Hey, no one's reported the Lotso cameo I found. I was looking at the huge sample pictures of the Cars 2 posters offered at Disney Movie Rewards. I noticed on the Tokyo poster, there's a neon pink sign with the words "Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear Car" and a picture of Lotso as a car!Link to the poster at DMR

Just bought the CD today! A great disc to blast while driving!

On a side note, I wonder if Disney will make this eligible for DMR points.

Here's the behind-the-scenes video to the LEGO Cars 2 Trailer posted back over here.

And I'm not sure if this is the best place to post Toy Story Hawaiian Vacation stuff, but since I'm here now I will.

I'm really enjoying the Cars 2 soundtrack. Michael Giacchino did a great job (as usual) with it. Nice mix of songs too.

Some reviews are out:

The Hollywood Reporter:
Lightning and Mater mix it up with Formula 1 and spies in yet another Pixar winner.

Pixar's 2006 release Cars is widely regarded as among the less dazzling of the animation house's dozen sterling titles, so it's fair to imagine that John Lasseter and his pit crew felt motivated to use a little extra elbow grease in order to deliver an improved new model. On the whole, they have, as Lightning McQueen and the loyal pick-up truck Mater quickly vamoose from sleepy Radiator Springs to join the Grand Prix circuit in a succession of world capitals, where they become entangled in some related international spy intrigue. Featuring cooler cars and more action than Fast Five, Cars 2 is notably less refined and more rambunctious than Pixar's recent run of artistic gems. But commercially, it'll be off to the races this summer, with even bigger international prospects assured on this lap than on the first spin.
Variety:
If "Cars" was perhaps the least engaging of Pixar's hugely successful animated features, John Lasseter and his team have hit the creative accelerator with the unexpectedly delightful "Cars 2." The rare sequel that improves on its predecessor, this lightning-paced caper-comedy shifts the franchise into high gear with international intrigue, spy-movie spoofery and more automotive puns than you can shake a stickshift at, handling even its broader stretches with sophistication, speed and effortless panache. High-performance B.O. is assured, but as with "Cars," ancillary/merchandising is where this expertly souped-up entertainment will leave others in the dust.
Looking forward to hearing what you guys think of the movie!

Just three days! I can hardly wait! I'll be done with this stupid nasty cold I had since last Friday that made me miss seeing Green Lantern at my town's little theater over the weekend, my horse riding lesson yesterday, and working at my job today.

This is beyond surreal for a Pixar film, but Cars 2 now sits at a 59% on Rotten Tomatoes:

If it stays below 60%, this will be their first film to get largely negative reviews. :o That said, I will probably still see it to form my own opinion.

I can gurantee the film will get at least a 60%. Only 7 people so far have given it a rotten. It may go up in the next few days. I will still see it regardless though (Especially since I have a free ticket).

The original which was worse than the sequel gained 74%. Perhaps the critics are being harsher in their review due to their opinion of the original.

The movie is an obvious cash grab. Critics were never going to like it. Wether it's good or not.

There is a negative stigma surrounding the first Cars, which I thought was pretty good (I think it would be even better if co-director Joe Ranft [RIP] didn't die during production), so that is seemingly influencing some of the negative reviews.

I think critics are upset that it is not a particularly emotionally gripping film like most of Pixar's past works (even the original Cars). It's about a world grand prix and it seems to be more of a spy spoof than anything else. It looks colorful, loud, and fun. I don't mind that at all if done entertainingly, personally. Does Pixar always have to tug at the heartstrings?

I could see Mater getting on my nerves since he becomes more of the focus in this one compared to Lightning's coming of age in the first. But I'm going to the IMAX 3D midnight showing tomorrow night, so I'll let you all know what I thought about it afterwards.

haha. that HAS been their bread and butter over the years. but still, going a little more cartoony, humor-driven, and action-oriented for one film is not the end of the world. pixar is too smart to change the formula too much.
