I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS RELEASE!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! SWEET MAMAAAAAA!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Now that I have gotten that out of my system i can tell you why i am so excited. Snow White has always been my favorite princess and the movie is in my top 5 list of my fav classics. I was in the 4th grade when the first release came out. I had finished with Disney around 2 years earlier (or so i thought). When I heard about the release i seriously contemplated getting it. But i made the wrong choice because i still had my VHS, i thought the vault thing was just a gimmick that i would always be able to find it on dvd and buying a princess dvd would not help me fit in with the cool crowd. I still have a totally worn out VHS copy and need the dvd soo badly. Hopefully my house will have a bluray by that time and i can get both dvd and blu. Needless to say a year is to long to wait!

(i think i might watch my VHS right now)

I already had it on video, I didnt need it again. Really wished I had got it now ! Ah well, at least this is my chance ...

I am wondering what they will do about bonus features when the Platinum's repeat themselves. But, having said that, Sleeping Beauty has had a DVD release that was worthy of the 'Platinum' title (collectors edition), and yet they have found more bonus features to include on the new DVD.

UNLESS Disney knew they were going to repeat themselves on the Platinums, and deliberatly held back on the bonus features ....
Yeah,it's also the same reason why I didn't bought it and the first Beauty And The Beast PE,that's also why I didn't bought the old Sleeping Beauty (But now I"m glad I didn't bought it because I like the new Platinum Edition much better),did you bought Beauty And The Beast?.
About the features-The Sleeping Beauty PE don't have even one feature from the 2003 DVD so they"ll come up for new features for Snow White (Maybe the deleted scenes will be the same),I guess it will be like the new Nightmare Before Christmas DVD.

I'm excited for the release, too. Actually, the first DVD I ever saw was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs... but we only rented it so I didn't buy my first DVD until February of 2002.

Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers that this will be an awesome release. At the same time, I don't know whether I should buy the Blu-Ray, too. With a lotta luck I'll have a Blu-Ray player by then... But that's a LOTTA luck. On the other hand, I don't want to regret not owning the Blu-Ray version like I do the 2001 DVD... And yet I'm not entirely convinced Blu-Ray will even maintain itself on the market. But sometimes you just have to take a chance, right?

But if you"ll buy the DVD you can play it on both Blu-Ray and DVD.
If I"ll have Blu-Ray I might buy the Blu-Ray versions of films I have on DVD.

The only thing I wonder is what they're going to say in their advertisements. I mean, of course I expect, "For the first time on Blu-Ray...," but I mean they've always talked about how much better/different the movie looks. Now they can't really say that, as it's probably the best it's going to look. I guess they'll just promote that it's so much better in high-definition. What then? Maybe we'll finally start to see super-sets!

"Disney's very first classic on DVD again and for the first time one Blu-Ray?".
Oh,I can see the website:
"Starring, the first Disney Princess!" or "Starring, the Disney Princess with the most popular voice!".

Snow White Platinum Edition - Fall 2009

Post by SleepingBeautyAurora »

Will it be better then the previous Platinum Edition ? Will it have new cover art ? Will older features be carried over ? Will the value of the previous Platinum Edition plummet ? I'm very curious about this new Platinum Edition, What do you think ?

I can't wait for this I have only recently began collecting Disney DVDs and so didn't get the original PE back in 2001, and really want it on DVD for obvious reasons. I hope that this edition will be like an updated version of the 2001 PE, with the same bonus features except loads more (well I'm not to sure about the loads bit lol). I do hope that the cover art will be attractive, I loved Ariel's Beginning cover so I hope it's a similar composition which I know would make it similar to the 2001 Edition but that was quite a nice cover. BTW I would just like to say this is my very first post at Ultimate Disney Forum! (So I'm Michael btw I LOVE The Little Mermaid and Disney!)

I missed the first three Platinums (Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King), as well as the Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 set, and I don't have Pinnochio yet so I'm excited to fill in these gaps in my collection over the next two years. Otherwise I have everything else except Make Mine Music which I'm also still looking for.

I'm definitely looking forward to adding Snow White to my collection. I love the animation in those early Disney movies, expecially the beautifully painted backgrounds. And, the characters that are there for comedy relief aren't all hyperactive like they are now. It seems the only movie that came out recently that reflects a similar style to those early features is WALL-E, albeit it was done in CGI.

...well I might as well restart the collection on Blu Ray. Even though I have them all already at least I'll have them in high def, then that's the last time I'm buying them ;p

I bought the 2001 edition from someone because I wasn't collecting at the time. I did get the Lion King, but I was more into that than Snow White. I'm so excited for the new one. Especially to get it in Blu-Ray! I'm excited to get all of the upcoming Platinums in Blu-Ray.

As many of you have said as far as picture quality i'm not too sure if they are going to be able to do any better, unless the colors were drastically wrong and they somehow found the real color scheme and re-restore it to even more perfect perfection... somehow i doubt it, the film was awesome. I think it's a guaranteed downgrade from the 2001 PE, there's no way they are going to put as much extra material that is on the 2001 DVD on this new one. At least given how much material has been given to us since Pocahontas's 10 Anniversary Edition I feel very safe in that assumption.

My only realy big hope is that they restore the soundtrack a little bit better. Somehow deep in my heart I can't belive that the shrieking voice from the 2001 DVD is the actual restored voice. I feel like the years have made it lot harsher on the recording, but that's just a personal theory. Otherwise I think that this may be the first time ever I'd be comfortable with a new dubbing (except they would probably use one of their new pop-tarts for the voice, excuse me while a gag thinking about Miley Cyrus as the new voice).

It's nice to see that everyone it's starting to warm up to bluray, when I first came here everyone was kinda harsh on it, and I felt it would years until I'd get my first classic animated movie on bluray, so I'm glad things have changed. :D

By all that's sacred, they better not screw with Adriana Caselotti's voice!

That's the voice Walt wanted for his Princess, and that's the voice that should stay. I actually like it but it usually takes me til about the Whistle While You Work sequence to get my ears adjusted! :P Maybe they COULD clean up the vocal tracks a bit...

Eh. I generally like Snow White's voice. It just fits so well as did all the voices of did under Walt's supervision (except maybe Arthur's voice. I don't know what they were thinking). Walt certainly knew what he was looking for when it came to voice-artists.

Adriana Caselotti's version of Someday my prince will come and Wishing Well are still the best I've heard so far.
