From some of what I'm reading here, I wouldn't be surprised if it fell in the middle area, maybe just a bit higher. However (and keep in mind I haven't read the review yet, I'm about to, remember that even UD reviews can be like reviews from movie critics, their opinions can be far from the common ones. For example, people are nuts for Nightmare Before Christmas, but the UD review basically kept saying it was weak, weak, WEAK (though, I agreed with a lot of it and am one of the folks who consider it overrated). Also, I have to say that people who lump all Disney direct-to-video films and sequels into one level of quality must not have seen all of them. They vary greatly between each other. So, when they say it's like all the other Disney direct-to-video films or Disney sequels, it's not really a good comparison. They need to be more specific. If it's like Bambi 2, it's well worth owning. If it's like Fox and the Hound 2, it's still pretty good but without the deepness of the original, if it's like Hunchback 2, it's going to be pretty bad.buffalobill wrote:I was so ready to buy this dvd. Now after reading UD's review I'm back to being torn again. It isn't a scathing review of the material itself but it isn't flattering either. It says if you've like previous dtv Disney dvd material you'll like this. I haven't liked previous dtvs. If that's the quality of the actual movie itself (audio/video are fine), then I'm not convinced that it's worth buying. Damn, I was hoping that the review would either say it was an A+ fantastic piece of art or a steaming pile of crap. It's neither and I have no idea if I really want it.

Okay, having just read the review myself, it seems to cover various issues pretty reasonably. Only thing that throws me off from the get go is the assumption by the reviewer that others, like himself or herself, aren't really interested in new stories about Ariel anyway. Clearly, that is not the opinion of many.
Anyway, I for one can't wait to get my copy tomorrow, but I'm an Ariel nut. I anticipate it being at least as good as Fox and the Hound 2, and in my opinion that's fine for direct to video. It would disappoint me on the bigscreen though, and I'm sure I'll probably agree that the filmmakers could have and should have done better.

Really Siren, the makers of this prequel said it ends right before the big concert? So...when...the heck...did Ariel start knowing about humans, or start loving humans, a love that went far beyond her love of music? When did Sebastian and Flounder stop doing things that would get them in trouble?
How do you know it is canonically incorrect? Nothing proves Ursula was banished before Ariel was 15 or whatever age this prequel makes her in the original, truly canonical movie. In fact, even the series says otherwsie, but we should only use what the movie says.Vermin Friends wrote:Like I said in the 2nd thread, I think Ursula was banished long before Ariel's time. If you really think chronologically and listen to her dialog, she talks about life in the palace before Ariel (possibly even Triton). With that said, I'm a little happy she wasn't in TLM3, since it would be canonically incorrect... though I am really disappointed that she wasn't even mentioned.

Wow, that's a new one for me! (I took the quiz and got Adrina . . . XD)Old Fish Tale wrote:Has anyone seen this?
That was pretty obvious with the postioning of the choices and some of the choices themselves. (I'm not telling, but if you do it yourself based on the basics of each of the characters from the clips I've seen . . . of course, I did the girl quiz. Has anyone tried the boy one yet?)
Thanks for that, Old Fish Tale! You're awesome!
(One more day left! Hurrah!)

I answer them honestly and that's why I always get Ariel.Nick Bryant wrote:Are you sure you're not just answering the questions so that the outcome is more likely to be Ariel rather than answering them honestly?Ariel'sprince wrote:I first got Triton but in every other Little Mermaid/Disney Princess quize I get Ariel,so I tried again and got ArielI"m unbeatable

Ha,you are kinda like her,sorta.
Yeah,I figured out that this was the reason why I didn't got Ariel first and if you say you"re a male you only gets male character and same for female characters so I lied to them,I tircked themThough I'm actually a boy, my 'under the sea-twin' is Ariel. yeah I lied about my sex but as the questions and possible answers for boys are more stupid and as I'm feeling sometimes more like a girl than a boy, I guess it's ok

I did both
I got Flounder and Arista...the dodo ones...how sad lol.
