Yes. D23 is the official club for Disney fans. They are putting on the Expo in September. If you're going, you should think of joining the club, as you get discounted admission, plus a bunch of awesome freebies, and the opportunity to go to many events. If you look back in the posts, goofystitch pretty much sells the club (he convinced me to join, haha).
Check out their website. It explains a lot! http://d23.disney.go.com/index.html

^I donno.... I don't think I'm going to join. I'm only going one day probably to the convention. Since it's pretty pricey to join and also pricey for the convention.
I saw there's another Disney convention in Anaheim this month and they're having Jodi Benson and Paige O'Hara there! So I do want to go to that but it costs even more.... blah.

Poody, are you talking about NFFC? I'm going for the dinner with Page and Jodi. I'm excited. My boyfriend got them for me as a surprise because I'm a big fan of The Little Mermaid.
Arielle, your plan sounds great! My boyfriend and I plan on getting our tickets right at 3 as well. We have dinner reservations at Blue Bayou at 4, so we at least need to be in there by then.
As for the desert buffet, I really hope it does involve watching Magical, the new fireworks show. However, I don't think it will because I'm not sure where they would have room to host it. This event is rumored to have between 150 to 200 people in attendance. Personally, I'm hoping that it is at Fantasmic, where I know they already do dessert buffets, but that would leave a lot of time in between the event and the dessert. Personally, I prefer Disneyland's Fantasmic for the show itself, but I agree that the seating and larger viewing area here in Disney World is nice. I just think that Peter Pan and Captain Hook are more thematically fitting in Mickey's imagination than Jamestown settlers fighting with indians. Why they put Pocahontas in the show here is a big mystery to me. Also, there have been changes to Fantasmic and the new dragon is supposed to be working by then. So if you do have the time to see it, you might want to check it out.
Also, the parade at 3:30 isn't actually a parade. It's a "street party." It makes three stops along the route and they do a show. It's fun and I enjoy it, but it does have a mixed reaction from some guests, mostly those who think they are waiting for a parade.

Yes! I want to go! I only found out about it today. But $70 a day.... ouch! Plus a ticket for the dinner! Do you know how much that is? or how much the dinner tickets are? I really want to meet Jodi.... Paige too, but she's easier....goofystitch wrote:Poody, are you talking about NFFC? I'm going for the dinner with Page and Jodi. I'm excited. The Disneyland U.S.A. event was fantastic! It was such a great night and I got to meet fellow UD member Arielle. We checked in at 3:00 pm when we were given our free park ticket into Disneyland. We met up at 6:00 in front of It's a Small World and we were escorted backstage as a group. Before taking us into Team Disney, they brought us to the fireworks launch site and told us some neat facts about them. We then headed to the theater, where we were given gift bags full of snacks courtesy of Goofy's Candy Co. and Chip & Dale Snack Company. Dave Smith started by giving us some info about how the film came into existence. A guy involved in the restoration talked about the challenges (the first reel was destroyed!!!!) and then Tony Baxter talked about what we were going to see and the drastic changes the park has had. After the film, 3 more guests came to talk about their experience at Disneyland. Jack Linquest, the president of Disneyland, had some amazing stories about the park, Walt, and Marty Sklar. One of the first Disneyland tour guides shared her stories. Finally, Bob Gurr, designer of the monorail and Autopia, talked about how he got into Imagineering and how Walt turned him into an engineer. After that, we were escorted to the Plaza Pavilion where D23 had reserved a section for us to see Magical, the new fireworks show, and they also gave us cupcakes in honor of Disneyland's 54th anniversary. It was a great event.
In other D23 news, Walt Disney Pictures had 100 seats available to the US premier of Ponyo and they decided to give them to D23, which in turn gave them to their members. A twitter update and surprise link on the website instructed members to call a number to obtain 2 free tickets. My boyfriend surprised me by getting them for me (I didn't even know they were available) and we are going. I'm so excited. Arielle is going as well.

I have been out of town due to Comic Con, so I didn't really get a chance to post a trip report for Disneyland USA. Goofystitch pretty much covered it in his review, but I'd like to add a few things too!
As he said, we got to check in at 3. They gave us a "celebrate" button and a Fast Pass that was good to use at pretty much any fast pass ride at any point we wanted to. My friend and I used it right away on Space Mountain, as that is my favorite ride. However, we should have used it on Splash Mountain, as that had a 90 minute wait and Space Mountain was only 45 minutes. We didn't get to go on Splash Mountain, but ah well. We managed to ride Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Haunted Mansion before the 5:45 check in time.
The movie was great. I never had seen it before and it was so interesting to see the comparison of Disneyland from back then to now. The discussion was great, and my friend and I literally squealed when Bandleader Mickey came on the stage.
After the screening we were escorted to a private section to eat cupcakes and watch Magical, the new fireworks show. Before the show Tony Baxter came over to talk to goofystitch and I was over there as well and we all talked together. It was a pretty exciting moment of my life.
The fireworks came, and unfortunately there was a big tree right in front of us, but we enjoyed it very much anyway. When it ended my friend and I left to ride some rides before the park closed. We got on the Matterhorn, Buzz Lightyear, and Indiana Jones. Unfortunately the sign for Indiana Jones said it was a 35 minute wait and we were in line an hour before we got on the ride. But it was a fun ride to end the night with.
Tonight I was at the special screening of Ponyo. It was really great! I enjoyed the movie very much, and we got to see Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter in person. They both made a little speech before they showed it and it was really cute. They've been friends for a long time. The Jonas Brothers were also there (though I was the only one that didn't see them) and Masi Oka (from Heroes) was there as well. I was crossing my fingers for a Tina Fey appearance, but if she was there, then I didn't see her. It was a great night and I enjoyed seeing goofystitch again!

I got pictures of them, but not with them. The line was really long and I didn't want to take any of their time. Paige's album is called "Wish Upon A Star." I don't know how new or old it is. It includes a duet with Jodi Benson.Poody wrote:Did you get pics with them?goofystitch wrote:Yes I was. They were so sweet. I got Paige's album and bought another copy of Mermaid for Jodi to sign.Wait, what album of Paige's was it? A new one??

You were probably in line when we were loading. The ride broke down for about 20 minutes, which is probably what increased your wait time. I also saw Chloris Leechman and a friend told me that Miley Cyrus was sitting in the balcony, but someone pointed out her sister, the voice of Ponyo, so I saw her as well. It's too soon to tell, but Ponyo is probably my favorite Studio Ghibli film and I think I'll see it again when it officially comes to theaters. Has this been discussed? Can someone point me to the thread, since the search is either not turning anything up or deadly slow?
Thanks.
The reason I ask is cause most of the Disney DVD Treasures will be offered to members, and maybe, just maybe it might be worth it.

It has been discussed, but it wouldn't show up in the search because the topic was titled Are You 23?, the name of the mysterious marketing campaign back when D23 was still a secret.
I've been a member since day 1 and am obsessed with D23, so if you have any questions I'm a good person to ask.
