^ I completely agree with all that, though I loved Erivo even more so wish she would win as well, but it seems Emilia Perez is gonna take most prizes.

I totally forgot this was coming out next week, but I got a shipping notification for my steelbook from Walmart. It is due to arrive on Monday— I am very excited to soon be able to watch this movie at home!

I got my shipping notice, too! I did not know this was coming out so soon! You were right that November was just a placeholder date!

I thought he was joking, but I think he really did want that line!

I am so curious if we’re going to have any big cameo surprises in Part 2. Logic says “no”— we got Idina, Kristin, Stephen Schwartz, Winnie Holzman, and I think a number of performers associated with the West End production of Wicked. The only remaining big cameo would be from Gregory Maguire, but I don’t know if he wants that kind of attention?

I saw someone online suggest Liza Minnelli should cameo and I would actually love that but also concede that would be on the same level of distracting as LMM.

Well. Gregory said a few days ago that Glinda and Elphaba were lesbians so I think that she's trying to catch some attention.

Yeah, the only reason I question it is because Wicked Part One is so loaded with cameos by “authors” of Wicked, I would be really surprised if Maguire wasn’t offered a cameo and perhaps turned it down? Or maybe they are saving him for part two? He did walk the red carpet for the movie premiere.

Apparently, Walmart’s handling of the steelbook release has been a clusterf*ck. Over on Blu-ray.com, people who preordered months ago aren’t getting shipping notices and then randomly people who preordered a week ago are. And apparently brick and mortar Walmarts don’t have a lot of stock, either. Mine did arrive on Monday but I haven’t watched it yet (I’m still trying to finish Downton Abbey— all I have left are the two movies now). I’ve been listening to the soundtrack and especially “Defying Gravity” on repeat— speaking as someone for whom the OBC has been a cherished favorite for years, I think Cynthia Erivo’s “Defying Gravity” might be definitive. Not just the vocals, but also the orchestration. Can’t wait to rewatch that whole finale at home soon.

Did you guys go with the steelbook or the regular slipcover? I think I'll go for the slipcover to be honest. I'm going to London in June, so if I find the steelbook in stores, I might get it, and keep it sealed.

I'm glad that Gregory is not involved at all in the film. The book is a mess. The broadway show is much better and the people who made the script made a good job improoving Gregory's work. I couldn't even end the book.
I'm gonna try to get a steelbook but we don't have any dates about spanish release yet.

She is in the “One Short Day” segment, during the “Wizomania” part that retells the story of the Wizard. She’s the Ozian who says “He must be… a Wizard!”

Actually, I get very tickled with her part, because I don’t know a ton about Holzman, I don’t know if she has some amount of acting background or not. But she really sells her line here!

Thank you! I must pay attention to her part next time I watch the film! It indeed must have been done well if I never noticed the character seemingly badly acted!

I finally watched this a few days ago! I could've watched it sooner; the steelbook was apparently delivered on another porch and sat there for about a week before I started wondering why the movie hadn't come by now and checked on its delivery. Probably for the best, since I had been dealing with something a few weeks ago and wouldn't have been in a good state of mind to enjoy it properly.

The movie was so good, I can't wait to see the second half. Ariana ended up being the highlight as people had said, I'm surprised. I know she had been on Nickelodeon way back when, but I thought she'd be just okay (even as a fan). She sort of disappeared in the second half though. All the actors were perfect. I already listened to the soundtrack back when it was released; Idina's and Chenoweth's cameos were even better than I expected. I wonder if they'll show up in part II, too, or not?

I loved the scene for "The Wizard and I" in particular, the way the meadow was sort of faded and the green stood out even more. It helps that that's the one song that I like the film version of more than the OBC on top of it. All the other actors besides Ariana were great, too. Not shocked there since they were all perfect casts. The girl who played the Witch as a child was also a standout. Almost as adorable as baby Moana was in that film.

And the 4K steelbook is gorgeous as advertised, of course! I'm glad they used the other poster I liked (the one that recreated the Broadway poster of Glinda whispering in the Witch's ear) for the 4K disc.

Universal Destinations & Experiences Has Plans for ‘Wicked’ Attractions in Theme Parks
Universal Destinations & Experiences is planning to add “Wicked” to their theme parks as more than just a themed shop.

CEO Mark Woodbury told the New York Times he has secret plans for “Wicked” attractions.

“When I saw it, my first reaction was, ‘This is a theme park waiting to happen,'” Woodbury said of the “Wicked” film.

Woodbury didn’t share more, like what kind of attractions or where they would be located. But Universal has been collaborating closely with Universal Pictures in recent years, the NYT pointed out. Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023, coinciding with the release of “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” The new Epic Universe park at Universal Orlando Resort will include a “How to Train Your Dragon” section based on the successful film series.

“We’ve cultivated a creative and commercial shorthand across our teams, and that ease and comfort with one another allows us to pull levers across the company to amplify our respective strategies,” said Donna Langley, chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios.

In November, Universal Orlando Resort opened Wicked: The Experience. In addition to “Wicked” merchandise available for purchase, the store has props and costumes on display amid replicas of the film’s sets. Guests can sometimes meet Glinda and Elphaba.

Universal Studios Hollywood also offered “Wicked” experiences including merchandise, an Emerald City photo op, costume displays, and special food items.

Universal Studios Singapore went all in on “Wicked” with a small version of the Emerald City including replicas of The Hot Air Cafe Float on In and The Emerald Beautification Salon, meet and greets with the witches and The Wizard, Elphaba and Glinda makeovers, and more.

Universal Studios Japan will have special “Wicked” experiences from March 7 through December 31 as part of the “Wicked Celebration.” This will coincide with the release of “Wicked: For Good” in November.

In fact, Universal Studios Japan once had a Land of Oz, complete with Munchkinland and The Emerald City. It featured a shortened version of the “Wicked” Broadway show. The mini-land was open from 2006 to 2011.

I’m so glad they are at least talking about it!!! I really hope this happens, and I hope it happens stateside because I can’t imagine I’ll ever visit an international Universal park.

I'm not...crazy about it? Something about the colors coming together in the center doesn't quite work for me. I'm sure there will be nicer ones to come though, the first film had several that were pretty.

I would like if they took the one where they re-created the original Broadway poster of Glinda whispering into Elphaba's ear and maybe did a reverse pose version for the sequel of Elphaba whispering into Glinda's ear.

I think that it doesn't work too. The character are really small and the castle has more protagonism than Glinda and Elphaba. I like the concept but they could have made it without leaving so much space under them.

I’m not a fan of this poster, either. But I didn’t think the posters for the first film were that well executed, either. At least we get a glimpse of Elphaba and Glinda’s new costumes here.
