I love the 1 on the bottom of the spine! I wish they would number our Platinums/Diamonds - I'm all about having "the complete set"....it would generate more sales, I believe.

OMG HEY the smoke on that cover forms the letters "S" and "W" for Snow White or SneeuwWitje.
Well Amy, remember the potion the apple was brewed in had smoke coming from it. It could also identify with the smoke from the magic mirror.
It's better, or makes more sense, than the Disney dust coming from the apple on the 2001 DVD cover...
But yea, it should be hand-drawn and have some characters...the dwarfs and Snow White, the queen and Snow White, or just Snow White.
Glad we're not getting that cover. Then Cinderella's would just be a slipper. Disney fans deserve lots of great art, not just one object...

Okay..so I was always complaining that Holland gets the same covers as America, and the other European countries (Like France and Germany) get the nice covers, and now we DO get another cover, and it's awful.
First, why does the smoke forms the letters "S" and "W"? In Holland Snow White is called Sneeuwwitje, which is, unlike Snow White, one word/name.
Second, the apple looks WAY too CGI!
Third, I want some characters! At least one. Snow White maybe, behind the apple or something. Or, even better, the witch!
Fourth, The background has to be darker, that makes it more mysterious I think.
Fifth, and last, If SW is a apple, does that mean that Cinderella will be a slipper, and TLM a shell? Hmm..
EDIT: I just discovered that this cover will be a shop exclusive. So we will still be getting the other cover. Not that I really liked that one, but it's better than this empty one. BTW, I'm getting the dvd release.

Whoa! It's only a web site. I understand you're excited for this release, but for the ZILLIONTH time, as I've told you over and over again- the Platinum Fall release titles DO NOT get web site's until mid to late August. Last summer the Sleeping Beauty PE had it's site up and running sometime between august 11th and the 25th.Deco King wrote:Well here we are at as we say 06/08/2009 and as you say 08/05/2009 , and still no Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs website on www.disneygo.com - the First and Fairest Of Them All ought to have it's own website after all without the little Princess Snow White there would be no Walt Disney Company!!

I actually think the previous cover with the princess franchise Snow White is awful and has NOTHING to do with the actual film.Deco King wrote:I think it's a ghastly cover what's to like about it? The Apple looks CGI no characters at all it's awful!
At least this new cover has a bit of class, just like the real film.
I'm glad I don't have to hide the dvd cover anymore when people walk in, because it gives them a wrong impression about the film.
Now it's presented as the masterpiece it is, and not some cheap childish cartoon.

How can it represent the film very well when it only shows one object?
Or the characters are all in shadow?
What, we never saw close-ups of the characters, without lots of darkness? What, we never saw their actual faces, in good light, in the films?
You can do classy and still have characters that you can actually see in the light. Because that's what the original movies had, actually.
As fans of these films, we deserve to see good art of more than just one object, or more than just a black silhouette of a character!

I'd have to disagree that studios must use full-color artwork of characters on their DVD covers. Using an iconic image from a film on the cover can be extremely effective and classy. For example, the outer box of The Lion King's gift set has Rafiki's drawing of Simba against a black background. A non-Disney example would be the use of the Batman logo for the cover of the Batman (1989) DVD. There are times when showing major characters on the cover works, but covers like that are frequently too cluttered for my taste.
The same discussion could be had for poster art. The teaser poster gives a sense of tone, style, and one main image to take away. Everything else is left for the film to reveal. Theatrical posters show much more and can take away from the mystery of the film. Both have their place; I just tend to come down on the side of more minimalist artwork on posters and DVD covers.

Yeah that would be a nice cover.....but too bad it won't happen because it's owned by Disney.....and Disney never will allow it..because its Disney were talking about.....now if there was a golden retriever pup or a taco bell dog then that would be differCampbellzSoup wrote:Oh please that cover is freaking awful with that apple...so cheap looking
THIS drawn in a more modern style would be amazing:

What total garbage!! If you think the Dutch cover is "classy" your aesthetic appreciation is clearly not on the same planet! I have constantly criticised the new cover art as anyone who reads this forum will know!Marky_198 wrote:I actually think the previous cover with the princess franchise Snow White is awful and has NOTHING to do with the actual film.Deco King wrote:I think it's a ghastly cover what's to like about it? However this Dutch cover is totally ghastly!! The CGI looking Apple is impersonal , and bears no similarity to the apple in movie which after all is a hand drawn beautifully animated fairy tale - the Dutch cover is designed by - or looks as if it is - a robot!

You mean like this?Disney Duster wrote:How can it represent the film very well when it only shows one object?

I think the reasoning that a poster or cover has to have every character in the movie is what's wrong with the posters these days. They're terribly generic and look awful. This at least looks original.
Because the movie itself is hand drawn, the cover has to be too? It's just an apple, for god's sake.Deco King wrote: What total garbage!! I think it's better to leave something to the imagination.Disney Duster wrote:How can it represent the film very well when it only shows one object?

These films are so classic and well known, a classy cover like the ones above really do the film justice in my opinion.
The childish franchise covers are really misleading.
The whole look of the film and characters is different.
And of course you see the characters in the film clearly, but what we see on some previous covers is not at all what you see in the film, so that's much worse.
