Turtle was voiced by Bill Thompson, am I close on that? And does anyone know if the Gryphon is voiced by either Ed Wynn or Hans Conreid, it's been driving me crazy for a while.
*EDIT*
Oh, and you can see colored cels of both the Gryphon and the Mock Turtle on this page
Albert: This review's the last time I review the movie itself, which is why I wanted to make it count. If I end up reviewing the inevitable Blu-ray, I'm just going to copy and paste the movie portion and probably the carried-over features, too.
As for the Jell-O commercial, I wonder if those Gryphon and Mock Turtle designs were based on ones originally intended for the film itself or if they were designed specifically for the ad. Either way, they fit in very well with the film's look. It makes me want to see other deleted Wonderland/Looking Glass characters Disneyfied, especially the Lion and the Unicorn.
Anyway, thanks for the comments, Escapay and atlanticaunderthesea!
Finally got around to watching Alice tonight and found a "nice" surprise. Disc 1 of the set was bad. It looks like the glue that puts the DVD "layers" together wasn't applied right. Also a nice deep scratch on the outer edge of the disc. I noticed that the outer edges of the DVD seems sticky. Maybe the glue holding the disc together leaked out when it was pressed?
Sadly I didn't check the discs out when I bought it, and I no longer have my Target receipt. Will Disney do anything about this, and what would I have to do?
If not I guess I'll end up buying another copy.
UPDATE: Took a chance and took the movie back to Target. They were extremely nice, and offered to exchange it. I was very surprised, but glad they allowed it. No trouble at all after explaining what had happened to the lady at customer service.
