Re: Wreck-It Ralph - Part II
Regarding Sora in the Tapper scene.
I think that is a bit impossible, since he is not an Arcade game character. In the movie, we primarily saw characters who live in the arcade games, and Kingdom Hearts is a console game.
However. In that screenshot posted a couple pages back, there is a red character who reminds me of the old Mario, from when he fought against Donkey Kong Sr.

The references in Wreck it Ralph aren't arcade-exclusive, remember that the sequel will probably feature console gaming.
Here's a list with cameos from the film. http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Wreck-It_R ... _of_Cameos
A lot of the are from consoles (isn't Link from Legend of Zelda console only?)

Re: Wreck-It Ralph - Part II
Does anyone else play the Wreck-It Ralph games on the official site? I've been playing Sugar Rush, and I was wondering how many different codes there are. I've only unlocked King Candy for it via codes, and managed to unlock the non-code kids.
I was excited initially to see a game for Sugar Rush, but that deflated quickly when only 4 tracks were available and you had to play each one 3 times just to unlock characters etc. I had hoped for the gumball length of track, and the rainbow road-esque cave as well. Alas.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph - Part II
I haven't played it on the site, but I would like a racing game of WIR actually. Either way, I'm sure this movie'll end up in Kingdom Hearts at some point, and maybe they'll take advantage and have racing minigames in that.Chernabog_Rocks wrote:Does anyone else play the Wreck-It Ralph games on the official site? Yeah, a racing game and a fighting game are the two things I wish Disney had, which included a wide range of their classic characters. I'm surprised they haven't already, or at least made plans, considering they're trying to make a jump into gaming.

The scene is awesome, but due to the nature of the story existing within a set of video game worlds, I think it works best as CG.DisneyJedi wrote:.... Great. Now part of me is wondering if the movie should have been hand-drawn!

Agreed. But it's good to see they continue to strive for bringing the flair of hand drawn animation to CGI. I think the character animation in Disney's CG films is some of the best currently being produced.enigmawing wrote:The scene is awesome, but due to the nature of the story existing within a set of video game worlds, I think it works best as CG.DisneyJedi wrote:.... Dreamworks The Croods will surpass Wreck-It Ralph at the worldwide boxoffice by next weekend! Look at this:
Wreck-It Ralph -- (foreign: $281,800,00) $471,176,830
The Croods -- (foreign: $308,000,000) $471,025,000
The Croods has been out for only 6 weeks, while WIR has been out for 25 weeks! Hasn't been a good month for WDAS, Wreck-It Ralph has been outgrossed by the latest Dreamworks film in only a month in release, firing of long time 2D animators & another Frozen leak that they had to cover up. WDAS, while they are improving, still have a looong way to go to match Pixar/Dreamworks.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph - Part II
I think you can more blame the company's marketing department and stagnated release date rather than the actual animation studio itself. The Croods pretty much opened in every country around the same time, not to mention 20th Century Fox seems to have a real knack for selling their films to an international audience.

Completely ignoring the failure of Rise of the Guardians, the Dreamworks lay-offs and the fact that they have to share a schedule with Blue Sky Animation Studios now.DisneyEra wrote:Dreamworks The Croods will surpass Wreck-It Ralph at the worldwide boxoffice by next weekend! Look at this:

You're deluding yourself if you believe things are all rosy at DWAS. They're not. The success of The Croods is a sigh of relief rather than 'business as usual'... And right now, Croods is still not a lock for outgrossing Ralph at the domestic Box Office.
And why do you continue to bring up the lack of Frozen ads as something negative? Has Avatar taught us nothing?

Re: Wreck-It Ralph - Part II
Not surprised by The Croods surpassing WIR. Dreamworks films have generally been superior to Disney films the past few years. WIR is the first time, imo anyway, Disney's come close to creating a all-around good CG film. I don't expect Frozen to carry the torch (although I expect it to be successful financially), but BH6 could be pretty good.
You're pretty desperate trying to bring Dreamworks down to Disney's level. RotG was one flop in 1/2 of 1 year, where Disney generally failed for nearly 15 years. Dreamworks did have layoffs, but they are nowhere near in the same situation as Disney who has only just achieved a moderate success with WIR and Tangled (which might have allowed Disney to really rake it in if it weren't for the enormous budget it amounted). You're deluding yourself if you believe things are all rosy at DWAS. The only Dreamworks film that might be on par (!) with Tangled and Wreck-it Ralph is "How to Train your Dragon", with "Rise of the Guardians" close behind.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph - Part II
And Disney had Chicken Little, MTR, Treasure Planet, and HOTR--what's your point?
And, personally, I found Madagascar 3 entertaining for what it was, and it did rake in the cash. I don't see it in much of a different light than Cars 2, Monsters University, or Finding Dory. I find RotG, HTTYD, and KFP all superior to WIR (which I liked moderately well), and especially Tangled (which is mostly bad to me, barring the character of Rapunzel).

I agree. I enjoyed Rise of the Guardians much better than WIR.qindarka wrote:What does financial success have to do with quality?

Your post did imply that audiences went to watch The Croods because of its quality.Disney's Divinity wrote:

Most people liked Tangled and Pixar films as well. Just go by your own opinion all the time, no need to defer to public opinion, financial success or critical reception to support your point when it suits you.Disney's Divinity wrote:Most people find it awful though.
