if you look at the comparisons, this isnt nearly as good as other restorations and actually seems to have been marketing-minded in terms of the colors that somehow lost depth, detail, and made Cinderella look more like her Disney Princess version than the silver one that`s even present in the Kingdom Hearts PSP game in 2010, which square enix had used references and probably the ARL for.HarryCanyon wrote:I think the blu-ray did the best job for the best restoration ever.
This isnt like one of Marky`s rants for sleeping beauty and Snow White. Those were good restorations that revealed more about the original prints and artwork. This was pretty botched by comparison and the missing linework and painting mistakes make it clear.

In all the posts where you say to prefer the second picture after the first one, or where you say the restoration is great or "not so bad". And we are not talking about the sharpness here, but about the details in patches, lines, fabric, sleeves, etc.The_Iceflash wrote:

So that's why I am so curious why you prefer the details in the 2nd shot.
If you have a problem with the missing details, then join us and let's try to do something about it. And if Disney can add more authentic looking colors and lines as well, we might get something that feels better!

In all the posts where I say I prefer the second after the first one? What posts? The only one I said that to was Peter Pan's. I never called this restoration great or not bad. One of the only things I've said was much of these issues that were pointed out, I didn't even notice until they were. That's the truth. In fact, I'm one of the biggest advocates in this thread as far as spreading the news and letting people know. Look back through the thread and go through my posts. I've also been almost single-handedly trying to get the Lion King error fixed. I've went as far as posting about it on Laughing Place. The Lion King BD "Cloud" error. Replacement Disc? That thread about here and there is mine. You're directing all this at the wrong person.Marky_198 wrote:In all the posts where you say to prefer the second picture after the first one, or where you say the restoration is great or "not so bad". Yep.Marky_198 wrote:So what was your point?
How afwul the screenshots are?
I'm glad we agree.
Also, apparently, it isn't just the picture that had NR used on it. It was also used on the audio back in 2005. Our audiophile friends can fill us in on that:
Disney's "Cinderella" DVD: Good picture, bad sound
This thread is from 2005.
No new threads mentioning whether a brand new audio transfer was used on the Diamond Edition or just a higher quality NR'd transfer.
Hey,
First: Marky198, is that screengrab on the right from the blu ray or the dvd?
Second: I remember reading this, but cant remember where. Maybe one of you read it too and can remind me where.
Frank and Ollie were shown the restored Cinderella back in 2005... after the film was over, they said something along the lines of "that looks nice, but it isn't the film we made".
Does anyone else remember this?

Hey,
THanks Marky! I don't know how I missed those screencaps...and OH MY FREAKIN GOD! They;ve butchered her! If you look at the second-to-last screengrab, you can actually see the outline of her left hand, and how it has been badly repainted....
So Marky, do you remember where you read that remark by Frank and Ollie???
ANd if you want a proper release of Cinderella... thats easy! Get the laserdisc!!
I told you guys I while back I had found a torrent of it, but it only loaded 25% and the person stopped "seeding" it...and now there is nowhere to download the rest!

So the Blu-ray showed me they used the same restoration with the same mistakes. Time to show some other forums this debacle.
I think the "that isn't the film we made" is misremembering that they showed Snow White to Frank and Ollie and they said "The colors look nice. They aren't the colors we used, but they're nice" or approximately those words.

That could be,
But it doesn't really matter for Cinderella, because the whole world can see now that the Blu ray is not the film they made......
Or else I want proof that all the details were specifically added for the cinema cards, books, screenshots, lithos, laserdisc version, vhs versions, and all the trailers from the 50's till now, where they ARE present.
But I don't think this is a dicussion about is it wrong or not. I think we all agree it's wrong. The thing is, are some people such blu ray fanatics that it's hard for them to admit it, because they just see what they want to see?
You see, I care more about the film than about the most recent home-video-format, because in 50 years there will be something else. I want the film to go down in history for the next generations exactly like HOW IT WAS MADE, so with all the details. The whole view on the Disney classics is slowly changing. I notice it already. People tend to speak about them as cheap saturday morning cartoons, and frankly that's what they are turning into.....

Nothing of this has anything to do with blu-ray. This restoration was made for the Platinum Edition, remember? And even *IF* these errors were made during a new restoration for the blu-ray, it wouldn't be the fault of the format.Marky_198 wrote: But I don't think this is a dicussion about is it wrong or not. Hey everyone,
Im sure someone here already pointed this out, or even, Im sure that someone from here was the cause of this but...have you guy seen this revised online review of the blu ray??? (read the video image part)

I sure hope Disney is reading!
