I have one free ticket from Kellogg's to see a Disney Movie by January 10th. I'm thinking I might go see Frozen one more time to use the ticket and since it covers up to twelve dollars, I'll see it in 3D

Re: Frozen: Part V
We went as a family - Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Grandma and two grandkids - to see "Frozen" for the fourth time. This time in 2-d and I don't feel we missed a thing. The music is just absolutely wonderful, the story is well written and for the life of me, I don't understand all the negativity I am reading here on this thread.
The story is perfect, the music all fits the situations, and it is just one of the best Disney All Family films in the past 10 or more years. I can't remember being this excited to see a movie more than once, and I am sure that with school not starting until January 6th we will probably come back and see this amazing Disney film another time or two. There is nothing else out in the theaters at the moment that I really want to see.
My wife and I saw "Saving Mr. Banks" and truly enjoyed that film. But as a total family film right now, I will not hesitate to take the grandkids to see this movie again.

EDIT:
This is apparently what the artwork will look like I guess though the one on Wal-Mart's Website is different

I loved Love is an Open Door. It had that tongue-in-cheek fun of True Love's Kiss. Albeit more subtle. The audience is made quite clear their newfound love is kind of.... quick. It's a great scene.Musical Master wrote:Nice review Patrick, as always.
While I disagree that the songs feel the need to let the audience breath in the beginning (probably due to my tastes in musical films), I do agree with you that there could've been a more threating presense on Anna and Kristoff's journey. What did you think of Love Is an Open Door and of Hans?
Hans was great. I personally liked his character and the twist involving him.

That blu-ray cover is not final. I've been waiting years for Disney to have characters pop-out over the border, but they haven't done it. So It might be slightly different.
As for the 3D version.. I'm like 90% sure that we'll get one!

Why can't you all just enjoy movies without giving them such flack afterwards? When was the last time any of you just watched a movie for great entertainment, for an edge of your seat thrill, or to laugh at the comedy or get caught in the drama?
Re: Frozen: Part V
2 days ago. I watched Anchorman 2. It's been hard trying not to criticize it.... but I can't cause I just wanted to see a stupid movie.TheBlibaBlob wrote:Why can't you all just enjoy movies without giving them such flack afterwards? The art direction reminds me of what would happen if Eyvind Earle and Mary Blair came back from the dead and worked on this movie together. Re: Frozen: Part V
I just saw Frozen !
Okay, there was like 20- 30 people there so it was alright, most people were there to see Hunger Games and Hobbit, which guess was pretty normal.
The Mickey Mouse cartoon, some people were like " ohmygosh....how lame " at the beginning, but as soon as Mickey jumped out of the screen in 3D and the 2D and 3D started mixed, the audience got more and more impressed, and there was plenty of laughs.
The movie, people really enjoyed it PEOPLE CLAPPED AND CHEERED
People laughed at Olaf's jokes and most jokes throughout the movie, the plot-twist with Hans, yup, there was quite a few " what !? s view the cinema and shocked gasps/ surprised gasps.
About this movie VS Tangled
Frozen all the way, less annoying songs, way better songs, much better visuals, much better characters, the only thing that Tangled did better compared to Frozen was a much smoother storyline and explaining Rapunzel's power than just " Maybe she was born with it, maybe it's Maybelline " thing, but I still prefer Frozen minus the lack of smoother storytelling. About Hans and the sudden twist, I didn't think so. As somebody who has personal experience with fakers, he was dead on character imo, they always act super duper nice like Hans did, and they usually make sure that they are kind and friendly and make sure that everybody trusts him/ her so they trust the faker and you look like the one that's in the bad, Hans was done really, really well, from experience.
They all believed him when he told them that Anna had died, and Elsa believed him when he told him that Anna had died, they all thought that he was this super nice guy and so did you, you thought that he was typical Disney Prince. So not only did he be manipulative towards the people in the movie, but you as well.
2nd favorite Disney villain. Sorry, but you just can't beat Ursula Hans.
The Troll song was alright, still don't think much of it, just filler and something to make the ending pairing less sudden, guess was needed so I don't find it " A Guy Like You " awful, just maybe a necessary evil.

During parades and things in the parks, what do you think will be used as the movies theme song? Either with the characters singing it or just being played on the float.

For The First Time in Forever would be perfect.

Re: Frozen: Part V
I've been quite busy recently (mainly due to having a wonderful time travelling in South America), so I haven't been able to make many posts here recently. I finally saw Frozen last weekend with my parents and brother (my mother particularly wanted to see this film), so here are my thoughts on the matter.
I will admit that I had somewhat mixed feelings while Frozen was being developed/produced. On the one hand, I'm a great admirer of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales and would actually consider them as a collection to be one of the greatest influences upon my imagination and creative output. I've always thought "The Snow Queen" would be a great idea for a Disney animated film, and was glad it was finally coming out no matter what it looked like. On the other hand, I felt that it was shaping out to be "Tangled II" in many regards. I wondered if there would be any touch of Andersen left, and I was a bit put off by the marketing buzz surrounding the introduction of two new princesses to the line-up. As such, I didn't go in with the same level of eagerness that I did with Tangled or even The Princess and the Frog; in fact, I went in with perhaps a more critical attitude.
However, it seems that Frozen melted my icy heart, and I'm actually considering seeing it again before it leaves the cinema. And that says something.
The story was brilliant; they payed homage to the spirit of the original "Snow Queen" story (I spotted a good few elements of the original throughout the plot), while making it a wholly modern story. The characters are really easy to relate to; of the protagonists, I related to the pluckiness of Anna, the cynicism of Kristoff and the summer-yearning Olaf (though I'll never melt in the sun, it has to be said that I'm more likely to burn than tan
). Yet I particularly related to the character of Elsa, and her song "Let it Go" felt like a true anthem for a new generation. The only real problem is that there are so many characters that some are perhaps not as developed as they could be. None of them seem throwaway or useless to the overall plot like in The Princess and the Frog, but some of them could have done with some fleshing out or increased screentime (I'm thinking primarily of the trolls). Having said that, that's more a flaw derived from the excellence of the film itself. I'm also glad that there was some screen credit given to Hans Christian Andersen, something that Tangled forgot to give to the Brothers Grimm.
The animation was also fantastic; it takes what Tangled did well and timesed it by ten. The subtleties of the humans has really improved since 2010, and this is coming from someone who thought Tangled had some of the best CG animation of humans ever!
The score stood out to me as the best Disney song score produced since the 1990s. That's not to say that the scores produced after 1998 are bad; Tangled and Enchanted are great, and I did like some of the songs in The Princess and the Frog. However, aside from "First Time in Forever", which I felt was a bit syrupy, I loved all the songs and came out the cinema with them still stuck in my head. As I previously said, I particularly loved "Let it Go", and thought it was staged brilliantly. If that does not win the Best Song at the Oscars or the Golden Globes, I will scream. While I still would consider myself a Menken fan, I do think that other talent need to have a crack at producing song material for Disney, and the Lopezes are just right. Their tunes are catchy, and their lyrics are witty as well. I hope that they are used in other projects in the future, be they fairy tales or otherwise.
And as for Get a Horse, I thought it was fantastic. To discuss it in detail would spoil it completely, but in the spirit of it bridging classic Disney with modern sensibilities and styles, it fits perfectly with Frozen.
