Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod Episode #36: "25 Minute Father's Day Special: The Disney Dads"

In celebration of Father's Day, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod revisits its 2006 "Top 10 Disney Dads" episode. That show, episode #13, contained an audio montage of the "Honorable Mentions" -- Disney Dads who didn't quite make the cut. Three years later, that montage is updated to include:

• All the original "honorable mention" dads
• The original Top 10 dads (not included in the original montage, as they had their own audio segments throughout the countdown)
• New Disney Dads who have joined the Disney family in movies and theme park attractions since the summer of 2006
• A few bonus Disney Dads from classic Disney films who weren't included the first time around

The original audio montage was very well received by listeners when it was first released and I still get emails about it to this day. The updated and expanded version is this quick episode is the perfect way to commemorate Father's Day this weekend!

Haha, Aaron, I am quite honored! =) Thank you for reading them on the show, too! I remembered when it first aired, I was so happy you liked my words on Disney and America enough to read my e-mail.

Also, I'm so glad the show is back to being regular again. The Father's Day special was great! It was a lot of fun identifying who everyone was and who made the countdown; there really were a lot of Disney father's I didn't even think to consider. Can't wait to finish catching up and hearing more episodes all summer!

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod Episode #41: A Look at Walt: The Man Behind the Myth and More

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod reviews a 2001 documentary entitled Walt: The Man Behind the Myth. That excellent DVD happens to be on sale for $8.99 at Amazon.com right now, so the show is offering high praise in recommending an immediate purchase!

Reflection on the documentary leads to a discussion of the potential for a Walt Disney biopic, as well as the the prestigious Disney Legends Hall of Fame and speculation over the 2009 inductees, and some big announcements from Aaron!

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod Episode #44: Halloween & Hidden Mickeys

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod celebrates Halloween 2009 by revisiting its 2006 "Top 10 Disney Villains" episode. That show, episode #24, contained an audio montage of the "Honorable Mentions" -- Disney Villains who didn't quite make the cut. Three years later, that montage is updated to include:

After that, discussion moves to the Hidden Mickeys phenomenon, why they've never been particularly interesting to your host, and how that has ever so slightly changed thanks to the new editions of Steven M. Barrett's Hidden Mickeys books (that's right, a book review!).

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-pod (iTunes) Episode #50 In this retrospective of the last 5 years and 50 shows, Aaron talks about the Disney fan, that it’s not just kiddie stuff but fine art and we are commended for listening to him and having good taste. He takes us back to the beginning, starting with appearances on Jesse’s Mousepod and audio of his first episode. The countdowns, highlights from popular skits, opinions, reviews and congratulatory emails/voice mails highlight this thinking man’s podcast. I laughed at the ‘real podcaster of genius’ submission. (For me this is the most expensive Disney podcast I have listened to! From Aaron’s great recommendations, I have been motivated to buy DVD’s, CD’s, such as the broadway soundtrack “On the Record”, and even make a trip to NYC to see Mary Poppins when it opened on Broadway.)

Awesome! The Disney Blog is one of a few sites reviewing my show (and some other Disney podcasts) now, but I hadn't come across this particular review yet. Thanks for posting it, Amy. Good to know I'm encouraging others to drop some cash on Disney.
