Julia Michaels is Latina? I didn't know that. Ariana DeBose is Afro-Latina, but I didn't think Julia Michaels was.

Re: Wish
Source: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movie ... 235326681/On the animation front, 2022 was a tough one for Disney, which saw Pixar’s Lightyear underperform and Disney Animation’s Strange World outright bomb. Iger announced three new sequels to $1 billion brands — Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia — and Disney insiders have acknowledged recent box office woes were exacerbated by confusion in the marketplace from families who were trained during the pandemic just to wait for animated features to end up on Disney+. There is talk of longer theatrical windows for Elemental (June 16) and Disney Animation’s Wish (Nov. 22) in hopes of luring families back to theaters.
Re: Wish
I think that's a good decision. By the way, Julia Michaels talked a bit about writing the songs for Wish on the Grammys' red carpet:

Will ‘The Marvels’ and ‘Wish’ Split Moviegoers? Disney Believes There’s Room for Both
https://www.thewrap.com/marvels-wish-di ... ox-office/Based on the first look shown at the D23 Expo, “Wish” has all the makings of a stone-cold Disney hit: soaring musical numbers sung by a princess, gorgeous fairy tale environments and a comic relief goat voiced by Alan Tudyk. It’s a film that’s much closer to “Frozen” than to “Strange World,” and that might be all that “Wish” needs to get little girls around the world begging their parents to see the film in theaters.
It’s hard to say at this point how well “Wish” will do when there hasn’t even been a teaser trailer released. Disney will likely start its marketing campaign for the film during the summer, attaching posters and trailers to their live-action/CGI remake of “The Little Mermaid” on Memorial Day weekend and the Pixar animated movie “Elemental” in June. If engagement on those trailers is strong, “Wish” may be on its way to becoming a rebound hit for Disney Animation.

Re: Wish
It's so hard to predict anything that marketing machine does anymore. We're seeing now with TLM that we can only make guesses.
It seems to me like they're already lining up their excuses in case Wish does do poorly. "Yeah, we didn't do anything wrong. The movie underperformed because of The Marvels after all."

Re: Wish
I hope everything Grace just said about Wish including it having a classic animation style is true.

THAT ought to bring people pouring into cinemas. Especially the folks in border states. What do they say now? Everyone lives in a border state...

Re: Wish
I think Chris Pine has an AWESOME voice that will attribute a villain song especially. I'm really looking forward to seeing/hearing how this plays out!
Re: Wish
I'll be honest, at this point I hope that every time Grace Randolph shares something from "her sources", they prove to be untrue simply because I just can't stand her.

Re: Wish
I think several villains in the Renaissance were also powerful white guys who hated outsiders. Frollo v. the gypsies, Ratcliffe v. the natives, etc. Gaston v. Belle and the Beast and Clayton v. the gorillas are also a sort of play on power, but without the racist aspect.
Chris Pine as the villain though... I mean, I like him, but I wouldn't imagine him playing a villain. I guess he may be like Prince Hans.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

I'm not saying she's wrong... yet. Just that the world would be a better place without... whatever it is she does. Journalism, vlogging, I don't think Grace is good at any of it.D23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 12:10 pmJust because you can't stand her gives you no right to claim she's wrong.

Re: Wish
Chris Pine as the villain? Hmmm... A surprising choice. I usually like Chris Pine (and not only for shallow, superficial reasons
), but I just can`t see him as a villain. But it could`ve been interesting.
However, regarding the reception of Wish: Considering how the Revival era followed the same pattern from the Renaissance and this new era that we`ve entered apparently have mirrored the Black Post-Renaissance era (as proven with the underperfomance of Strange World), I`ll wonder if Wish is going to be the lone success in this timeline. Considering that Strange World was obviously the Atlantis The Lost Empire of this era (for being the big Box Office bomb), I`ll wonder if Wish is going to be the Lilo & Stitch of this time (for being the lone hit).
