This week only 2:
Doctor Who: Series 2 Vol 1 R2
The first David Tennant episodes. However, it's so light on content, it's a DVD5! The Xmas Invasion and New Earth episodes. No supplements... not even static text-only screens. It's interesting, these versions of the episodes end with a caption thanking the Canadian Broadcasting Company, which isn't on the episodes as transmitted on BBC1.

Night Watch R2
Despite the box listing three versions of the movie (Russian Version, English Version and Theatrical Version) there is only 2 versions (different language soundtracks don't count as 'versions' in my book... especially when is is known that there are editing differences between territories). The first two versions use 'normal' player generated subtitles... the Theatrical version is the same edit, but uses the burt-in, symbolic effects subtitles.

How was "Night Watch"? I thought it looked interesting by the previews I watched, yet I heard otherwise.2099net wrote:Night Watch R2

Batman The Animated Series Vol.4 , as a gift.
What a great marathon I had yesterday!!! It does take a while to get used to some character designs.
The ones I didn't like at all:
Catwoman
Robin
The Penguin
The Riddler
Joker
The ones that looked great:
Scarecrow
Bane
Two Face
Batgirl
Mr. Freeze
Yeah the series lost some things with the changes, like the cinematic feeling of the episodes, but the stories are still as good ever. In fact, the series felt more like Justice League.

I just couldn't believe it! I was walking into my local CD store, as usual, for my weekly DVD inspection, and there it was!
Just standing there! A brand new, sealed copy of Beauty and the Beast. Yes, it's the R2 single-disc edition, but who cares?! I FINALLY have it! One of my all time favourite movies! YES!!!!
Happy day!

Just a note that anyone who wants Hoodwinked, Wal-Mart has select copies coupled with a bonus DVD with "30 minutes of behind the scenes footage" along with some other CGI movie, "Wobots".
Also, my Wal-Mart didn't have Dinosaurs, dammit, so I couldn't get it (even if I had moolah).

Two DVDs got purchased tonight:
Doctor Who - Genesis of the Daleks: Mistakenly picked this up thinking it had something to do with Phil Collins...
...ok, it was my only planned purchase for this week. 2-Disc set of joy, will plow into it this week and no doubt post a review by next weekend. A calssic Tom Baker yarn, that isn't for all tastes, but it is a Sarah Jane story, and I'm in the mood for one of those at the moment.
Six Feet Under - Season 1: Virtually blind buy, as I've only seen the odd episode. However, given that this was something like 40-50% off and only cost me $32 AUS (that's about $25 US), I think I'm doing well. Unlike the Sopranos and Deadwood DVDs, these are identical to the US counterparts so it was a great deal.
